Hi. Got a ps3 myself although not many games. I was wondering if anyone can recommend to me any ps3 games they have played which are really good. I am looking for an RPG type game and possibly a party game to play with a few friends.
I already completed Assassin's Creed which was very fun with a pretty good story although it tends to freeze from time to time. I also have Resistance and COD4 which are pretty addictive games although I have yet to test them online cause I don't know how. Anyone who is playing COD4, can you tell me if there is a co-op mode because I can't seem to locate it.
I am actually thinking of getting Ratchet and Clank next since I played the ps2 installments but just wanted to ask first how the new game measures up to its predecessors. There is no co-op for CoD4.
I dont know that many RPG games for a PS3 but it has alot of the FF series (more coming out soon) and Final Fantasy XI Online. but you have to pay a monthly fee to play it.
Also Assassin's Creed is only part 1 in a trilogy. I cant wait for the next part to come out!
but most of all I'm dying to lay my hands on Devil Macy Cry 4 and Soul Calibur IV when they come out.
Yea I actually am eagerly anticipating FFXIII and Versus although going to be a while before those come out.
Assassin's Creed is definitely going to have a sequel with so many parts of the story left hanging. The plot is really good though.
Is Uncharted any good?

Best advice would be to ditch your Ps3, get an xbox 360 or Wii.

Struggling to find games obviously proves Ps3s fail, nearly all the good games are out on the 360. Wii is good for parties aswell.

Please leave that fanboy imature stuff out of here!!
First of all, 360 has been out a long time. Secondly, what games are "good" or not is up to the individual. I personaly have played most 360 games out, and feel most are mediocre, and I am not a hardcore fps fan.GOW fexample was fun untill i completed it. The first games on 360 where mostly crap, acording to most people including me, atleast in retrospective.
PS3 is newer but has quite a few good games allready, and with all the new games coming out in 2008, noone can say it doesnt have games. And like ps2 it will have a great variaty of genres. Hopefully 360 will also, and not fall in the "fps" trap.
Fanboys ruins the fun of gaming, dont you dare join them.
grow up!
If i was a fanboy i could B-slap you in the face with "360 is nurfing GTAIV!" but im not gonna because I am better then that.

6 January 2008 0:01 GMT - Warner Bros. sister company New Line who's films include The Lord of the Rings Triology, has confirmed it will shift its allegiance to Blu-ray rather than HD DVD following Warner Bros. announcement that it was ditching the HD DVD format later this year.
Another reason to buy PS3 now that Bluray pretty much won the format war. RIP HDDVD.

Personally, I think Blue-ray has more to give to gaming then Films. With the capasity of a blue ray, one can only imagine how much data one can jam into it. It will take years untill we see it at its full potencial.

Not only that the games graphics (most of the time) are worse than the 360s ports, even though PS3 is supposed to be the most-recent and almighty powerfull jesus console.
Do some research:Most, if not all, multiplatform games on 360/PS3 are made with 360 engine, then ported to PS3. because its cheaper and faster. THAT is mainly why sometimes the ps3 versions have small gliches and/or "worse graphics".They are running a 360 designed game on a different type of engine. Its not the ps3s "fault", it is the company that made the game that is too lazy/broke to make a propper version for ps3. That is where ps3 is loosing. the companys dont whant to take the risk. This is extremely sad, but somewhat understandable. Though games that where supose to be exlusive ps3 gets nurfed considerably from what they COULD have been when this is done. talking capasity of blue-ray, potencial of ps3 power ect.
I am NOT a fanboy. I enjoy all consolls, and can see problems with all of them as well as potencial.

Whole season of One Piece in a single disc... Oh and If you buy a bluray movie, you can use your PS3 to convert and copy it to your PSP or memory stick.

'm just wondering if there any good non FPS games for the PS3 out right now? I don't really care for FPS games all that much to be honest.
Imo its the most overrated genre ever.
Don't mention Ratchet, Uncharted and Assassins's Creed since I got those three games.
Also it blows that all the quality non FPS games like RE4, DMC4, MGS4, GT5, GTA4, Tekken, FFXIII and the new Jak game won't be out for a while. Since they are the games I personally want the most. :(Well.. that leaves out Folklore,Virtua fighter 5,Motorstorm, heavenly sword... cant think of more right now.
"anyway... FPS's beat guitar queero anytime!"
You just put a whole genre up agains a single game. :S
I just find these kind of games (Guitar Hero, DDR, Rock Band ETC ETC....) pointless and time wasting.
Also even after mastering the game and completing everysong on 100% or however it works, you still cant play, dance in reality.
And last thing. if you want to play party games with your friends, go buy a Wii.***

Thouse games are mostly(/if not only) for when you have friends over. They are sosial games, and allot of fun for most people. (I have barly played most of those types)
One COULD say it is less pointless/time-waisting then fps game because it is extremely sosial and great for lan parties and such, and the games do not wave a flag saying "play this and you will become great in RL"
They promote them to be a way of doing stuff you suck at in RL and FEEL like you can do it ![]()
I am just pointing it out for you. I dont have anything against you not liking them ofc. And I pointed out that you put a genre in general(With extreme variasion) up against a little brand, which is a bit unfair. In the end, what games you play depends on where you are, who you are and in what mood.
edit: My most played Wii game is wii sport. It is extremly fun to play with friends and some alchohol ![]()
Back in highschool, all house parties had singstar hooked up. Nowadays they still have it+stuff like guitar heroes. thats what the games are for ^^

I would prefer doing the real thing, instead of pretending to be good at it on something that is not.
but you are right, its my personal opinion and its not a place to argue about it.
and for the record: when you are drunk, it doesnt matter what you do. it will always feel great!

Sorry, had to be done....
Anyways: PS3! Anyone?

on the subject of rockband. i have the game and play with my friends intending not to really play musical instruments seriously. its like doing karaoke in which you have fun singing but you dont want to be a professional singer. im sure that most people who play FPS' dont actually want to be a gun carrying killing machine, and if that is the case, game developers have to lighten up on the FPS'.
All and all games are supposed to kind of divert people from the actual world in a sense. they are supposed to give fun to people who need it.
to conclude; like karaoke, rockband is fun while drunk and with a group of friends.
Spike: i live in America, and HOME has not come out yet. i think it comes out in Q2 of 2008.

doesnt really matter what system you get DMC 4 for. but for GTAIV, i would say if you have a 360, get it for the 360. the extra exclusive content for GTAIV is for the 360. i dont have a 360 and im not gonna buy a 360 for a game i can get for my PS3, so im gonna get the PS3 version. for me, as long as the original story is in the initial disc, i dont care too much for extra content.
i hope i dont regret not needing the extra content, cause i love me some GTA. but i never complete everything in the game (collecting things wise) so i dont know. by the time GTAIV comes out, well DMC4 and MGS4 will be out, and i probably will be too focused on those games.

I think all versions (maybe not the PC) get some sort of downloadable content that is unique to that system last I heard.
I would still say 360 as well though because multi-platform games are usually better on the leading system and GTAIV still has some yet to be announced multiplayer so you get Xbox Live support (if you have Gold that is).
There was some stuff about the 360 is going to make GTAIV crap than if it was a PS3 exclusive but that is fanboy propaganda. It was because not all 360 consoles are sold with a hard-drive but Microsoft changed their rules so that games can state that a hard-drive is required. I'm not even sure if GTAIV will need a hard-drive.

You need a storage device for each and every game on the 360 for the saves and gamer profile (not sure about the PS3).
also a storage device is needed for updates and downloadable content.
I've seen some GTAIV gameplay videos on the 360, and I'm quite dissapointed with the graphics.
Offline
Yeah but storage device can mean just a memory card.
The complaints a while ago was that without a hard-drive the game wouldn't be able to make use of it for temporarily storing textures (that can't fit on a memory card) and stuff which would have meant the graphics would have been worse, which is why Microsoft changed their rules.
I don't have a PS3 yet but I imagine it stores that type of data as well but I think all PS3s are sold with a hard-drive bundled so it didn't get those complaints.

Well then, looks like other than MGS4 my PS3 won't see the light of day.

Keep it hidden untill the next Tekken, FF games and Kingdom Hearts come out.
@Wolfbullet.
True but some saves go from 10kb to 10mb (I'm exaggerating on purpose), so in some cases a memory card won't be enough.

the one game i am excited for is little big planet. since the first time i heard of the concept and saw vids of the game, it is probably my big anticipated PS3 title (other than MGS4). the recent videos at CES are great and you can now create "traps" of sorts to actually kill the little creatures.
i think the PS3 this year has the best line up so far. i dont really know whats coming out for the 360 that is an exclusive and when SSBB and no more heroes comes out for the wii, it looks kind of downhill from their for nintendo. this is all just my opinion. unless everyone is excited for wii fit, which looks super random to me.
Alucard wrote:

All games to be excited for. if you get tekken 6, we would need to play some online matches.

Well actually I forgot about God Of War 3 but I believe that it is slated for a 09 release. Also, Namco announced in Soul Caliber 4 for the PS3 Darth Vader is playable (Yoda in the 360 version). That's pretty friggin awesome. I may buy it now.
EDIT:
Looks awesome.

So, finally bought my precious little PS3...two quick questions:
1 (too lazy to google): Is there a set release date for MGS4 in Q2-2008, or is it still just "Q2 2008"?
2. Any games out yet which are worth buying?
