At the docks of the island, several flagless ships, large to small, sit with a guard or two trying to entertain themselves. Just past the docks is the shore; a small wall keeps the ocean and the city apart. Standing on the wall and looking into the water, the bottom shines with coins, hundreds of coins. This is Las Grand Isle, where gambling and relaxation go hand and hand, where even the water seems to offer up treasure to play the games. Several large hotels, and many small motels, line the straight roads of the town, leading up the mountainside town. Farther back, in the more shady part of town, is the red light district, the bars and pubs, and even the betting rings for the most well known game to pirates, The Davy Back Fights. Here, at the top of the city, hidden behind the lavish hotels and casinos, is a pirate haven. Most of the fights are officiated at the same shore by the docks, where the water catches the coins and holds them for Davy Jones. There are rings, several rings for the competitions, as well as huge stands and even pirate hotels, which stand over the rings and allows people to watch the fights and bet on the crew they think will win. This island has been left alone by the Marines for one reason and one reason alone, a percentage of the profits from the casinos and the Davy Back betting rings.
“Hey! Waiter! All my berries on the Orange Pirate Crew, at the groggy ring!” Joseph “Lord Turtle” White (L.T. for short) yelled, two girls sitting at his sides smiled and one said, “Thanks for listening to me Ossan, I really think they will win this game.” L.T. sighed and lowered his head. “I’m telling you, all I need is a good shave, and I swear I look better with a shave.” “Stop calling him Ossan, he is obviously a handsome young man with a lot of berries.” The other one said, getting comfortable, her hand rubbing his chest. “That’s right!” L.T. said, and then let out a powerful laugh. His shield was currently being used as a chair for the three, and L.T. was sitting in the center, his arms wrapped around the waists of the girls, one bringing him a glass of rum. “You know how to treat a man!” He said, taking the glass and downing the rum easily. “And you know what women want Ossan.” The first girl said, holding a few berries. L.T.’s head once more dropped. “She just doesn’t listen, does she…?” He said under his breath. There was cheering from the crowd below him, and L.T. looked down over the side of the balcony seat he was in to see how the game was progressing.
Two of the three Orange Pirates where running towards the ball man of their opponents, the Windmill Pirates. Just as they where close to getting their target, both men where knocked by back a single man, sending both pirates flying across the field and into the wood of the stands. L.T. cringed, and let out a sigh, leaning back and putting his hand over his eyes. “I knew I should have went with the Windmill Pirates, but that face… that body… that stupid woman charm… I was weak.” L.T. said, slumping down into his chair. The sound of a whistle rang through the air, and over the speakers L.T. heard, “And the Windmill Pirates score! The game is over! Collect your bets now!” “Sir, if you do not have any more berries, then I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” The Waiter said, walking up to L.T.’s shield/chair. “Sorry Ossan… come back again.” “Later No-money Ossan.” The girls said, and L.T. lifted his shield easy and was escorted out of the high-class pirate casino/hotel.
A drunken pirate walked along the street and bumped into L.T., the pirate getting angry and drawing a blade. “Hey… Watch it old man, or I’ll gut you where you stand.” L.T. turned towards the man, dropping his shell shield, the stones beneath his shield shattering like glass. “Fine “young man” try it, I dare you, unless you are a coward.” L.T. said, standing a little hunched over, both arms open and hanging in front of him. The drunk moved forward, bring the sword down onto L.T.’s shoulder, the blade hitting a layer of scales. L.T. lifted one hand, his entire arm covered in scales and his fingers even where clawed, and grabbed the blade. “W-What… What are you old man?” The Drunk asked, trying to pull away. “Right now, I’m a pissed-off, broke man who ate the Kame Kame fruit.” L.T. said, lifting his head, his face scaly as well, his eyes like that of a beast. The drunk kept trying to pull back his blade, staring in horror at the man in front of him. L.T. snapped the sword in half, grabbed the man by his throat, and then threw him into the side of the casino/hotel, the man leaving an imprint in the wall. “Be grateful that I went easy on you, ungrateful pirate.”
“I was so close too… 2,000,000 Berries could have been mine, but I had to listen to the girl… I was going to get a hotel room, a nice shave… and maybe some “cake and ice cream”” L.T. said, slipping on the shell shield and then walking down to one of the cheaper pubs, a few coins jingling in his pocket. “Maybe I can buy a water and a day old piece of bread with this…” He said, and with a sigh and then a laugh, he continued on his way to the pub known as the Final Stop Pub. Walking in, he took a seat, and thought of another way of making money, maybe even getting a crew and a ship and leave this money-stealing town. “A good pirate crew, one that I know I could use to win a ship from a stupid group of pirates, and then Reverse Mountain, I’ll be riding you back to the Grand line.” L.T. said out loud, liking the sound of his plan, “Maybe a crew good enough to help me find more info on devil fruit users and find more uneaten devil fruit, the three I have won’t do me any good.” He leaned forward, took off his shield, and slammed his hand onto the table. “I’m looking for people to join my crew on my journey of the Grand Line, any takers? I promise, it will be worth every minute of it.” L.T. said, a big smile on his face.

A young woman sat perched on a stool in a small corner of the Final Stop Pub, eyes closed as she sang a song, her clear voice full of sorrow, accompanied only by the mournful notes mandolin she played. Finishing the song, she was rewarded with compliments, followed by calls for a more lively tune. Lifting her head and smiling, she plucked the strings, strumming out a lively tune, singing a song about the misadventures of a pirate who found to much treasure to safely carry home. Before she could finish the song, there was interruption. The man that had just slammed his hand loudly onto the table, spoke loudly.
"I'm looking for people to join my crew on my journey of the Grand Line, any takers? I promise, it will be worth every minute of it." he said, grinning.
An interesting man to be sure, the young woman thought to herself. After finishing the interrupted song, she offered an apology to those still listening, and walked to where the table where he sat. Sliding into the chair opposite him she smiled as she gently placed her instrument on her lap. "Mariella Gallo at your service, I believe we have some business to discuss, but not on an empty stomach." She said, snapping her fingers to draw the attention of one of the pub's staff. "Bread, the freshest you have, two bowls of todays stew, a nice bottle of red, and whatever this man wants to drink." She said clearly, gesturing for the man across the table to add to the order.

L.T. stared at Mariella in disbelief, but then leaned back and smiled. "Just give me a pint of rum, any kind." L.T. said. He turned back towards Mariella and he smiled and said, "Mariella Gallo... a brave woman you are, and from what I could hear, a wonderful musician." L.T. stopped speaking for a moment when the food arrived, took a bite of bread and a small sip of soup, and then looked back at Mariella. "I take it you want to join my crew... well, I have no objections... a beautyful woman with musical skills, just what every good pirate crew needs." L.T. said, taking a drink of rum. "Just one question, why do you want to join my crew?" He asked, setting his drink down and looking at Mariella.
Offline
Mariella had been expecting the question, she had asked herself similar questions before. "I search for immortality, though not the same kind as most people, I do not seek power or riches, but a muse. I wish to leave a song as my legacy, in this great age the exploits of pirates have captured the minds of many." She smiled and took a sip from her wine before continuing. "As for your crew specifically? I do not know you, nor do I know most of the pirates here, and famous pirates tend to have crew already, so as far as I am concerned any crew heading to the Grand Line will do. You are simply the first to walk into a room and ask, so I will join you, unless of course you wish to suggest another captain for me to follow?" Mariella said before taking a chunk of bread and dipping it in the stew.

Seeing this man smile as he announced that he was looking for a crew made Elena actually think. Maybe it was time to leave this place. It was his smile that made her think about it proberly longer than anyone elses drunken offers in this place, most just get the wrong idea and are soon back her begging for repairs which they can't afford or never come back at all except in the news as captured and excuted by the Marines. Walking over to his table she saw the singer sitting there talking, inviting yourself to a pirates table was never a good idea but when it involed payment it was worse so it couldn't be that bad. As she got to the table El pulled out a chair and sat.
"So with that smile you must of thought of something good? But what I want to know is, do you have a boat?"

Offline
L.T. dropped his head when he heard Mariella's comment. Famous pirates... he was one, but he had no crew... and what she said hit a sore spot. "No! No your fine to join my crew, I believe that you will be a good addition to my crew. Come! Sit back here with me and try to look a little imtimidating for when other people come over." L.T. motioned to the seat next to him and he then took another sip of soup.
L.T. looked over at El and with another smile he said, "I have a great plan, and I do have a boat... but my plan will get us a better boat." L.T. leaned forward and said, "I take it that you might want to join my crew, so if you want to hear my plan, then come over here and take a seat." L.T. stopped, and then looked at El and asked, "Two questions, what is your name, and do you have a skill?"

Sipping her wine and smiling slightly, Mariella moved to the offer seat, leaning back and once more placing her precious instrument on her lap. She watched the exchange between the captain and the new arrival intently.

El stared back at the captin. She moved the ring round on here finger so the stone was on the inside just incase this was a bad idea.
"My name is Elena Xioe but you might be able to call me El if I like you and I'm the one thats going to keep your boat on the top of the water and not trying to sail along the bottom. Now what is your name?"

Kaze was standing at the center of the groggy ring with the ball hat on is head. The narrator announced the beginning of the fight and immediately two of his opponents started to run towards him, the ball man stayed behind. Kaze looked around at his allies, weaklings he thought to himself can’t expect much help from them. Kaze pulled out his great battle fan “jishin no kaze”, the blades at the end were removed because they counted as weapons, And as his opponents came closer he opened with a quick shake of his hand and as he made a great swing with it he whispered “kaze no hishou ”(winds of filght). The giant fan created a gust of wind that tore some pieces of the ground and sent his opponents flying through the air untill they hit the wooden stands of the areana. Kaze then closed his fan and headed towards the exit leting his allies finish the match.
When he was near the exist he head the narrator say “And the Windmill Pirates score! The game is over! Collect your bets now!”. The captian then came in the areana to make his choise of nakama to take and as he passed near near Kaze he said “Grat job Kaze”, and Kaze replied “I’m quiting. The captian stoped in place turned around
“why?, you’v been with us for only two hours?” he asked
“you’r boering, and weak” replied Kaze,
an eerie silence was created betwin the two and after a minute or so, Kaze went to the exit.
“HAY” shouted the captain in rage, “where do you think your going?”
“a bar” he simply said and left the areana.

Hayato was still winning in the drinking contests and was winning many beri for it. when he heard the old man's offer he could not refuse. ''Oi old man!'' Shouted Hayato holding a bottle of rum in one hand walking over to LT. ''You need a crew? Well I'm in.'' he said with a grin.

Reselien slowly walked over to the table with the captain and musician. A small black folder seemed to be under his arm as he approached. He stopped just before their table and standing tall he says, "So who is paying for this? Surely you, sir, are?" He places the bill in front of L.T. and brushes the hair out of his eyes.
Addressing Mariella, Rez says, "Hey, your singing is quite beautiful. It was a wonder upon the ears to listen to. It was a lot better listening to you than the ruckaus ususally heard. It is my pleasure to serve you. Although I wish they would let me cook. That stew would have been made twice as delicious if I had been the one making it. You may not be able to tell the difference, but if you ever have one of my creations you will never hold food to the same standards again." He brushes the hair out of his eyes again and it almost immiediatly falls back.
He smiled and made a glance over at L.T. to see if he had any money for him yet and when he didn't he looked back at Mariella and said, "So what is the name of the lovely musician before me? Oh how rude of me, let me introduce myself. I am Reselien, but you can call me Rez. I heard you were joining this captain's crew eh? Speaking of which..."
He turns to face the captain brushing the hair out of his eyes, "So... gathering a crew huh? Well I might be interested, I might not be. What is it exactly that you are trying to accomplish as a pirate? What is your goal?" He begins tapping his finger on the bill as well waiting for payment.

"Rez stick it on my tab and as soon as I've got that tub that the lastest bunch brought in call a ship fixed then you'll get your money no probs. Or even better you can put it on their tabs" El looked up at Rez "Oh come off it surely you of all people are not seriously thinking about this?"
Turning back to the captin' El asks "So this boat of yours where you got it docked?"

Hayato took a seat at the table taking a drink from his bottle wondering what the old man would say. Soon he had run out of rum. He shouted to Rez ''Hey waiter I need some more rum!'' relaxing in his seat. ''Hey where is your ship?'' he asked LT.

L.T. listened to El, and with a laugh he said, "I like you, and a carpenter to boot, the name is Joseph White, but I'm known mostly as Lord Turtle, L.T. for short." L.T. looked at the new man with the rum in hand and with a growl he dropped his head. "Yes... a crew, I'm looking for a god crew, but don't call me old... I have aged more than the rest of you, but a good shave and you wouldn't even be able to tell." L.T. said, regaining his composure. "I'll let you join my crew just fine, but if you call me old man again.. I cant be responcable for what happens to you, even if it is my fault." He added leaning back against the bench.
"My goal, it might not be as interesting as some of the newer up and comings, but it is interesting all the same. My personal goal, my young friends, is to collect the data on every devil fruit known, and collect those which haven't been eaten yet. My goal with a crew, is to travel every route on the Grand Line, no matter how dangerious the paths may be, and to get all the treasure and valuable items we can." L.T. said, smiling as he thought of his plans. "I have it docked on the north side of the island, in the main dock, the second pier to the east, third docking station... it really is just a small boat, maybe room for three in the cabin, but I always lock the door to the cabin, cant let my treasures be stolen." He said, looking up to think.

"Now if you would excuse me I have some money to collect and a ship to look at before the night is out."
Saying this to L.T. El got up and went to leave the Final Stop, she stoped at the door and shouted to Rez
"Rez I'll be back later to settle up my tab I'm just going to get paid"
El left and started heading towards the North docks. Maybe this was a bad idea, I mean I've got a good thing going here, plenty of ships to fix, plenty or money to make and with all of those Davy fights no reason to get bored. But then when you see this every day its gets to you. Oh well far too late now to worry about it
El reached the North Docks and found the Red Star and the crew left behind to guard her. Shouting to one of them she asked "Oi which one of you lot has my payment?" This was always the worst part getting payment out of pirates. It was the captin who appeared over the side but whether that was a good thing or not is still to be decided.
"I've got it now if you want it come and get it" The captin shouted down. El thought about this, that line always ment trouble in one way or another, she checked her hammer and dagger were in place and turned here ring to face into her palm so the stone wouldn't show. Once ready she climbed up and onto the deck.

''Alright captain'' Hayato said with a smile. ''Here's some of the money I got from this town.'' said Hayato putting the beri on the table. ''that's a start at least'' said Hayato with a smile on his face ''But what are gonna do with the ship? You know that little ship will never get past reverse mountain. We both know we need a better boat.'' said Hayato.

L.T. watched as El left, and with a sigh he said, "I really hope she comes back... she was very good looking... and we need a good shipwright..." L.T. turned back to Hayato, and with a smile he said, "I know that we need a bigger, better boat, and I know where to find one." He stood up, and then took out a pair of blueprints. "I got these from a pirate who was once part of a group of pirates known as the Windmill pirates. They have two ships, one is a great flagship, and the other is a small, five room boat which they won recently from a small pirate crew, known as the Orange pirates."
L.T. pointed to the blueprints and said, "This ship is a new model, still in great shape, and it would be a perfect ship to sail the Gran Line. We could very well steal it, and then set sail, or we could try to win it in a Davy Back fight." L.T. sat back, and then looked at the others who where with him. "It has a well stocked kitchen with a decent stove, fridge, and sink, four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a shower, and from what I can tell, an area with a soft 3/4 circle bench with an umbrella on the deck... it seems perfect."
L.T. then sighed and said, "But this is just a plan, and I can only do it with help from my crew, so, do you want to follow my plans or do you want to try something different?"

The soft pitpat of her botted feet against the griound was all that could be heard of the woman who was quickly running down a dark alley, using it as a shortcut to the docks. Her earings dangled from her ears, swaying slightly, as her identity hiding cloak flowed behind her making her pull it together with one of her arms, so that it wouldn't open and reveal her. Her hood was where her other hand was occupied as she made sure it wouldnt fly off of her head, which would reveal more secrets, then her body would. Her hidden eyes widened beneath the ebony hood as she slowly came to a stop. Her mouth opened slightly at the size and grandeur of the ship docked. She smirked, and thought about the money she could make off of this thing, not sure whether she was panting from excittment or due to the fact that that she was running prior to her thoughts.
She resumed running, after her fantasies of money ended. She sped up as she got closer to the ship, and stopped in front of it looking up.
She didnt see a ladder, which meant either they haddnt come down yet, or had carelessly left it here. She reached inside a pocket in her cloak and pulled out what looked like a grappling hook atached to a gun. She aimed above her head, at the railing of the boat and pressed a button, the hook wrapping around the railing. She pulled the string, making sure it was secure, and pressed the same button, it lifting her to the railing. She pulled her self up, and put away the gadget.
She slowly and silently, walked to one of the doors, opening it and revealing a lightly furnished room. She yawned, stretching her arms above her head, and decided that before taking off, she would take a nap. She pounced on the bed, letting her hood fall, revealing her unusual features. She closed her unusual crimson eyes and crossed her arms behind her head. Her bushy fox tail, crept out from behind her cloak resting on the bed beside her. Her black hair was sprawled out to the side of her bed, revealing her naural two crimson highlights on her right side. Her left knee was raised, and her right leg crossed over it, reveling the bottom of a pair of black leather pants. She yawned once more, revealing her fangs, and lulled to sleep, soft snoring filling the room.
The soft snoring of the infamous spy, Kiara, the crimson fox.

Looking at Hayato, and taking another sip of wine before speaking. "I am happy to, but I will be little use if it turns into a fight. Just make sure you aren't relying on me in anything too physical. I put my fate in your hands, if you lose me to a crew that is not going to the Grand Line though, I will be most displeased." She said, the last part with a smile directed at L.T. Sliding gracefully from the chair she, bowed her head slightly to the captain. "Now if you will excuse me, I have to settle my bills and gather my things, it should take me no more than twenty minutes. When and where shall we meet captain?" She asked.

L.T. looked up at Mariella, smiled, and with a few seconds, he nodded and said, "We shall meet outside of my current "ship", if it could be called that, you remember where I said it was right, so then meet me there." L.T. stood up, hefted the shield onto his back and then started for the door. "Hey, cook who didn't cook, you remember where I said it was to, right, just incase you decided to jon us?" L.T. asked, not looking over his shoulder, moving out of the door while motioning for Hayato to follow. "Hayato, was it, you are skilled right, skilled enough to be good in a fight?" L.T. asked, taking out two coins, and then tossing them into the air. "If the crew decides to go the Davy Back route, then we shall play two games. The first one for the ship, and the second for their flag. The first game I'm not sure about, but the second, I'm thinking a duel between captains, it will be a good exersise if the captain is strong, and a chance for my crew to see how strong their new captain is."

''Yeah I'm strong.'' said Hayato. ''two more strong members and we could do a groggy ring.'' he said with thought.

Kaze finished his drink and out his glass on the table, he listened to the conversation of the turtel man with intrest. A man talking about the Grand line with such ease is allways interesting, and he seemes strong and he want's to start his crew, all of this made Kaze think, 'do I want to join this guy's crew?'. Then he heared the man talk about the ship. Kaze ordered another drink and listened to the rest of the conversation, 'so he want's the ship I won for the windmill's', Kaze thought to himself. 'I need to test the captian before I decide to go to the Grand line with him. '. Then the turtel man got up and left the bar after saying somthing about a Davy back fight. 'Mabye I was too rash in leaving those piarets, but I'm sure they'll take me back for another Davy fight'. Kaze down his drink, left money on the table, and left the bar. "Time to make some preperations" he said to himself.
Outside Kaze saw the turtle man walking off somewhere, he didn't care, he knew he'll meet him at the Davy fight.
Kaze went to the old Windmills pirates ship thinking the grup eill br there, he was right, the crew were all drinking on the drck, celebrating Kaze's victory in the recent fight as there own. Kaze jumped on the ship and the party voices went silent, he went straight to the captian and said "I want to rejoin your crew". Everyone in the crew droped there mouth to the deck in suprise. Seeing as his not going to get a reply Kaze sighen and continued
"Your going to have a fight with a strong opponent"
"why do you care now?" asked the captian
"his interesting"
"so? why do you want to come back to our crew"
"I want ot test him"
"how do you even know his going to challenge us?"
"I heared him"
"so your going to join just fo this fight?"
"yes"
"ok i'll agree to it"
"good" After saying this Kaze stopped to think, 'I need to be sure I'll fight the turtle guy, even if the others lose there fight'
"I need to insure I'll fight with him" he said
"so?" asked the captian
"He want's to have a captian duel, so I need to be the captian for this battle" 'this way he won't choose me because it's agiast pirates morals' Kaze thought
"No way am I agreeing to that, I'm the captian and founder of the Windmill pi~eeeeeee" The captian shirked as Kaze put his Fan's blade's on both sides of his neck like a pair of scissors.
"it's just for the fight, and it doesn't look you have have much choice"said Kaze with an evil grin on his face.
"ok ok ok" said the captian in a high pitched voice. "good" said Kaze and put his fan back on his back and walked inside the ship. he searched inside untill he found the captian's room, he went inside and lied on the bed
"I can realx abit now" he said to himself.

In reply to LT, Rez merely sighed and said, "I like the stocked kitchen thing, but I'll think about it, I'm not just going to join any crew. I've already gone through a hundred captains or so all claiming that they are the greatest or something. Just wait." He brushed his hair out of his eyes.
Rez shook his head a little as the strange group parted for each own's reasons. "Jeeze could they be any weirder? We'll just have to see if they are worth my time." He cleaned off the table and quickly finished up his current tables.
"Boss I'm outta here for a bit." And left the pub and began looking for the ship LT spoke of. He took his time and contemplated the prospect of joining the turtle man.
'Well, he is different, that's for sure. To go about in search for more cursed fruit and to catalog them, and probably sell too. Is it worth it? Is it something that I would want to go out on the grand line to risk my life for? Who knows... I'll wait to see how these guys handle getting that other ship, though. Hmmm... I wonder if cursed fruit taste good when cooked...'

-Windmill Pirate's FlagShip-
"Damn boy, thinking he can just order us around... after this Davy Back Fight, I think that fan wielding boy will have an accedent, one that will cost him his life." The Captain said, a small windmill on his back rotating slowly, the shine of metal could be seen on the edges.
-Lord Turtle's "ship"-
"I suppose if the people are strong enough, we could do a Groggy Ring challenge first." L.T. said, walking onto the boat. He moved to the cabin's door, and with a strong push, the door slid back, the large stone that was blocking the door could now be seen. Inside the room was a desk, a hammock, ten treasure chests, and a small treasure box, resting on the desk.
"This is where I have been staying, the lastest tub in my trip. Those chests are filled with rare items from my first trip on the Grand Line, and I only made it half way." L.T. said, getting into the hammock, his shell on the ground a few feet away. "I have a few dials, a few rare jewels, a master grade sword or two, and in the treasure box I have three devil fruit. I would estemate that this total, would be worth 500,000,000 berries, but some things are worth more if you keep them for when you need to use them."
L.T. looked over at Hayato and said, "You seem confedent of your strength, why is that?"
