I couldn't find any other threads about the new dub, but here are the new voices of One Piece:

Luffy: Colleen Clinkenbeard
Nami: Luci Christian
Zorro: Chris Sabat
Usopp: Sonny Strait
Sanji: Eric Vale
Chopper: Brina Palencia
Robin: Stephanie Young

I really like the choice of Luci Christian as Nami. I just loved her as Ms. Yukari from Azumanga Daioh and I think she has enough talent to make this role work. Stephanie Young though seems kind of new to the game since her name didn't reveal that many roles so I'm not as familiar with her work as I am with everyone else.

Hmm, I wonder what it'll be like hearing Trunk's voice coming out of Sanji now.

Well you knew chris sabat would be in there somewhere, but zoro seems like the only choice for his type of voice.

It says that Usopps VA also did Giru and krillen fom DBZ/GT, is this the funimation dub or the ocean dub

The choices are interesting but honestly, I would have preferred Justin Cook as Sanji and Spike Spencer as Usopp.

Is Luffys VA a good voice or one who can sound like Luffy, because I don't mind them sounding differently as long as they can effectivley pull off each characters personality well while making it sound natural. (asking too much?)

I don't think it's asking too much. I would want to hear the characters sound right, I don't think I've heard any of these people's voices before though. I hope they do a good job, I mean I have to admit the dub voices for Naruto sounded like they really went with the characters. (At least I think so)

I think it's more than just sounding right. The voice actors shouldn't try to copy the way another actor handled the role previously. Would Batman Begins been so good had Christian Bale tried to recall the work of George Clooney, Val Kilmer, or even Micheal Keaton? I think it's more important that the actors make it so that their voice sound like they should belong to their character, just like the japanese actors had before them.

Chris Sabat does alot of the "serious bad ass" characters and tends to over do it.
He'll make certain voices a bit TOO raspy (like with poor Vegeta)

Yea! I remeber Sabat now! Wasn't he also Armstrong's voice from FMA? *thinks of Zoro with those voices* ...Weird... I hope he does a good job.

He might sound more Piccoloish than Vegeta with this one.

I wonder who will do the other background and secondry characters, I hope that they don't do a 4kids and basically have all the main cast do all the other voices as well.

i dont think thats a bad idea as long as they can pull it off. hell the entire town of springfield in the simpsons is done by like 6-7 ppl.

I think Sabat might end up doing something like along the lines of Yamcha maybe, you know not to raspy. Im really curious about the girl doing Luffy's voice.

I think she did Racheal from Case Closed. I'm not sure...there was someone named Colleen that did her voice.

No one here has awknowledged everything else that has been announced ?

1) FUNimation can't start their uncut DVD release with the first two seasons because VIZ currently hold the distribution rights.
2) ALL of the ORIGINAL Names are being kept,including Zoro on the uncut DVD release (sub AND dub),however some of the names will remain changed on the broadcast.
3) FUNimation will be dubbing the openings.
4) FUNimation will release the 8th movie soon next year.

Well most of the cast seems to be pretty good imo, but does anyone know if luffys VA is anygood? and I really did hope that funimation would have kept the first guy that did zoros voice, thats probably the ONLY thing that 4kids did well in one piece. Also does anyone know if funimation is going to make sanjis VA do a really crappy newyork accent?

WTF the first 7 movies are so much better than the 8th.

I mean, 4 5 and 6 are awesome. But I guess whatever. At least we'll see what they'll do for re-dubbing the Arabasta arc, and they might be able to do it better.

On the subject of voice actors, I recently was watching Desert Punk. Needless to say hearing Sanji is going to be a little odd. I hope he tries to imitate Sanji's style. Never heard of the other actors though, and I'm surprised they didn't end up giving Justin Cook the role of Luffy, but I'm kinda glad they didn't. He's bound to show up though.

no they already said no funny/stupid accents unless the guy has an eyepatch an a pegleg lol

No, they said they're not going to put any accents in it (unless it would actually go well with the character).

I want to know who's gonna do Shanks voice. To tell you the truth, I think that Cockney/Irish accent went pretty well with him.

I thought 4kids Shanks fit pretty well too.

Anyway, since everyone is worried about Luffy's new voice but still hasn't bothered to check up on the work she's done, then I'll tell you that she is great. I think her best and most defining role would be Ms. Yukari from Azumanga Daioh. Go check up on AzuDai dubs at YouTube or if you have the dvd's try turning on that english dub option for a change.

I think the reason they are showing Movie 8 is because they feel that 4Kids did such a horrible job with the whole thing and when I think about it I know alot of people who stopped watching because of how 4Kids handled this whole arc. Showing this could bring back more fans. That's my opinion anyway.

I like the choice of Luci Christian as Nami. Personally, I would've liked to have Steven Jay Blum as Sanji. I say this because of the voice he did as Jamie on Megas. It'll be interesting to hear the new cast.

Yea I really did think that accent actually did suit him but I wont really mind as long as his VA is good. Also I did notice something in the naruto dub where they showed Asuma smoking but if toonami can show that at around 8 how come funimation has to edit sanjis cigarettes as lolipops, I mean I know that him smoking might make kids be like "wow hes cool I want to smoke to!!!" or something like that but it just seems like those things that makes sanji cool, like whenever he beats an opponent he lights up a cigarette.
