Seeing how pro-active some members were with the prospect of being in a group/clan on some online game (although I'm not sure where we're going with the other one), I decided to give it a shot with a game I personally have been spending 1-2 hours a day on every now and then: S4 League
For those who have never heard, just think of a team A VS team B FPS game, where the goal is to score a goal touchdown style. In the meantime, you can gun someone down, slash 'em up with a sword, send them flying with a bat, or have your little security drones to take care of the enemy. There are also other skillsets available to you, such as invisibility, flying, or the ever so popular anchor (think rope and hook except more effective).
Okay then, for now, what I kinda like is to establish a minimum of 6-10 man team so we can play 3 on 3 games with other players/teams. Of course, we can go full-on 6 on 6, but I doubt we'll ever have that many people online at the same time. Although the game is still fun just teaming up with random people and such, I'd like to make a true team and be able to rely on true strategy and teamwork as we move along.
Then of course, for any clan/team, there should be some general roles you can fulfill:
Sniper: Your main aim is to target distant enemies and provide back-up from afar with your excellent aiming.
Scorer: You move quickly through crowds, know how to use your skills/wall jumps to enter into enemy base and score a goal.
Defender: When facing a horde of rushing enemies, you take down the ballholder and try your best to reset the ball. When facing with an agile scorer, you know when to get down and dirty with a melee weapon of your choice or blast his hp into dust.
Killer: You provide back-up for the scorer just by close-range killing. Not afraid to be reckless if you have to. In the meantime, you can just find random targets to kill.
Then there are some other roles you guys can come up with once you get the hang of the game. Me, I usually end up being some mixture of the ones above. Just choose whatever role feels natural to you in a FPS game and we can figure out our strategy from there.
EDIT: I realize there are better description of roles to play on the website, so just look at this page:
http://s4.en.alaplaya.net/pages/heroguide
My goal is to have an actual "league" experience where well-trained teams (rather than the exceptional individual every now and then) face off each other with actual playbooks moves and strategy. Of course, improvising is also key, but I want us to build a core set of strategy firsthand.
At the very least, I also hope to introduce to you guys a pretty fun game although it can get buggy once in a while.
And to make sure this idea will not crumble even though there are interested participants, maybe we should make a list of time and days of the week we are available and contact each other on some instant messaging service when we are ready to team play.
Here are the specs:
CPU - Pentium III 1 GHz
RAM - 256 MB
Hard drive space - 3 GB
OS - Windows 98/ME/2K/XP
Graphics Card - Geforce 2 MX 440
DirectX - 9.0
Network - 56 KBs

Is it just me, or does this game sounds like a football mode for tf2?

Here is some Some random Gameplay videos I found. IF at all this game reminds me ... more of gunZ than a football mod of TF2.
Although... the gameplay is different since there are goals.

Well, I stopped playing Gunz, because well, I sucked at it. Not to say the controls were overly complicated, but to be one of the better players, it seemed you would have to press a lot of buttons. In S4 League, kicking it old school with simple aiming and shooting is good enough to be a decent player. Wall jumps and side dodges become natural after getting the hang of it for a while.
Skills are easy to use, although it would take a while to understand how to use it well for some skills.
Plus, I'm not much of a fan of plain old death matches and that's why I prefer S4. I find just killing then dying only to be resurrected in a couple of seconds redundant and boring (what can I say; I'm a former CS player and when I tried out TF2 for the first time, it just couldn't get me excited). With trying to rush into the enemy's base with a Fumbi (the ball) on your team's side, it really gives you a reason to want to live again immediately after you die in order to help out your team score.
Some of the most fun matches is a close game where no one is able to score, because the defense is established so well on both sides. And when you get scored on, it makes you much more active in trying to at least tie up the game. This is true for any competition I guess, but S4 still stands out for me.

Such a shame I couldn't get this thing going.
Anyways, they just threw in a more proper clan system in-game, so I'm hoping if anyone might be open to giving this game a shot.

I play every so often. Kite973's the name.

Cool, I'll search for you in-game sometime. Haven't been on for a while (been busy with the PS3), and now I have to get through this update before starting up. What do you think about the recent updates (if you have tried them out already, of course)?
I think I'm gonna try looking for a clan to join to see what the experience is like. Are you in one?

I've just spotted this. Looks cool. What specs are required? (A little busy to look atm)
Also, hey guys. Been a while. <3
EDIT: I see there is an item shop. Please tell me it uses in game currency. I don't want to be at a disadvantage because people with money to blow can buy better weapons.

Looks like fun will give it a go.

Well, it's sort of a mix. You earn money, which is called pen, by playing in matches and completing missions, in addition to exp, and with that you can temporarily buy a weapon (like, for 5 hours of use, etc) or buy it permanently (just much more pen to spend). For the most part, people who donate to the site gets AP which gives them an advantage in being able to purchase better upgraded weapons and cooler clothes to wear.
I never donated, but am able to get by with the standard selection, so you'll be fine.
I'm glad to have some people attracted to this. Once you have settled and understand the basics of the game, we shall make a clan!!!!
EDIT: I shall edit in the specs on the first post!

Well, if you made an account on their website, maybe there's a matter of the verification email to worry about. Not exactly sure if they did that in order to activate the account, but that's the only thing I could see that you might've missed.
And hopefully, we'll start growing now and still be around when you'll be able to play, Renegade. But the game itself doesn't take much requirements (at least I don't think so). How old is your computer?
I updated roles people can play with a link to the website's hero guide. Much better than what I had, I guess...

I've been playing this game for a while - since well before the first post in this thread, actually - though my internet and my computer have been taking turns not working, so it was long since last I was able to play steadily. If y'all get a clan going, I'd definitely want to give it a shot. I have a 100/10 connection, so no lagging here. ![]()
