Re: Final Fate RP Recruit Thread

Alright, thanks again.

I wanted to play a Jaguar and if I made him a doctor it just seems a little Chopperish, but don't worry we'll find a doctor somewhere.

Also, I'm just wondering when do I start and things like that, or if you guys have anything in mind for my entry.

Re: Final Fate RP Recruit Thread

Alright, I got my first RP post in woohoo! But I also got a few questions

1. What Ocean are we in(East Blue, West Blue...)

2. Since Quetzal was captured by Marines he knows who the Luetenant/Captain is, so I'm wandering if I can make them up or if you guys had an Idea what there suppose to be like, At least a name would be good.

Re: Final Fate RP Recruit Thread

can i still join? this is my character:

Name: Vincent

Age: 19

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 200 lbs (built)

role: strategist, and gambling addict

reason for becoming a pirate: wishes to engage in battles against the worlds greatest power (the marines, DUH) in the hopes to test out his knowledge of the art of war, but first need a crew to do so. the best and easiest way to get a crew together is to form a pirate crew.

Weapon(s): two katanas linked together at the hilts by an unbreakable chain that can change lengths. while he is not sure of his katanas specific abilities, he knows that they are quite deadly in the conventional ways of sword combat.

Skills: a fairly good fighter, deadly with the two swords style, and getting better at incorporating the chains that link his swords into actual combat. He likes to box as a habit, but does not see it as a conventional way to become a better fighter as it has very specific rules that don’t work in street fights. Plus, he isn’t a very good boxer either. As for non-physical skills, he spent the majority of his life prior to now learning the art of war. He is considered a very accomplished strategist, and he is pretty luck too. On a one to ten scale I give his skills the following (note that these are subject to change as the story progresses):
Fighting: 4
Swords: 8-9
The chain linking the swords: 6-7
Boxing: 4
Strategy: 8-9
Luck: 10
Devil Fruit: 6

Devil Fruit: he has one in his possession, but hesitates to actually eat it. He is having problems deciding if it is moral wrong to accept a devil into your body in exchange for its power. Plus, he kinda wants to sell it for gambling money.

Organization: of no particular bias to pirates or marines, he simply wishes to use his knowledge to win battles for whichever side he is on.

Ethic: he is neutral. He fights for those he sympathizes with.

Physical Appearance: he is a big well built guy, but not too strong. He is not what one would call a good fighter, unless and until he gets his hands on his chained katanas. He is still not the strongest around and could really stand to improve his technique. He has pointy hair of the blonde variety (sometimes he has a buz cut) , and piercing green eyes hidden behind tinted spectacles. He wears average clothes (jeans, colored tee-shirts, and slip-ons like Vans or something).

Personality: he is an easy going fellow with too much free time on his hands. He likes to gamble a little too much. While never having been concerned with being the strongest in anything, he still trains himself so that he may have an easier time surviving war time situations. He seems pretty smart most of the time, but hates reading, and frequently loses money (despite his good luck).

Likes: eating, sleeping, women, winning big battles through somewhat well devised strategies, drinking lots and lots after a big win (of any kind), and gambling. He LOVES gambling.
Dislikes: poo, losing, bad luck streaks, any form of violence towards women, and most importantly bad dreams (he needs his beauty sleep).

Background: he lived what could be called a pretty privaliged life. Born into a family of strategists he was obligated from birth to become an accomplished strategist. When he was born he was also presented with the linked katanas he still has, though no one can recall who gave them to him. The strangest part about the weapons is that every man in his family has been presented with a special weapon at birth, and every time by a stranger. He spent the first decade and a half of his life studying the art of war until he started having horrible nightmares. These dreams didn’t consist of much, first only the sound of a chain rattling, and then the sight of two small scythes bound together by the rattling chain. He always wakes up terrified directly afterwards. He has since decided to go and try to find what the dream means, or at least find someone who can tell him and maybe test his knowledge of the art of war on the way.

Weapon Information: he was given his katanas at birth, but did not even think to use them outside of training until he had already left home. He has innate abilities with the swords he possesses (and some with swords in general), but almost no natural ability with any other form of combat or weapon.

Moves list:

Musashi’s Nittoryu:
These moves are the basis for Vincent’s fighting style. He uses the same Nittoryu that the legendary samurai Musashi did during his lifetime. Vincent doesn’t limit his style to what Musashi used, but he develops new techniques based on the traditional Nittoryu that he already knows.

NITTORYU, ENGETSU! (Two swords style, crescent moon):
Vincent stands in back stance and holds both swords point forward and blade up, so that the looks sort of like a crescent moon. This is a quick slashing movement where the tips of the blades start at the top left of an imaginary box, and swing down and to the right (in a curve) ending at the bottom left corner of the imaginary box. In anime logic, this would leave a slashing after image of a reverse C shape (like a crescent moon).

NITTORYU, HANGETSU! (Two swords style, half moon):
Vincent stands upright, holding his swords differently in each hand. One point is to the ground, while the other is in the air. This is a defensive technique designed to deflect incoming objects with greater ease. This technique can vary a little depending on the size of the opponent it is being used on, and can also be used as a stabbing technique at extremely close range. This technique has very little to do with half moons, other than its name.

NITTORYU, MANGETSU! (Two swords style, full moon)
This is a higher level technique, where Vincent takes a relaxed stance and holds his swords at his sides. He runs forward and slashes up, and then down. It may not seem like much, but formed sword strikes only use one slash, and it takes surprisingly high skill levels to pull off two slashes in formed techniques. The idea behind forms is that they look good, are more powerful than a sword slash, and thusly are more difficult to perform.

NITTORYU, MIKADZUKI! (Two swords style, new moon)
This is the culmination of all of Vincent’s training in Musashi’s Nittoryu.  I am as of yet unsure how this technique works. I have only heard its name so far, and do not wish to make something up unless my research really yields no results. This could very well be the case, since I wrote a term paper on Musashi and never found a description of this move.
Alright! Time to make something up, as I have absolutely no idea what the actual technique looks like. Vincent sheaths his swords so that the blades are not visible (like with a new moon). He also sheaths them both on his left side so as to better imitate the Nittoryu. This is a stabbing technique. Normally this technique is a sort of stab quick draw combination. The first part of the draw gets the swords out of the sheaths fast enough to start the stabbing motion, and after that Vincent keeps on thrusting for multiple more stabs. If Vincent is trying to avoid giving his opponent fatal blows, the move is very simple. He grabs the hilts of his swords and simply draws them for a stabbing motion that hits with the end of the hilt instead of the blade. This variation of the move severely cuts the range of the Mikadzuki, but Vincent’s blades are already partially drawn so he can transition into another more lethal move very quickly if need be. This move is lightning fast, as stabbing technique with a sword are renowned for. Another aspect of this techniques speed is that instead of taking stance before starting Vincent sheaths and quick draws to start. Quick draw is another notoriously fast technique, so combining it with another fast technique makes it ideal for catching opponents of guard.

NITEN ICHI RYU, KENSEI! This translates to: the style of two heavens as one (what the Nittoryu originally meant), sword saint.
This was not actually one of Musashi’s moves, rather the title that was awarded him after death. Kensei, or sword saint, is a title rarely given to any swordsmen, so I thought I would make up a move relating to it, but haven’t yet. It sounds pretty cool though.

Vincent’s Nittoryu:
(Note: these are Nittoryu techniques Vincent developed himself. They have no relation to Musashi’s style, except that both styles use two swords)

NITTORYU, RYUKAI! (Two swords style, dragon slash)
Vincent crosses his arms so that each hand touches the opposite shoulder. He holds the swords blade down and out so that the points of the blades kind of look like the tips of dragon wings. He launches forward spinning around and slashing at every enemy in front of him. This technique is unpredictable, but very fast.

NITTORYU, KIBA NO OROCHI! (Two swords style, the fang of the demon snake)
Vincent leaps into the high into the air pointing the tips of his swords down, in the hopes that he will make a landing strike with his downward stab.

NITTORYU, TEIKIATSU! (two swords style, cyclone):
Vincent uses this move when totally desperate. He becomes a cyclone around his enemy and slashes wildly towards the eye of his self generated storm. This is a deadly move, but could also harm Vincent. Since he wields Kaieroseki blades, is slashing wildly, and is swirling uncontrollably there is a significant chance that he will accidentally cut himself.

Vincent’s Nittoryu no Kusari:
(Note: these are some of the ways Vincent has learned to incorporate the chains into his sword play; this again has no relation to Musashi’s style, except that both styles use two swords)

NITTORYU NO KUSARI, MAYU! (Two swords style, cocoon)
Vincent wraps himself (or an ally) in his chains preventing whoever is inside the chains from sustaining personal damage.

NITTORYU NO KUSARI, [STOCKADE ]! (Two swords style, stockade)
I do not know the Japanese translation for the word stockade… Vincent wraps his opponent in his chains and then commences to stab his swords through small openings in the wraps. The idea is that the enemy cannot escape, and therefore is very vulnerable to stabbing.

NITTORYU NO KUSARI, TADAI YUSABURU! (Two swords style with chains, heavy swing)
Vincent balls up his chain and uses it as a make shift wrecking ball. This move is only really useful as a distraction however, because Vincent is far from being above average strength, and the move is fairly impractical to begin with.

Ittoryu:
This is an all inclusive name for sword styles that use only one sword. In actuality this means very little, since so very many styles use one blade. I added this section nonetheless, since Vincent could need to use this at one point or another.

ITTORYU, RYUIKI! (One sword style, dragon breath)
After igniting Atuhualpa, Vincent swings down hard and launches a fire ball from the golden broadsword. Since Atuhualpa is powered by the sun, it is a relatively inexhaustible source of fire, making the Ryuiki a good ranged move. The only downside of this move is of course the dependence on the sun. If it is dark or very cloudy, the move is much less effective, along with Atuhualpa in general.

ITTORYU, SANSHOUUO! (two swords style, salamander)
This move isn’t too different from the Ryuiki. Vincent slashes at the enemy with Atuhualpa, but instead of a fire ball coming out (what happens with the Ryuiki) a spiraling wave is launched from the blade. The Ryuiki is launched from Atuhualpa’s point, while the Sanshouuo stems from the entire blade. It is called Sanshouuo (salamander) because the ensuing wave of fire looks like the body of the fire dragon, salamander. This move is better for use against a group of people instead of the Ryuiki which is better suited for hitting one or two people.

ITTORYU, JUUSEI! (One sword style, gunshot)
Vincent throws his sword at the enemy, using his kaze kaze fruit to accelerate the blade until it hits its target. This is a good long range move if there is a need to immobilize an enemy fast.

Santoryu:
I really wish I could think of a more original name, but these moves really do use all three swords that are currently in Vincent’s possession. He won’t be holding any swords between his teeth, but the name Santoryu still applies to any style that somehow utilizes three swords.

SANTORYU, RYUUJIN! (three swords style, dragon god)
Vincent puts Atuhualpa in the ground point down. He then loosely wraps it in the chains from his katanas. He uses his wind to lift his katanas and twist the chains into the outline of a great dragon. Vincent ignites Atuhualpa, setting the chains aflame as well. The combination of wind and fire make the chains and blades seem like an actual dragon as they thrash around burning and crushing everything in Vincent’s way. This move is very impractical, because it would damage its surroundings to much if used in a town or on the crew’s ship. It is inversely very useful though, if say Vincent were to use it in an enemy (marines and such) base, or direct it at an enemy ship. It could also be useful if fighting a large group of enemies in an area that won’t be too affected by the flames, since this technique is very large scale it would be easy to take out lots of enemies fast. Vincent can't use this move yet, but i just conceived this idea, so i thought that i would throw it in with my post.
