They have released up to chapter 32.
As I thought, this round is looking fairly interesting. It seems that the other team has someone Akiyama will have a bit of a time matching wits with, for once.
Number 33 is out, this new guy seems smarter than Akiyama. And whats with those Mice?

Offline
I bet the mice can read minds lol. No but they must have something to do with how he knew the amount.

Offline
maybe it was just a pet? anyone ever think of that?
Offline
Yeah, that could be it. I guess I might be thinking too hard.

Offline
Yeah I kinda figured it was a pet. I meant 'whats the deal' as in 'why did he bring his mice with him?'.
EDIT: 34 is out.

Lot's of new chapters are out for this on OneManga. Think a new group is scanlating it and they are going very quick, nearly a new chapter every day. They are just starting volume VI which begins with chapter 50.
Wonder if either of the two will blab? I kinda expect one of them will, although Akiyama must have planned for this I think.

I liked Akiyama calling Nao the boss of the South. It was an interesting perspective, even if it was a complete lie.
I do like this new group, great speeds.

Offline
I didn't think it was a complete lie. She is obviously not the brains of the operation but I do think she is the leader. I think most of the South would be split between calling her or Akiyama leader but in the end Akiyama would follow Nao so it works out about the same.

While from the perspective of the other members of the South she may be considered a leader, I think if Akiyama and Nao really disagreed on something, Nao would be the one to concede to Akiyama long before Akiyama would consider taking up Nao's side. So that's why I think her as the leader is a lie.
But I see where you're coming from.

I never really considered them disagreeing but I'm not sure Nao would be as helpless as that.
Nao seems to follow Akiyamas plans pretty happily just now so the only instance I could see them disagreeing would be if one of Akiyamas plans would cause a lot of grief to someone and Nao not wanting that to happen. I think Nao might stand her ground then.
Talking about it having Akiyama and Nao falling out sounds like it could be a potential plot device sometime in the future.

Well. I saw you guys have this thread with new posts the other day (the 15th) and read the opening post. I read the first volume, then watched the release dates on onemanga and read the thread just as I read the manga, in chronological order.
I'm now caught up. Very good read. I'm enjoying the psychological depth, to this.
It seems to me since the start of round three that two things will definately happen;
1. One of the two main characters will go to round four.
2. Due to Nao's influence and the overall hope in the manga, a lot of people will be saved or set 'even', somehow.
Being that this is a team game, it's likely that Nao and Akiyama will go to the next round together. I believe they will win in points as well as having the most if not all the money.
As to chapter 50 and the two potential traitors; Pay close attention to the very last words they exchanged with one another. It is obviously the twist to the next chapter.
Finally; Yokoya. He will not need saving because he *has* money. So there is no need to pity him if he lost 'big time'. Understand?
Anyone else with thoughts? This thread was dead for some time. I hope the three of us are not the only ones to hold a discussion, now. :]

Well, naturally. I would assume that eventually Aakiyama and/or Nao will face the people running the game. Or 'win' all of the rounds until the last one.

That does seem to be the trend.

I now question why Yokoya joined the game. I believe it was either the latest chapter or the one before it that showed he is representing someone else just like Akiyama is. Its not that it seems his personality wouldnt be drawn to the situation, but I think that there is a deeper purpose.
I have several long shot theories, but I will keep them to myself for now.
In the long run, both of them could confess and Nao/Akiyama could still win this round. The most dangerous thing ( i think ) he did wasnt to get people on his team's side, but he sowed some powerful seeds in the opposing team's side. Im interested to see how that turns out.

Offline
I might not be remembering right but didn't Fukunaga get into the game the same way? By taking someone elses spot when they moved to round 2?
As for why, I'm not sure. Judging by what happened at the school it seems like he enjoys joining a new society and then gaining control. Presumably he did the same in other schools since it mentions he left the one in the story. Possibly wants to join/control the Liar Game corporation?

So After reading 54, Im betting we will find out that while Yokoya was doing his doiminearing thing during the last round, his teamates revolted on him and transfered all of the money for the other team. after all he was in the inspection room most of the day.

Offline
It's probably more like Akiyama convinced the bald guy who supposedly betrayed them to double transfer the money. The money that he brought back and showed Yokoya was actually all theirs because it has been through the machine twice and is now stamped as theirs. You could do that if you had both teams cards. It'd be easy to fool Yokoya that Hasagawa (baldy) was not a traitor if he acted like he was a double agent by telling Yokoya the "plan" except the real plan is diffrent than what he told the other two. Akiyama could probably have told Hasagawa that his team really was ensured to win, but Yokoya still controlled who made the money and he could still end up with a huge debt even after they "won". Hasagawa if he was smart would understand that and betray Yokoya even though his team was winning.
That is the most likely way to win as of chapter 54 that I see. At least that's how I'd write it but a writer can come up with anything really.
Offline
That's genius. I didn't think of that. Damn. You probably ruined the next chapter for me. Hahaha. But still, the translater is ill, I believe, so we'll wait a little bit.

Ehh I still think its bandana

Offline
No way, it makes more sense.
Put it this way; in a story like this, the way to know for sure is to get in the head of the one who has no idea of the pwnage about to come. baldy and team south had no thought bubbles. Long hair either, but who knows about him. Any of them could be in on it. Awesome.

Offline
I get the feeling that there's a good reason behind south sending Nao to all of the final inspections, other than the 'Nao is so friendly people make mistakes' one.
Also, Phased probably has it, or something close to it. I can't really foresee much else that could score South the comeback win.

Offline
You know I just had to laugh about something. I was considering the thought that it could be the bald guy who was betraying them, but something didnt sit with me quite right about that. So I decided to reread the last 4 chapters and see what it might have been. While reading it, I realized that we are doing things exactly like the people in the game. We provide our best thought out theories, and then have that "What an amazing idea" moment when someone comes up with something we didnt think of. I couldnt help but laugh at myself.
I still have my doubts about baldy, but I think Im just going to wait to find out if im right or wrong. Atleast I dont have millions of dollars riding on it. lol

The thing is the most likely situation in a written story is usually the least likely to happen. A story like this gets off on fooling your expectations to give that twist of an ending, being supprised scores entertainment points. It's a story, you can write ANYTHING to happen and it does not always need to be a happy ending. If people liked the characters in this story enough they could write it in that they lose this round so people could see them again next round... winning is basically killing off most of the characters here.

I think Bandana has probably played a part as well. After going through the blindfold test and surviving I think they will probably make him have done something good if that makes sense.

Offline
No. Because we were in Bandana's head, and he was all nervous the whole time. He's watching like all of us.
