I was wondering about how the con guy just walked in on the thing too. But he is a "Master of Disguise", so whatever. ![]()
The end of the game was predictable, but it made sense like I was hoping. I'm glad it didn't just jump into stereotypical "animal" territory, where the guy has some mysterious power that can open the safe or something.
But what's funny is, the whole situation could've been avoided if Nao just put the money in a bank account.
What a retard.

That wouldn't work. The money she withdrew to pay at the end wouldn't have the right serials.

That'd be one way to get out of it, she loses by putting the money in the bank, and then she pays them back with the same money withdrawen. Break even.

That's an interesting point, but I'm not sure what would actually happen. This way the Liar Game people would only break even too, and I doubt that's what they want. So maybe they'd even demand 200 million from her...

^while that's possible, I think they don't care as long as they get they're million back, but hopefully through slave labor and extortion.
However, it's not against the rules to intentionally Lose the LIar game, leave the money in the bank account and get a little money with the interest that comes from it.
which would be like a 100 yen, but hey, she gets money out of the deal at least.
Edit: proves that I would leave the Liar Game untouched, and with 100 more yen than I came in with. ![]()

I would just buy into a high interest CD for however long the contest lasts, cash in, and keep the profit. But that's me. Or maybe just break into an opponent's house and rob them. ![]()

Using a suitcase and a safety deposit box WOULD work, keeping it safe until you can steal some from your opponent.
But then, you'd have issues getting it out, etc.
It's a game. It's also a game inside of a Manga made for entertaiment. The author would have definitely thought it out. If some random manga guy off the street can point out a flaw, then it's unreasonable to say no character could. Trying to find any loopholes this early on would be pretty stupid. But later, when the story has built up? Plenty of holes to satisfy those with a need to find every flaw in every thing.

I think they do care. Think about it, for the second round you can withdraw by paying half of your earnings, otherwise you go to the second round where surely they'll pull even more stuff like that. If the bank idea worked, both players would pay back the original amount and have no earnings. These dudes don't seem like they're just messing around for fun, they're in it for profit. But then like I said before, the entire premise and story would be impossible in real life and nothing would actually pan out like it does in the manga. Best to just stop thinking about how dumb the characters are and try to enjoy it.

If you know where I can get a 30-day high interest CD, do tell!

I have no idea what the hell you're trying to say, but I'm sure it's dumb and wrong so don't bother explaining anyways.

... Wow, Foolio, way to own Codexx! ![]()
but seriously that's rude as hell! ![]()
Foolio, I know this wouldn't pan out like it would in real life, but in "realistic" situational comics I try and think of what I'd do in their position. But in this manga's case, it just makes the whole story hilariously foolish.
But based on how this manga's going, I'm gonna assume that their gonna try and stop the Liar Game entirely, but I'm just curious on how you'd do such a thing. (Well, BESIDES calling the police, however the lack of evidence wouldn't put the tide in your favor.)

Anyone dling the J-Drama with the link I posted can go right a head and cancel the torrent. The subs are in Chinese. (or Korean. Or Japanese for all I know, just not anything I can read).

Meh I get sick of his dumb posts that try to sound deep, especially when they're completely unintelligible. Telling him not to explain it is more of a courtesy than an insult; it will save him from a lot of bashing that would occur once I knew what to attack him for.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I do that too. But we've hit sort of a dead end here. Especially since what one would do in real life here would never make for an interesting story, and the interesting story would never occur in real life ![]()

Honestly, I have no idea what exactly they're going to try or how. At this point the story could take a path as ridiculous and far-fetched as the author wants, or it could stay pretty conservative and play out very linearly for the pure purpose of trying to explore human psychology.

That's unfortunate, but I might still download it for the hell of it if I'm bored. But also I can understand Japanese decently so yeah.

I hope it sticks to the psychological route. When it comes to a character like Nau, I want to see her descend. It might be the cynical jerkoff in me, but when there's an overly positive character in a story like this, I want to see them get crushed.
That isn't to say that I hate overly positive characters. My personal favorite is Fuura Kafuka.

The first part of your post got me to thinking, I normally like overly optimistic characters who think theres always a situation were everyone can win. Mainly the reason I like them is because in at least some small way I want to think that everyone can win, so I see those characters a bit like myself. In this manga, while I don't particularly want to see Nao give in to greed... I don't think I'd mind much if she did. More or less, I don't care what happens to her. I'm really reading to see what kind of people it turns out are behind the game, and most of all what kind of person Akiyama turns out to be.

I just read the first volume. Quite interesting and clever although towards the end of the first round, it seemed a bit predictable to me. I don't think the art was anything special either, too simple. And one more thing, is it against the rules of the game to use violence? Because I'm sure the con artist guy would have some contacts in his line of work that could rough up the teacher. Would have saved all the trouble.
Offline
I doubt they can use violence since the players are still bound by the law of Japan, the only reason why stealing from the opponent is not a crime is because the money does not belong to them (at least not yet), but it belongs to the Liar Game Company. Only at the end of each round the players get to keep the money as their own.
It's probably stated somewhere or it's just my way of understanding the story, can't really remember since i watched it long ago.
So yea, violence is not an option.

Read all the chapters late last night even though I had a 7.00am start. I thought it was pretty good. Looking forward to the next chapter although I don't think the second game sounds as interesting.
And does anyone else get the feeling that Akiyama might have done the old briefcase switcheroo and Fujisawa has a completely empty briefcase? You never actually see it opened again.

Liar Game had to be the worst drama ever. Shota Matsuda is very cute though.
Can't say I'll be reading this one anytime soon.

woah... DB, a manga? This is like a first. And a really good one too. It's a shame I only collect English-language manga.
I might make an exception, like I did with Bitter Virgin, but that's not likely. Excellent choice, DB

Actually, its third. Futaba-kun Change! and Fairy tail would be one and two.
I don't try to get hooked on manga, I hate the format honestly. Its just... good stories that havn't been picked up my anime companies... must be read.

christ freaking cliffhanger time to wait another month for null to release another chapter -_-

Great chapter. Just wish the releases were a bit more... prompt.
But nothing I can do about it.

It was a good chapter. At least it ended the cliffhanger, and explained how the next part of the series will go. I'm hooked, DB, and I blame you, since I'm 3 for 3 addicted to the manga's you post. This next part of the game much deeper than the last, and I can't wait to see how it turns out. I, too, am sad it takes so long for a release. Good series, slow releases. ![]()
