Well then, first off, I recall some talk back in the day for an ambition to gather to play D&D somehow, be it online or whatnot.
I have just stumbled across a free online mmo-rpg called Shaiya. And with it being free and such, I was thinking that the old order that is the knighthood of the flame could give it a shot, and we could do some online play together.
Obviously, we'd make a guild; "Knights of the Flame"! Warriors of justice and grammar!
Closest thing I can think of that will allow the crew to co-exits in a fantasy setting without forcing monthly fees and crap on people. Even free to download. It's pretty stable, there is no PK-assholes roaming the land, as all player combat needs to be agreed upon, and we can shift between PvP and PvE almost at will.
Anyone interested?
We could always allow room for some squires to ascend into the ranks of the knighthood, if there are outside interests.
Currently, me and wife-dearest are playing. Mostly tuesday, thursday and saturday, starting around 9am CET-8/6pm CET+1. Which would be noonish for people living on the east coast of the US, and 5pm for the british. Then play for 6 hours or so.

I might give it a try once I have my new pc up and running. I generally don't last long with mmorpgs though. I'll still give at shot.
Offline
Hmm, sounds amusing. I'd try it if more people are up for it.

Offline
I just downloaded it, and I'm gonna give it a try tonight. If it's as cool as Crimson says, then I'd like to party it up in the guild.
Offline
Same going to give it a go when it eventually updates itself to the right version....
Edit: Any preferences on server / side???

Well, since the Knights of the Flame is a knighthood devoted to the ideals of justice, grammar and eloquence, I would say light side is more appropriate.
And as for server, I find the second one, Teos, is usually not too flooded, but still have enough people to make it interesting. I am already playing dark on the third; Etain. The first, Lailah, is almost always busy, meaning there will be lag and such.
I am gonna make a big defender type character and name him after my nick here. Though for some reason, "Crimson Cade" was already taken... *STARES*... would anyone know anything about that? ![]()
So, "Sir Crimmy" will be the clan head, unless someone else with more spare time steps up.

I'm interested.
I'll download it today and take a look. Although It will probably end up being that the times are too inconvenient for me. 'specially with uni starting in 2 weeks.
Edit: actually looked at the game and realised it was one I had planned on getting anyway. ![]()

I recommend starting a throw-away character just to get used to the interface and leveling system.
Builds should be optimized for group play. For example, a mage should never put any less than 4 points in INT at any level, and the rest in WIS. And a fighter or ranger should always focus on STR/DEX at a 3:2 rate. Ignoring REC (health) might seem like suicide for a front-liner, but you need to be specialized to fulfill a role. And if the healer and defender do their jobs, you won't get too hurt.
And it is pretty addictive, I might add. I ended up playing two hours past what I had in mind now >_>

*gasp*
i'm a DotF by marriage. oh noes!
but, yeah. is pretty fun stuff. just... yeah, be careful that when you go out farming you kill the right thing. otherwise you spend upwards of 30 minutes and get pretty pissed when things don't drop.
oh, and bonus, you can ignore the pvp parts, which are never really fun to me. you know, as fun as getting ganked is...

I'm gonna test the waters with a mage character. If that doesn't float my boat, then I'll defect to my usual choice of a ranger.
EDIT: Okay, I'm stickin' with the mage. Level 6 after like an hour of playing, pretty cool so far.

This does sound tempting, plus what would you guys do without the help of a veteran MMORPG gamer like me, but time is a big problem, it's an aeria game(not the best impression from playing Last Chaos, their other rpg), Carji might be playing, and I am not and never was a member of KotF(I guess that doesn't really matter though seeing how kf in general is joining)
After looking at their site, I decided that if I play, I'll choose the ultimate mode, death is the end
, sounds challenging.

okay, so the hubby and i are on the light side now, i with a cleric named dr. teef. is pretty okay, thus far. but only level 8. ah well. there's always thursday. ![]()

K, I downloaded/installed it, but haven't gotten around to playing yet, due to certain homework-eats-my-time issues ![]()
On another note, why is this not at the KotF forum? Even though it kinda died.. ![]()

I'm in, peoples. Going to download it soon, and most likely build a tank. ![]()

Echo: I am tweaking that board for that exact purpose right now.

K, I started today, got to lvl 12. Was pretty fun, especially while partying with Crim. Just to let everyone know here are the requirements to make a guild.
"These four conditions must be met before a guild can be made;
1. You must be at least Level 11.
2. Have at least 1000 Gold.
3. Be in a Party of 7 people.
4. No member of the party can have joined a guild in the previous 72 hours "
So anyway, I made a mage and am planning to follow the Int Mage build until ultimate(if i ever get there) and then probably switch to Luck Mage.
Lookin' forward to playing with more people from KF.

I'm working towards a WIS Mage, so mostly for healing and support. I'm level 9 now.

ah, well ed has a priest, and crim has... just about everything. i'll fit in wherever, once we get started. doesn't take too long to get to level 10 or better, usually about 4 hours of play.

According to just about anyone I talk to in-game, there are set builds that are viable for normal mode, since you get far too little points to truly make a versatile character. Fighter, Ranger and Archer all should put 3 points in Strength and 2 points in Dex every level, in order to do enough damage. A Priest should always go full Wis, a Mage full Int, and a Defender full Rec
I am more or less done tweaking the old RP-forum into a guild-site.

Hmm, so I started playing and have become somewhat addicted to it ![]()
I have two characters currently- a fighter and an archer... so how do I join said guild..?

What's your name ingame and at what times do you play? By the way my name's GodlyUlti.
@Aleclom
I think you should switch to rec or int. They work best for mages. Here's the guide I follow.

Yeah, my main character at the moment would be the Priest (Saint_Crimmy), as he is the highest level. Since the perfect party consist of one of every class, since every class have a unique party-buff, and you get all the sweet combos, like having the Ranger stealth ahead and find the opposition, have the Archer surgically draw in the monsters we want, have the Defender taunt them into piling onto him and have the Mage and Fighter tear them to pieces with blast-effects, then have the Priest heal everyone up and take away negative status effects. Trust me, it is glorious in effect.
The only class I don't have, or plan to make, is Archer, since there are only five slots per user, and of the five, it is my least personal favorite.

I need to make the guild first, and in order to do that, I need to have a party of 7, all with 1000gp in their inventory. So, we should agree on meeting at some point and get that done.
Please post the characters in the site linked.

Okay, what are everyone's classes? I haven't invested a tremendous amount of time into my Mage/Priest/Guy yet, so I can fill a role that hasn't been made yet.
EDIT: Nevermind, going with a Ranger.

Finally, I can join in on the fun! I'm guessing we're the humans/elves then. Ah, who to be, who to be.
Never joined a guild before so I'm kinda excited about that. Gotta level up first then.

My priest "Saint_Crimmy" is squatting in the forest, waiting for buddy invites so we can make the guild later on. Just click the red icon thing in the lower right corner, and click buddies. Write Saint_Crimmy (case sensitive) and click "Add buddy"
Once I have at least 6 from K-F we can make the guild ^^
