Re: Liar Game

So wait, I read 9 darts. Is this just completely unrelated? How does this relate? I thought it was backstory or filler, but it's totally and literally unrelated, it seems.

Re: Liar Game

New chapter is out!  Finally the round is starting, but with 3 rounds of 30 minutes each it will be surprising to see how long this actually lasts.
Though the author seems to be very creative, I'm guessing he'll use the entire 1hr 30min.

BTW the other Roots of A were good, for Lovers I figured it out on page 13 smile

Re: Liar Game

This game seems meh to me so far, but I'm sure I'll come around to it.  I felt the same way about the russian roulette one and it turned out pretty cool.

And on a related note..Were you guys aware there was a J-drama for this show?  First season finished in 2007 (!) and the second season starts up on the 10th of this month (aka - by the time you've finished reading this sentence).  Once the second season finishes, there's a movie (!!!) scheduled for release in 2010 which is subtitled "The Final Stage".  It stars the girl who played misa-misa in the death note live action movies as Nao and seems fairly awesome.  I already got the first 3 eps of the first season on my computer for watching and will give you guys a report back when I've finished them up.  If ya'll wanna watch em, just run a search on tokyotosho or go to www.d-addicts.com , though I suggest just searching off tokyotosho as the d-addicts website is an ungodly mess.

*edit*
It's great and you should feel bad about yourself if you don't watch it.    Nao is pretty much perfect.  Perfect and adorable.  Also, d-addicts (who apparently are THE English subbers for the show) just released a batch torrent of the 1st season in 720p and the first episode of the 2nd season.  Go get it while the gettin' is good.

Re: Liar Game

New chapter (yesterday actually, but I'm just getting to it).

I don't understand... why didn't Bandana raise his hand? He knows that Nao wants to save everyone, and probably raising his hand would encourage the other infected to raise their hand... what did he have to lose?

Re: Liar Game

it would expose them as they were seen together and it would be suspicious. They just need the other one to show themself.

Re: Liar Game

Plus we are still not entirely sure of all that Akiyama said to Bandana. Maybe he advised against revealing himself?

I read the rest of the Roots Of A spin offs. Apart from the first one with Akiyama I hated all the others....they didn't have any resemblance to the main series at all. Some of it was just too fantastical for what is mainly a fairly realistic series. Green disease, fortune tellers, destined lovers?...Didn't even get to find out what really happens at the end of the Divination story.

Re: Liar Game

Akiyama's plan is to make the group distrust Bandana I guess?

I don't know how he's going to get off convincing people he can make that stupid toy identify infected though.

Also; I thought who was infected changed every round? I guess not?

Re: Liar Game

I haven't looked, but I only ever found one subbed version of the original drama and it had chinese subtitles. : /

So if anyone has a link for that as well that would be cool.

What about the reverse? He said that people was starting to suspect that Bandana-man is infected, so he'll help a little to convince everyone that bandana is infected and use one of nao's lil' plans.. i guess?

nah, that sounds obvious and all the obvious assumptions i make about this manga are false.

Re: Liar Game

Hmm I wonder how he is doing that trick...there's got to be a logical explanation.  I have no idea how it helps figure out unless the person holding it all of a sudden gets afraid that it will reveal they are infected and will give it away through expression/reaction.

Also I think the rounds ending is just a way to give everyone insight as to how the rounds are going, currently 10 normal 2 infected, but at the end of round 2 if it goes 9 normal 3 infected people will start freaking out, naturally that is the point of this game.

I still don't see this thing ending w/o the only two teams advancing.  The other 6 are lost souls...

Re: Liar Game

The stick trick doesn't look that complicated. I just can't get my brain into physics mode to figure it out.

I think because the longer piece is on the far end tilting the stick forward/back on the opposite end will make it move. As long as you do this gently you can make it seem that the smaller one doesn't move. Something along those lines I'd guess anyway.

As for how it helps spot an infected I do think it will make someone nervous. My guess he'd maybe use it on himself, then on Nao then on Bandana. On Bandana he'd say that it had detected he was infected. Cause everyone already suspects he is infected it might help them believe it works making the other infected person more nervous and reveal himself.

Hmm, just found this. If anyone was wondering, they also have season 1 there.

Also, it looks like the Movie, Liar Game: Final Stage, will be released in March, 2010.

For those wondering, I found CityShrimp's Blog, they didn't necessarily slow down, they took a week off for Thanksgiving.

So don't lose hope in their speeds yet.

Looks like I was sort of right about the trick and the bluff. Not sure what the true foolproof method the employee seems to have spotted is though.

Re: Liar Game

Another chapter.

Nothing too shocking, they finally got some contact going. Yokoya seems to be making a move at the end though.

He might suggest someone else hold the stick. Seems like a fairly easy way to reveal this trick?

Re: Liar Game

Not up-to-date on the manga gah, Null is taking so long!!), so I won't comment on that.

However, I've been watching the second season of the drama series, and I gotta say Akiyama is getting really annoying. I swear, I didn't find him that unbearable in the manga or even the first season of the series, but his character is really throwing me off now. Overall, they are sticking to the manga, but the few details here and there that they change do tend to annoy me. This is not coming from a "manga elitist" perspective, but how it ultimately impacts what is shown on and narrated on screen.

Re: Liar Game

With the way OneManga has changed their search features I tried looking up mangas similar to Liar Game.  I found http://www.onemanga.com/Gamble_Fish/ and it seems to be pretty good, a little extreme at times, but the rules seem to be fair.  They even had a card game similar that of the one we saw in Liar Game.

I'm about 17 chapters in and liking it, let me know what you think.

Re: Liar Game

Nice find!! i also tried to look for similar mangas before but no luck. i was kinda relutant at first but that one seems pretty good also. his character seems somewhat interesting, he has a different view of the world and is pretty smart too. i only guessed the misdirection part in his theory so i was surprised after he explained everything.

cool =o
