"I guess there's only one person after you, Jamaar," was the first thing that Brax, or anyone for that matter, Jamaar had heard after Tsubaki's odd actions.  He had spent most of that time rearranging his clothing.

"Make sure you don't ruin your clothes!" Tsubaki mocked.  It got a decent laugh out of the rest of the group.  Jamaar didn't seem to peeved about it.  In fact, he didn't even bother to respond to it.  He just got ready to deal with Brax.

"Are we going to start?" Brax asked

"I was waiting for you to go first," Jamaar replied, starting the fight.  Brax moved in for an uppercut, Jamaar jumped back.  Brax charged for a punch, and Jamaar moved to the side.  It happened just like that for a little while, with Brax attacking and Jamaar dodging over and over.  Jamaar was just waiting for an opprutunity to strike back.  Brax's next move allowed for that opportunity.  Brax shifted his footwork and tried a more powerful punch.  Instead of dodging, Jamaar placed his left hand on Brax's wrist, and his right hand just behing his right hand, and held tight. As soon as the punch had stopped, Jamaar began to heat his hand, changing the temperature from 25 to 68 degrees Celsius.  Steam started to come from his hands.

"Hot! Hot! Hot!" Brax yelped in pain.  Jamaar now let go and gave him a light kick in the chest, that only put him off balance.  With that, Jamaar backed off, while Brax rubbed his hand.

"How did you do that?" Vincent asked from the side

"Oh that?  That came from the absorb absorb fruit." Jamaar responded

"How could absorbing things allow you to make my arm that hot!?" Brax yelled from the side

"Easy.  my powers allow me to use the powers of inanimate objects.  For example, my gloves allow me to heat up my hand.  I simply transfered the heat from my hand to you.  Of course it doesn't come without pain on my own side.  I had to heat my hands up to the temperature that you felt.  It really hurt.  I can also..." Jamaar was saying when Brax interupted him:

"Okay, you're in, just please, stop talking."

Tanner looked up from the ground to see who had tripped him and subsequently ruined his "impressive" run-off. It was a big muscular man in jeans and a shirt with the sleeves ripped off; brass-knuckles gleamed in the sunlight.
This does not bode well...
"Did you just say you're a bounty hunter?" the man growled.
"Why yes. Yes I did." Tanner said, adopting an aristocratic tone and springing to his feet, "But you know, it's not true." Tanner whispered.
"Really?" The man obviously didn't believe him.
"Well naturally, my good man. Do I look like a bounty hunter to you?"
The stranger surveyed the shorter man for a time.
"No" he finally answered, "you look like an idiot or a pansy to me."
Tanner dropped, "Ack, ok that hurt."
"Just stay out of my way, moron."
Tanner stared after him and the lady from before ran up and asked if he was ok.
"Ah, it warms my heart to know such a lovely princess worries over me, but fear not, my lady." Tanner grinned and his voice became more serious, "After all, I am a bounty hunter."

Tanner walked along the dock, following the brass knuckle bearing muscle man; aka Ryan Strensigner of the Brabia pirates. The Brabian pirates were so named for their leader's reverence of battle. Much like the Elbafiens, Lef sought immortality through battle; however unlike the giants, Lef saw death and estruction as noteworthy rather than the battle iself. According to the information Brax gathered, only three of the crew recieved bounties because they were the ones who killed the most. The crew would likely have garnered more reknown if they had not kept to small islands.

The hunter watched as the prey stepped into ankle high water at the end of the dock and disappeared behind a small cliff. Rather than follow directly, Tanner began scaling the cliff and followed once he found something resembling a path. After fifteen minutes of walked, Tanner saw a cove and men huddled around tents sharpening weapons, fighting each other, or drinking.

Ryan headed towards a man sitting on the tallest chair in the center of all the activity, surrounded by women, beer, and weapons; Lef...
No doubt reporting me...Perhaps I should stop yelling things into the sky...

After a minute, Lef stood and addressed the Brabian pirates.
"Men! To the north are sandbeds which are unpassable and your first mate and company; to the east are corals and the second mate with close to an army; the west faces sheer rock cliffs and some of our best fighters against pasture people; and this south side only has us...What does this mean?! It means there is no excape from our onslaught! Go forth! For glory! For Fame! FOR YOUR RIGHT TO IMMORTALITY!"

Before Lef had finished, Tanner had already begun to dash towards the docks, hissing at his baby den den mushi.
"Vincent! Come in!"
"Tanner! D-don't scare me like that!"
"The Brabrians are going to attack the island from all sides! Whoever you have in mind, send them out! Tell them this is their test; a race! To save as many people as possible and stop the pirates!"

This time, it's too much work to edit... so my post goes BEFORE omnideus' post in the chronology.


IC: "Okay new recruits, your final test begins now! The Brabian Pirates are attacking the island! We must save as many innocent people as we can, and stop the pirates!" Vincent cried out.

Elyse smiled and nodded. She drew her swords and formed them into the bow. Drawing a flower from her headband and nocking it to the bow, she ran off into the forest behind her. As she ran, her sharp eyes picked up motion on the shoreline far in front and to the left of her. Nearing it, she saw the flag of the Brabian pirates. Two men guarded the area around the flag. Elyse quickly ducked behind a tree and aimed the bow at one of the men. I shouldn't kill them... it would be a dishonor to win a fight by hiding... Elyse thought and lowered the bow. She aimed for one man's hand, which held a pistol. Elyse let the floral arrow fly. The arrow flew straight and buried itself into the man's hand. He let out a cry and dropped the pistol. D*** it... I should have realized he would make noise... now those guys' friends will come... Elyse ducked back behind the tree as the man took a looking glass and peered into the forest. Seeing nothing, he cursed and pulled the flower from his hand. Elyse quickly drew a second flower and fired it through the injured man's head. The man's yelling ceased, and he fell silently onto the sand. The other man looked into the forest with a worried look on his face. He fired a shot from his pistol in the direction the flower had come from. Elyse drew back as the bullet snapped into a tree near her, knocking off large chips of bark. She looked cautiously around the tree again and saw a gang of six more pirates arriving. Elyse could barely make out the voices.

"Who the hell was responsible for this!?" one of the recent arrivals asked

"I- I don't know," replied the pirate from before. "Kurt here was standing guard when his hand was pierced by... this" The pirate held up the flower that had gone through Kurt's hand.

"Some story, Ed. But a flower couldn't kill a man." The other pirate stopped short as Elyse let loose another arrow, which passed through one of the new pirates' head and stuck. "Okay, Ed... I take that back. Where the hell are they coming from?"

Ed pointed. "Over there." The other pirate followed his finger and saw the transparent green tip of Elyse's bow. He raised a shotgun and fired at the bow tip. As he expected, the green object seemed to jump back behind hte tree.

"There's your culprit, Ed. Keep your eye on that tree." The pirate began to walk towards the tree. Quick as a flash, Elyse loosed another flower. With seemingly inhuman speed, the pirate snatched the flower out of the air.

S***... he aught it... Elyse thought. She drew a blueish flower from her headband and carefully straightened the stem. She quickly nocked and fired the flower. Again, the pirate caught it. A second later, he let out a cry of pain. He dropped the flower as blood dripped from his hand. A moment later, a second blue flower was in his arm. The pirate stumbled, as if drunk.

"What the hell did you do to me?" the pirate asked.

Elyse didn't respond.

"Poison of some sort?"

Elyse nodded.

"D*** you, b****!" The pirate cursed Elyse as he tripped and fell. Elyse said nothing, but fired another arrow, hitting and instantly killing Ed. The four remaining pirates whipped out revolvers and began firing at Elyse. Elyse ducked behind the tree and reached up to grab a flower from her headband. She found none.

Crap... Elyse looked around to find something she could fire. Nothing. Dangit... Elyse took a vial of liquid from her sheath and tied it to a stick with a stip of cloth she tore from her skirt. She fired the makeshift arrow at the group of pirates. The arrow struck one's foot and the vial shattered. The piratewho had been hit laughed.

"She missed. What a los-" The pirate was cut off as he was sent through the air by a small explosion at his feet. The remaining three pirates took a step back.

Hmm... so they don't know that I'm out of ammo... that's good. Elyse smiled. She looked around once more, hoping to find at least one thing she could shoot. Nothing. Elyse sighed and quietly crawled closer, staying hidden in the undergrowth. She got near the pirates and again looked for something to shoot. Still nothing. This sucks... I guess I'll have to be creative. Elyse grinned. She ducked behind a nearby tree and climbed it with ease. Near the top, she found what she was looking for- a squirrel's nest. She reached in, pulled out a wriggling squirrel, and slid down the tree. Elyse thought for a moment about fiing the squirrel at the pirates, but dismissed the idea as more cruel to the squirrel than her other option. Elyse silently laid the bow down beside her and threw the squirrel at the nearest pirate. Quite mad now, the squirrel scratched and bit the pirate as he tried to get it off of his face. He eventually succeeded, but only because the squirrel jumped to the next pirate. Both squirrel-attacked pirates ran to the water to wash the blood off of their faces and Elyse jumped out of the forest with her emerald swords drawn. The pirate still standing had no time to react as he turned and twin swords were rammed through his chest. Elyse pulled the swords from the dead man's body and rand at the other two pirates. One pirate swung his foot at Elyse, but she spun to the side and cut two deep cuts into the other pirate's back. Without a sound, he fell facefirst into the ocean. The last pirate looked at Elyse for a moment before drawing his gun. With no time to aim, he raised his gun and fired, seconds before two swords crossed paths at his neck. The pirate's head fell from his body as Elyse was thrown back by the impact of the bullet. She screamed and grabbed her stomach. Gasping for air, she tried to crawl to the forest to find a plant to heal herself, but to no avail. Unable to withstand the pain, Elyse collapsed unconscious on the beach.

"Hey, it looks like you have an idea to keep them busy," Jamaar said "So I think I'll head out and see if I find some pirates to beat.  And maybe one of the bounties if I'm lucky."  With that, Jamaar was gone.  He had wandered a few streets without finding anyone before realizing that it would be best to get to higher ground to check out the rest of the town.  There were no incredibly tall buildings in town, so had to settle for the 4 story building that he had ended up in front of.  He couldn't jump quite that high, even with his cloak, so he had to go into the building and climb to the top.  He charged through the door to find that he was in a hotel.

"Hello sir.  Welcome to our inn.  Do you want a room?" The woman at the front desk asked in a very mechanical way.

"I won't need a room, thank you," Jamaar replied while running to the stairs "I just need to get to the roof."  He ran up the stairs, all the way to the roof.  When he got there, he began observing the rest of city.  He first looked to the south, then looked around in a clockwise direction.  Things looked more grim as he turned around.  He saw all the people gathered on the outskirts of town, and the small groups of pirates dotted through the city.  He realized it would be impossible to stop each man individually, so he had to target the people in charge.  The people in charge would probably be in those larger groups on the outskirts.  Now, which one of them do I investigate? Jamaar pondered to himself.  It was a hard decision to make, and he was bad with decisions.  He was sitting there for a several minutes, and at least made one decision: he wanted to get off of the roof.  He jumped down, and it was there that he got, what he believed to be a sign.  It was a crab of some kind.  He looked at it and thought about its pincers, and then remembered an old strategy he had heard of:  the pincer attack.  He knew that the pirates had come from the south, so something interesting was to the North.  He made this decision after forgetting there were pirates to the East and West.  So he charged to the north, prepared for battle along the way.

OOC: This begins Jamaar's lone journey to the north, and he hasn't encountered any fights yet.

occ: omni, tanner is on the south side of the island, jamaar headed towards the north.

Tanner jumped up and kicked down on the cliff causing the rocks to crumble and fall down the smallest passage to the docks. The Brabian pirates hadn't reached that area yet and so that gave Tanner began knocking as many obstacles down as possible until he was finaly satisfied; and satisfied meant a voice reached his ears, "What the hell is this?!"

The hunter looked down and saw Ryan surveying the wall of rocks before him. He tried to climb it but the rocks were too loose and he fell back to the water.
Lef isn't with them...
As the men below him laughed, Tanner looked in the general direction of the camp. There was zero possibility that Lef, the leader and most blood thirsty of them all, would pass up a chance to attack an unsuspecting town...so...

Realization struck him as he realized the only explanation was Lef was going to attack from a different direction. He looked down and noticed that some of the men were beginning to make some headway. Tanner ran through the opinions; if he stayed, he could definitely stop them but then Lef was sure to destroy at least half the town before someone could stop him...If he left, the docks would be left undefended. A second passed; Tanner made his decision and dashed back towards the pirates' camp.
The docks still have some tough sailors, and the Vincent and Brax are sure to send some people to help.

Rain and Kari finaly reached the docks, and they finaly found a good spot to put the makeshift amplifyers.  As they stood there on the dock, Rain took out her mini Den Den mushi "Vincent, the amplifyers are in position"

"Good. Now get away from the docks!" Came the answer.  As Rain looked up, she noticed a ship bearing down on the docks already.

"Kari." Rain said "Let's go." At that the girls ran from the dock.  And ran into a crowd of charging pirates.  "Lets go the other way!" Rain yelled, reversing direction.  Kari followed suit.

"Laidies! Why the rush?" One pirate shouted.

"Your ugly that's why." Rain said, with almost no emotion.  The pirates seemed to stop for a moment, then ran on with renenwed vigour.

"WHAT'S THAT MEAN!" They shouted "HOW DARE YOU INSULT US!!!"

One of them fired a gun at Rain, but the bullet simply passed thrugh her as she turned that bit of her torso to nitrogen, but she had some problems turning it back.  It's too warm, too much nitro is evaporating...

Tanner pulled himself up over the cliff and found he was standing on a pasture that overlooked the small island. The pirates had already begun to move. Off in the north someone was fighting a group while the rest kept moving. The east held a smaller group, they had yet to move. Tanner turned to his left and saw a small group moving towards a larger one, which was marching towards the town.

Determined to stop Lef, Tanner sprang forward and silently pounced on the four opponents. The hunter leapt forward and punched the slowest prey square in the jaw. Before the other three could react, Tanner grabbed the first by the neck and slammed him into his other friend; both were knocked unconscious. Then Tanner pivoted on his heel and kicked the third man unconscious. The fourth one, Lef, pulled a gun, but before he could fire it silver flashed and the weapon was gone. Then Tanner spun again and silver flashed once more and the pirate was knocked to the ground. The hunter replaced his weapon in its holster in one swift movement, coinciding with the thump Lef's body made as he fell to the earth out cold.
That was too easy...

Concerned, Tanner knelt down and looked at Lef; and was shocked. The man lying before him had the same long, mess of hair; identical facial features but it was less scared and much younger.
Lef has a son?!

The hunter rose and looked around but nothing in particular stood out besides the giant pirate ship making its way to the docks.
A trap...? That would explain why Lef's boy said nothing of a hunter's presence...

Tanner doubted the giant ship would bombard the town into oblivion. No matter how barbaric the Brabian pirates were they still held to a twisted code of honor. The absolute rule was under no circumstances was one to attack a fellow.

Vincent fended off another attacker and opened his Den Den Mushi, “Brax,” He was calling his other teammate, “Have you found Tanner yet? Is everyone okay?”

“No.” Brax panted into his Den Den Mushi, “Elyse has a bullet in her gut. She’ll be alright, but I need to find a safe place for her. We might not be in the fight for a little while.”

“Damn.” Vincent muttered, “Take care of Elyse. I’ll tell Tanner to find me instead. You keep the injured safe.”

“Got it.” Brax replied before hanging up.

“Tanner,” Vincent was now calling his leader, “There’s been a change in plans. You need to find me.”

“I’ll be there as soon as I can.” Tanner replied, “There are a lot more guys here than we thought though. How are we going to beat them all and keep the islanders safe?”

“We’ll need to get them all in one place.” Vincent muttered, “I’ll try to think of something by the time you get here. You should do the same.” Vincent eyed his comrades, who despite being very strong, were significantly outnumbered. “Gotta go Tanner.” Vincent hung up the Den Den Mushi and pushed Rain, much to her surprise flat on her ass.

“What was that for?” Rain barked at Vincent, “You could try fighting the enemy instead of me! I mean-” Rain stopped short. The temperature around her dropped by just a couple of degrees; she was in the shade.

“The sun is beginning to set.” Vincent started, “Stay in the shade and fight where you’re best suited until it gets dark. I still don’t really get the specifics of your devil fruit right now, but I do know higher temperature and sunlight makes it harder for you to fight. Sorry for the push.”

“…No problem.” Rise was a little taken aback at Vincent’s observation, but she got up and kept fighting nonetheless. Vincent, on the other hand, was already running towards a thoroughly surrounded Kari.

“Watch out!” Vincent yelled as he grabbed Kari from under an enemy blade and swung her around. “You nearly got sliced!” Vincent looked down at Kari, who while thankful, was just as disgruntled as Rain was.

“You don’t have to keep dodging attacks for me.” Kari sighed as Vincent ran back and forth with her still in his hold.

“Well I’d be lying if I said my intentions were purely professional,” Vincent smiled in a corny effort to explain, “but even still I was originally trying to help.” Vincent set Kari down and looked over to Samson in an effort to determine if he needed help or not. Vincent decided that he would probably do more harm than good when Samson started cackling and flipping his antennae after every pirate he sent flying. “H-he’ll be fine…” Vincent muttered to himself.

Vincent was lost in thought trying to account for his comrades. He was worried due to the fact that they were fighting ten to one, even though all of his new nakama were strong. "Everybody is about as well positioned as they're gonna get right now." He thought, "There are a lot of pirates though..." Unfortunately Vincent was so lost that he was no longer paying attention to the fight, and a brave pirate decided try to strike him down.

“You really have to be more careful.” Tanner smiled as he blocked the blade that was headed for the back of Vincent’s head, “You’re so busy worrying that you forgot to fight.”

“Dammit…” Vincent grunted.

“What?” Tanner laughed. He and Vincent were now back to back trying to fend off as many pirates as possible. “Would you prefer I let you get cut up?”

“No!” Vincent laughed back, “But I thought I was supposed to be looking out for you.”

"We'll look out for eachother." Tanner said as his demeanor became uncommonly serious. “So how are we going to get all the pirates in one place?” Tanner changed the subject. The men continued to support each other while talking.

“Does that mean you couldn’t come up with anything?” Vincent smiled at his captain.

“Nothing that great.” Tanner smiled back.

“Well it’s a well known fact that pirates don’t much like their ships being burned, right?” Vincent started.

“Well I don’t think anyone really likes their ship being burned, but sure.” Tanner played along.

“And what better motivation than seeing your flag, the symbol of your crew, your pride as a man of the sea, and your connection to your nakama go up in flame?” Vincent smiled, “If you can’t think of one it’s because there is none. These guys would go frantic and come running if they saw their flag burning.”

“Get to the somewhat obvious point Vincent.” Tanner sighed in mock boredom.

“We’re gonna blow that ship sky high and let them watch their own flag burn!” Vincent said with a slightly evil grin, “They’ll all come running right to this spot when they see that skull and crossbones burn!”

- "OI! ANYONE ELSE?" Samson grinned as he looked around. Apparently, the pirates decided to run further inland to deal with Vincent and his crew. "Hmph. I'll teach 'em ta ignore me!" Lookin over his shoulder, Samson saw the pirates' ship out of the corner of his eye. Hehehe... That'll do perfectly... Taking a running start, Samson dove into the sea with a gigantic splash. Hearing this, everyone paused for a second, looked, and resumed fighting.

- After smacking another pirate in the head with his broom-handle, Vincent glanced out to the water. I guess the Samson was thinking the same thing I was... Just then, a sword whistled past his head. "Whoa!"

- Out in the water, the fishman hurried through the water until he reached the underside of the pirates' ship. "Well, well, well... I wonder what I should wreck first?"

Elyse's eyes fluttered for a brief moment as she was being carried by Brax. She groaned and turned her head towards Brax's ear.

"B-Brax... t-th-ere's a vial of b-blue liquid at the b-bottom of my sheath... please pour it in my mouth..." Elyse's voice stopped and her head hung limp again. Brax thought for a second before setting the girl down on the sand and removing the glass vial from her sheath. He pried open Elyse's lips and poured the liquid into her mouth. Elyse's eyes opened almost immediately. She backflipped to her feet as if uninjured. Brax looked strangely at her.

"What is that stuff?" he asked.

"A form of adrenaline. For a short time, it will keep me conscious and active." Elyse answered, completely unlike her normal quiet self.

Brax smiled. "Well then, let's hurry up and get to the others."

Elyse nodded and quickly ran off along the shore. A short time later, she arrived near the others, slightly twitching from the potent energy chemical. She ran over to Tanner, trampling an surprised pirate on the way. "What do you need, captain?" she asked.

Vincent replied for Tanner. "We need the flag burned down to attract the pirates, but other than that, we're fine at the moment. And why the hell are you twitching!?"

"Concentrated energy," Elyse blurted out. "And burning the flag? Done." Elyse drew her swords and joined them. She grabbed Vincent's stick and rubbed a crushed flower on it. Striking it against the ground like a giant match, she nocked it to the bow and fired it with lethal accuracy. The flaming wood pierced the Brabian Jolly Roger and set it ablaze. Elyse grinned before her eyes began to close. "Dangit, the energy is gone..." Elyse said, beginning to run off. She didn't get far when she fell over, unconscious once more.

Vincent looked from the burning flag to the fallen girl. That chick's gonna either help us greatly or get us all killed... he thought.

Vincent picked Elyse up, almost endearingly at first, and then started to shake her. “You took my broom stick.” He whimpered, “How am I supposed to defend myself now?”

“Are you serious?” Tanner was cracking up, “We’ll get you another broom stick after we finish off the pirates.” Tanner was laughing hard now, “Or was that one special?”

“What if it was?” Vincent mumbled as he swung Elyse away from an enemy blade.

“Then the fact that it just got used as an arrow is even funnier!” Tanner was slapping his knee laughing now. He wasn’t even trying to fight.

“Stop shaking the injured unconscious girl and help us fight.” Brax grunted as he fended off a blade headed for Tanner’s laughing form.

“I’m trying to keep her safe now at least.” Vincent grunted as he rolled out from other another blade. “At least I-” BOOM! Vincent was cut off when the pirate ship literally blew sky high. “W-was that the ship blowing straight into the air?” Vincent was flabbergasted.

“I found the powder room.” Samson smiled from behind the here bickering men, “I was originally just going to poke some holes in it, but…”

“I thought burning wasn’t your specialty!” Vincent was hysterical.

“Turns out I’m a quick learner.” Samson flicked his antennae nonchalantly, but smiled grimly, “Matches plus lots and lots of gun powder equals that.” Samson pointed at the burning hunk of ship that still sat on the water.

“Who the hell did this to our ship?!” Angry pirates screamed as they poured into the docks, “We’ll kill them!”

“That was a good turn out!” Brax chuckled, “I wonder if Lef will show up too.”
