Perhaps the Lachyrma (?) the third generation utilises acts as a catalyst to activate Dragon Force. If memory serves, it took Natsu the consumption of the Flame of Rebuke to activate his, although seeing as how he has the ability to retain something he eats, he might be able to force his own DF power back into effect.

It was kinda ridiculous how easily they were beating them. While I have no idea what kind of training Gajeel had Natsu hasn't used his lightning dragon ability at all and Sting and Rogue are already using what appears to be a trump card now. I KNOW they're gonna turn it around next chapter, but that was just TOO one sided. Actually reminded me of some of the less impressive Bleach fights.

....that chapter didn't tug at the heart strings at all. And where the hell did that mine cart and tracks come from?!
Offline
Sting destroyed the floor of the arena, causing Natsu and Gajeel to fall underground. It looks like there's some sort of mine deep below the stadium, and that's why there was a minecart and track there.

Ohh... so maybe the ruins have something to do with the magic device that they plan to use a celestial spirit (or whatever they're called) for.

It's probably going to appear as a cop-out, resorting back to a subjective hidden power, but Sting and Rogue probably weren't very effective Dragon Slayers if it took a 3rd generation's natural power to kill their parent, as opposed to relying on their core power like a 1st generation would in such an encounter.
Well, assuming a 1st generation can't learn to naturally tap into Dragon Force, at any rate.

Cliffhanger....
But seriously, what the hell is gonna happen next?! And Levy... NUOOOOOOOO what happened to your face?!
Anyway, To Be Continued indeed.

Why does it feel like Jellal came across someone from the future, trying to change the past?

3 weeks until story resumes? The Cliffhangers!!! ugh
anyone think that maybe levy was listing off dragon slayers when she was writing that letter in the last part?
for example
"Natsu died, Wendy died as well... "...also Laxus, and Gajeel, who I loved, as well as..." <And she trails off there, I could be horribly wrong, but i recall something about the Dragon Festival (And of course they're all still alive) or somethin?
Of course she could just be listing some of the lesser members of fairy tail, as I could never see Hiro Mashima killing off any of his major characters.

I bet that girl is Urtear... from the future

You know, that might explain quite a bit. This woman may in fact be from the future; she read Levy's letter and used a spell to travel back in time, probably to deliver the message to Lucy, in hopes that once she and her friends learn what will happen, they might be able to change the way events will play out.
The reason Crime Sorciére thinks they've been sensing Zeref is the time-traveling magic's very nature; it isn't something that is to be taken lightly.
They've been sensing it every year because the woman doesn't know the exact year of the catastrophe; all she knows is a date, July 7, and the fact that it happens shortly after the Grand Magic Games, so she's been traveling to every occurrence of the Games since their inception.
i really hope it's not, i mean the same twist as rave master would just kinda suck. something about the cover page kinda makes me think/hope she'll look like erza as a child.

Yea that love part tipped it off to me that it might be the dragon slayers. But we'll! Damn cliffhangers, they always get you!

Calling it now, it's Resha Valentine.

The story now continues.
Gemma killed Lector, Sting's Exseed companion!
And in retaliation, Sting puts a hole in Gemma's chest!!
Meanwhile, Gajeel shows Natsu and Wendy the dragon graveyard he stumbled on.
Also there are their three Exseed companions, as well as Gray and Lucy.
Wendy has a plan to possibly reveal how this dragon graveyard came to be.
Elsewhere, the cloaked woman begins to write down something in a notebook.
However, a man calls out to her and she runs off, dropping the notebook.
The man picks it up and reads what the woman wrote: "July 7, Eclipse Plan, Dragon King Festival."
If this woman is from the future, then she indeed knows only the date, and not the year, of the oncoming catastrophe.
Almost like your writing a poem, lol.
Damn that Gemma's a bastard, but it's strange how Minerva was pleased when he went down. What's the deal with Sabertooth? Is it that the guild master was actually really weak and that he hired some strong mages to make his guild and himself appear stronger? Weird stuff.
Not a lot happening in this chapter either: no answers, just more questions. ![]()

It's not really all that strange. Minerva's already revealed how cruel she can be. Plus, if her father raises her just as harshly as he manages the Guild, then there'll be little love between them, and probably a desire for control on her part. Her being hisdaughter, one of the original five and possibly quite strong should make her a strong candidate for Guildmaster provided that tengu doesn't live long enough to screw with her.

Looks like a whole made-up play from Arcadios and the army guys just to take Lucy away...

It'd be a bit interesting if this entire situation is the reason why Natsu and Gajeel couldn't get past the barrier blocking 80s and over. The worst time-loop that Mashima can probably hope to use is that they both become their respective parent.

Actually explains how Zeref already knew Natsu. I had been tossing around the idea of Zeref actually being a dragon slayer that ate life, but the explanation of Acnologia makes me doubt my theory entirely. And yeah this is probably gonna explain why Natsu and Gajeel were considered over the age of 80.
Another note is that the time traveler probably used the eclipse machine, but I wonder how she(?) gathered enough magic to use the device in the first place.

The reason being, Natsu is rushing to the palace, along with Wendy, Mirajane, Happy, Charla, and Lily.
They are going to try and rescue Lucy and Yukino in case Fairy Tail does not win the Games.
I think it also includes the reasoning that the king may not release Lucy even if Fairy Tail wins.

Shodaime I think there's a few things your plan can't account for. Mostly grudges, at least in the case of Kagara (and Millianna) want to confront Erza and also Rouge wanting to have a match with Gajeel. Grey's got a grudge against the guy he lost to in the first game, and let's not forget if anything happens to him Juvia not following any plan and will come a rescue him.
Another wildcard is Minerva, the entire guild has a grudge against her for Lucy's sake and I just don't know about her character right now. Also wondering who the captain is for Blue Pegasus. And who the hell can beat Jura (cough Laxus cough).

By the by: if Sting is now the master of Sabertooth, they are totally cheating.

They'll weasel out of it with "candidate." His candidancy, likely, to be revoked should they "suffer the disgrace" of not being the best.
I'm actually more curious if someone else could be capable of fetching Lector, assuming Minerva isn't actually lying.
Offline
Was thinking, other than her word, we have no proof Minerva is telling the truth, maybe she never saved Lector. Though Mashima's not killed many people before if she is, indeed, deceiving Sting and co then this would set her up better as an antagonist. It's also not like Fairy Tail isn't planning on paying her back for what she did to Lucy.

Wow, that chapter was EXACTLY like the chapter of Rave Master where they fought those Dark Bringers and Mashima introduced the character who had moves that would eventually lead to his conception of Natsu... oh well.
The second I saw these guys I though, "I don't care about this, show the tournament!" Though I'm sure this type of progression in the story is necessary to create a proper climax... probably.
