Jump Festa 2006 is this weekend. I went today(Sat) with one mission: get Chopper backpack.
Mission accomplished.
It was fun. Lot's of stuff there: stage shows(including seiyuu:D), shopping, giant balloons, shopping, anime booths, shopping, manga booths, shopping, game booths and shopping.
Anyway, I got lots of blurry pics (and vids of one of the One Piece shows where the characters come out and give a hurtin' to some hapless pirates). I'll have all this stuff up in a few hours. Stay tuned.

Woo. Looking forward to the blurry visual stuff!
<-respect teh mushi luv!Offline
Wow, they actually sell chopper's backpack?! How much was that?
I REALLY wanted to go this year! But unfortunately I live in Nagoya, and I can't afford to buy round-trip Shinkansen fare just for that!!
Maybe next year......I will...T_T
Shashin arigato~, crossbones! Matteta yo~! Teka, kitai shiteta! ![]()

It was pretty expensive actually, 5000yen.
Too bad you couldn't come. Shinkansen is too damn expensive. Makes me mad. Nagoya's not that far though. You could take a highway bus.
That's really cheap. By the way, have you gone to the Jump Shop in Nagoya?

Wow, awesome backpack, I sure wish they sold more of this stuff in the states =/
I guess ill just have to wait for the next comic con or anime con to try and find this stuff

Alright. Pics and explanations. Jump Festa 2006 is a two day event located in the middle of nowhere, a.k.a. Kaihin Makuhari in Chiba prefecture, east of Tokyo. Actually, the entire prefecture of Chiba is the middle of nowhere. And you know you're in the middle of nowhere when you spot an IKEA. Jk, Chiba's ok. Anyway, here the station:

This poster was just too damn cool.
Here we are at the site. Makuhari Center is a huge convention area with lots of giant halls. But I didn't take any pictures of it, 'cause it's not that interesting from the outside.
"Oooooooooh."
When you first go in, they direct you into a massive hall that's solely for waiting to get the exlusive Festa goods. There must have been a couple thousand people there at any given time. Didn't get a pic of that either, 'cause as soon as I got a look at that place, all energy drained from my body. Couldn't lift my arms. Really! The wait was only 30min though, which is lightspeed in Japan. The pic above is right when you go into the first of 3 large halls.
By the way, I went mostly for One Piece only. Of course, there was a ton of Bleach, Naruto and other stuff but I didn't get many pics of those. And since there are going to be too many pictures already, I'll sometimes link some.
Bleach stuff.
More Bleach....and...what's that?...

Under the giant Chopper is a cannon game and a lucky draw where you can win these adorable Chopper hats.
They seemed to be popular.
This is the Movie 7 booth. They showed a really long preview of the movie with several more scenes than the trailers on the web site. I'm surprised how much they've actually got done. After watching those extra scenes, I must say, the art for this movie is the closest the anime has ever come to looking like the manga(at least in the movies). It looks fantastic. At this same booth there's a stage where real versions of the characters come out and fight pirates, like I said before. It's a fun show. I took a lot of poor quality vid. Put that up tomorrow.
More stuff:
The guy in the first pic is Kageyama Hironobu singing "Cha-La Head Cha-La" from DBZ. He does this almost every year I think. He was great. Got some vid of that too.
Yugi-Oh and Eyeshield 21 balloons.
Naruto and BoBoBooBo, BooBoBo(sp?) balloons.
A funky Christmas tree and...
...a special Christmas message from Oda.
Merch. More bellow:

OP Carnival game. This is a really fun game.

This is the stage for the OP event. It was pretty big. There was an orchestra playing OP themes and an award show honoring some of the best scenes in the manga. They spent most of the time on W7. It was hosted by 4 OPO seiyuu:
Mayumi Tanaka - Luffy
Kappei Yamaguchi - Usopp
Wakana Yamazaki - Nami
Yuriko Yamaguchi - Robin
They were awesome. Kappei Yamaguchi was the funniest. He's a natural at that stuff.
Unfortunatley, there were a lot of staff there and the no picture rule was strictly enforced, so no pics. Hopefully they'll put out a DVD or something.
And at the beginning of that event there was some M7 news. On the big screen, Goro Inagaki from SMAP appeared to announce to everyone that he'll be doing the voice of the bad guy in M7. Everyone was pretty thrilled about that, judging from the applause. Although I'm no fan of SMAP, I kind of like Goro. He seems like a nice guy(even though he got arrested for giving a cop a hard time a couple years back) and is the least annoying of the members. Also the comedy team Gokuraku Tombo from a great show called Mecha Ike will do the voices of the henchman in the movie. Really good cast.
Goro:

This is just half of one of the 3 halls. You can see part of the Jump Stage in the back.

Just a little explanation. This is an omikuji which has little fortunes in them. Here they have names of the characters. Each time you turn it over, a different name comes out. This one says "Enel."
Some scans:

Oh yeah, there were many merchandise booths too, but it was a real pain getting pics for those sometimes, so here are some links that have stuff they were selling, including the Festa page:

That's it, I think. Hopefully tomorrow I'll put up some video.

Wow, crossbones! Thank you for sharing these great pics!!
That chopper baloon thing is so cute, and the hat too. Now I really have to save up some money for the JumpFesta next year. ( ^____^; )
oh yeah, there is a Jump Shop in Nagoya. I've been there once. But I was with my sister and her 2 yr old daughter at that time, so I didn't have enough time to look around the shop. T__T
Maybe tomorrow, I'll go there ALONE.
PS** tonight is OP Jidai-geki Special~!! Yatta~!

Yeah, that poster is great. I like ad posters more than commercial ones. They're often more interesting and because they serve a utilitarian purpose, they're more special and rare.

I should have. But it's a little difficult to take everything in at one of these thing. Taking pictures, buying stuff, being annoyed by the crowds, trying to see the stage shows on time, carrying a lot of stuff. Sometimes I get lazy and forget to buy or see something.

On the Zoro poster/card thingey, the one with "No. 307" in the upper left corner. Apparantly his quote is "I want to be the strongest sworder"
And Ace's doesn't make too much sense either.

Yeah, "sworder." Don't you know that word? It's kind of like "waiter": someone who makes people wait.
Anyway, here's the video I promised, a day late. This is the small stage show(as opposed to the big one with the seiyuu, orchestra, special guests, robots, wizards and strippers) where the crew fights pirates. It's divided into two files. Maybe take 15-20 min to download.

Masks, yeah. Chopper was kind of a puppet and behind the screen a person in black clothes moved him around. The screen helped to make it look more realistic. That part looks cool. It almost makes him look real, walking around. Later, Robin picks him up and holds him the rest of the show. The video quality is low, so you can't see so well, but Robin's mask was great. The other ones were so-so. And yeah, it's just a goofy kids stage show, but it was cute.

it always seems odd to me how much the show seems marketed to kids, what with the levels of violence, and the fact it airs at like 7pm.
