Re: ~Angels Help~

“Well, here’s the next door….” Davy looked over his shoulder at Erik, who nodded in response. The two had been walking for quite some time since being separated from Kat and Graphite. Both were more than a little concerned for their companions. “That makes this….what door?”

“Door number eleven.”

“Door number eleven….” repeated Davy to himself. After falling through the first trapdoor in pursuit of their resident pencil-warrior and magician, Erik and Davy had gradually made their way nearer and nearer the surface, finding the majority of the riddles to be quite simple; most bordering on childish. Above their heads was a cracked stone roof, the sunshine flooding in, large roots and vines spilling over just above their heads. Answering the next riddle correctly would place them back at ground-level.

“Jewel of the Sky, Pearl of the Sea.” Davy’s attention returned to their immediate situation: solving the next riddle. Erik had already made his way to the set of twin doors and read the riddle aloud.

“So what are our choices?” The young swordsman asked without approaching.

“ ‘The moon’ or ‘the sun’.” Turning around, Erik smirked at Davy who now bore a large grin upon his face.

“Did I mention how I used to spend quite a bit of time drinking sake on the beach, watching the moon in the night sky?” He was practically laughing now.

“I believe you did mention some thing of the sort.” Erik chuckled in response and turned back to the twin doors, Davy now at his side. “Green it is.”

“Again?” asked Davy, incredulous.

“Again.” nodded Erik, matter of fact.

“Erik…” the younger man paused in thought, “do you find this odd in the least? I mean, the riddles are fairly easy as they are, but every correct door has been green so far. It’s….”

“Ridiculous, I know.” Erik interrupted. “Though it might just be a ploy to cause those who visit the island to let their guard down….”

“Yeah, that thought did cross my mind. Even when I know the answer, that voice in the back of my head worries that this next door is the door with the trap….” Davy frowned for a moment than shrugged. “But, we’ll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.” Smiling cheerfully, Erik nodded in response.

“Shall you do the honors?”

“Of course.” Davy pressed the green button labeled ‘The Moon’. The door slowly slid open in response, revealing a short set of stairs, bright sunlight, blue sky, and closely scattered trees of some unfamiliar species.

Re: ~Angels Help~

Davy nodded towards Erik as they both entered the bright moonlight of what seemed to be the ground level of the island. Huge metal walls surrounded the enclosure but left several smaller openings which could be walked through; it was a labyrinth, and judging by the size of the walls, a fairly large one.
The walls seemed to be embedded with strange symbols and script unlike anything Erik had seen, and as much as he wanted to take a look he knew it would only lead to Davy telling him they needed to press on to find Kat and Graphite. The sudden sound of footsteps and a merry laugh echoing in the near distance was enough to make both Erik and Davy jump up and get them selves ready for anything that might come. The sound of footsteps had become louder by the time Erik and Davy reached the large stone behind them where they could easily hide and observe, rather than meeting the possible enemies head-on.

”Oi, Wedgie, this islan’ wasn’t my idea ya know, but ye should enjoy the scenery rather than grumpin’ over how we ended up lost here!”

The voice was still too weak to judge where it came from or what kind of person had spoken, and the conversation continued:

“We’re losing precious time, and we haven’t met a single person, enemy or friend, at this bloody labyrinth. We need to find that item as swiftly as possible…”

The man coughed and seemed to have admitted that he had just told the other man too much.

“What exactly is our mate, Riley, lookin’ for then?”

A quick, silent response brought a silence over the party as their footsteps became even louder and two shades appeared from nearby:

“You will find out, Pharos, you will find out eventually.”

Davy looked puzzled as he without warning stood up and stared eyes wide towards the two persons at the far left corner of the yard. Erik tried to hold him down but it was already too late, Davy had already taken a few steps too many and the persons standing in front of him were alarmed.

”Pharos? There can’t be too many out there with a name like that…” Davy exclaimed towards the men, and noticed how one of them, with a long brown coat and no hair on his head, was gaping towards Davy unsure whether to yell or grin. Though Erik couldn’t see that far, he was certain the man was even more surprised than Davy.

“Davy…? What are ye doin’ in a pla, -“

Before he could speak however, Davy sprinted forward and shook the man’s hand grinning widely, about to break out in laughter. “’Oi, Erik, come here, I know this guy!”
‘He knows someone in a place like this…?’ Erik was rather confused and tried to figure out what the whole thing was a about while thinking back at the time when Davy had told them about his life. He slightly remembered the name “Pharos” when he noticed the look on Pharos’ face; he looked as if he had just seen a ghost from the past, and didn’t seem to share Davy’s happiness. Erik had to dismiss the subject as he saw the man behind Pharos raise a gun towards Davy.
He took a run, loading one of his guns in the progress and when reaching a spot where he knew he wouldn’t miss, he spoke firmly:

“I suggest you throw away that gun…right now.”

Davy turned around seeing the small gun pointing towards his head and turned his head towards Pharos, smiling:

“You haven’t introduced us, who’s your companion?”

Before Pharos could react, Wedgie put the gun back into the pocket of his black coat, and spoke:

”I was just making sure that we weren’t being fooled here, calm down. Though I would love to fight you, marksman, it seems our friends know each other…pity.”

By some reason, the last part of his speech sounded more like truth than sarcasm or irony, a slightly unpleasant guy, Erik thought.
The four men sat down and started introducing themselves, while Davy eagerly tried to find out what Pharos had been doing since last time. Through the whole conversation, Erik found it very suspicious that it seemed like Pharos was holding back information or rather trying to avoid certain parts of it, but it seemed as if Pharos and Wedgie were on some kind of mission for their pirate crew, and were also headed for the centre of the island.

“We should go together! We’re heading the same way anyway, aren’t we mate?” Davy told to Pharos, who nodded slightly and said: “Yeah…okay Davy, at leas’ for a while.”
Pharos beckoned Wedgie over and they moved a bit further away, saying they would get the rest of their bags.

When Pharos was sure they wouldn’t be overheard, he whispered:

”Ya know…that’s the guy Meredith tricked for the Eternal Poses I knew he had…that ol’ friend of mine.”

Wedgie laughed feverishly and whispered in reply: “Perfect, just perfect…I might be able to fight that marksman after all then...”

Re: ~Angels Help~

As the doors slammed closed behind them, Gillian and Mirage each took in a breath of awe at the room they now stood in. It was like a page out of a storybook, with swaying palm trees, a beach next to a small lake, and other such niceties common to any paradise. Johnny and Brock, who were standing several feet away, were likewise awestruck. A large sign was standing near a set of doors on the opposite side of the “Room”. It read “Rest area 1”, and numerous scorches, cuts, nicks, scrapes, and dents on it. Gillian snapped himself out of his awe when he saw two figures lounging beside the lake on deck chairs. Apparently, Johnny and Brock had already shrugged off their feelings of awe, as they were already headed toward the two on the deck chairs.

One of the two figures stood up. He was wearing a long red coat, blue pants, and was swaying, as if intoxicated. Johnny and Brock’s words were still hearable, even from Mirage and Gillian’s position.

“Hey! What are you doing? We just wanted to get the answer to the next door! Hones-“ But before Johnny could even finish his sentence, the swaying figure removed a flute from his coat, and began to play. It was a haunting melody, and it made Gillian think of Betrayals, lost friendships, and suffering. He looked over to his side, where mirage was... and saw Him. The man that ruined his life, Hamilton. He was standing right in front of him, right in punching distance, right where.... Mirage just was...  Gillian Put two and two together. Somehow, the music was getting to him, making him see things. As soon as he had come to this realization, Hamilton’s Image wavered, and then reformed into Mirage, who was shaking her head, as if just waking from a bad dream. They stared at each other for a moment, and then turned back to where the swaying man had been playing his flute. In front of him were Johnny and Brock, wresting around in the dirt, beating each other senseless.

The other figure got out of his deck chair, and stepping carefully over the two combatants, approached Mirage and Gillian. As he neared, Gillian noticed the man was dressed in a black, tattered, out of style marine officer’s coat, black trousers, and a pair of sunglasses. With his black hair, the only thing that offset the man’s dark appearance was his pale skin. At the sight of the man’s dark marine coat, Gillian stood up straighter, and gulped. “Dark justice...? This is not a man to be trifled with.” Thought Gillian to himself. He exhaled, than saluted. The man stopped in front of him, stared quizzically, and then finally broke out laughing. He finished, wiped a tear from his eye, and then stuck out a hand. Gillian shook it reluctantly. “Sir, May I ask exactly what’s so humorous?” he inquired. The man shook his head slowly and then finally replied: “It’s been so long since I’ve been referred to as sir, I can’t remember the last time. I can tell from your coat and salute you’re a marine officer, can you give me your name and rank?” Gillian nodded. “I’m Gillian Graham; Marine Captain of north blue’s 114th Division.” The man narrowed his eyes. “The 114th? Isn’t that the division where the marines put the worst of the worst?” Gillian sighed. “Yes sir, it is. But, in its defense, it isn’t as bad it’s made out to be... well, maybe it is, but the point is, a marine has to have some pride in his base, however fleeting it may be.” The man with the flute had sauntered over, and at this, began to laugh hysterically. He finally stopped, and then, giving Gillian an out of focus stare, said: “That was *Hic* kind of funny.” The man in the marine coat rolled his eyes and then replied. “Yes Lewis, that was very humorous. I’d suggest hauling those two in front of “The Door” and dealing with them.” Lewis walked (albeit not very straight) over to where Johnny and Brock were lying, both of them Unconscious. He pulled them over to one of the doors, and left them in front of it. he then went back to the lake, and picked up a palm sized stone, and threw it deftly at the button by the door. With the solid “thunk” of stone-on-Button, a trapdoor opened underneath the two, and dumped them deep within the bowels of the island. Wiping his hands and grinning, “Lewis” sat back down on his deck chair, and began snoring. “So,” said Gillian, rather gravely, “is that what you do with everyone who fails to pass your little test”? The man chuckled. “You have us pegged. Even though we are like a miniature test, we aren’t actually part of the island. You see, we’re waiting to meet back up with our nakama. Myself and Lewis here, made it to this checkpoint without missing a single riddle, thanks to his vast mental capabilities. Or amazing luck, whichever of the two. Our nakama weren’t so lucky. We split into groups, and the others missed riddles at one point or another. So, we decided to halt the progress of other teams without any fatalities with Lewis’ flute work. You’re the first team to snap out of it without attacking each other. Your must be nakama to not be affected by the flute’s abilities. Seeing as there’s only two of you, your crew probably split into groups as well. Am I right”?

Gillian whistled at the man’s deductions. “You’re absolutely right. Several members of my crew are MIA as it were. I certainly hope we’re the first of my crew to make it here, after the welcoming you gave us. By the way, I never caught your name, Sir.” The man in the Marine coat gave a noncommittal shrug, and then answered. “I’m Riley Tanza, an *Ex* Marine Captain, so you can stop calling me sir. Care for a sit-down? We have extra Deck chairs.”

Re: ~Angels Help~

"I think we're also pirates" said Graphit "Kat d'you know the name of our crew?"
No Reply.
"Kat I asked you a-" He said turning around just in time to witness Kat reaching for yet another red button with an idiotic grin plastered on her face. "KAAAAAT!!" Yelled Graphit in horror as he ran over to her and tackled her to the ground.
"Aaah! What's your problem!?" Squeaked Kat as Graphit pinned her down with ease then sat on her to keep her from moving.
"My problem!! You haven't even read the- OWW!!" Said Graphit in pain as Kat grabbed a twig from ground and shoved it up one of his nostrils.

"Cheh, they're just stupid noisy little brats after all." Said Meredith to Zachary in a low voice nearby.
"So what do you want to do with them?" Asked Zachary with a slight smile watching Graphit remove the twig from his nose then give Kat a good bump on the head.
"Use them like the retarded guinea pigs they are of course." Whispered Meredith as a dark smile creeped onto her face. Zachary laughed softly then watched her walk over to the two strangers and gracefully change her personality from that of Meredith Slacy of the Emerald Pirate crew to that of a sweet preschool teacher.
"Those kids don't stand a chance." He said to himself.

"Hey now you two, theres no need to fight." Said Meredith working her charm. "Since were all out here anyway we might as well work together."
"Together?" Asked Graphit eyeing the woman before him.
"Thanks but no thanks, we're doing just fine alone ancient crab." barked Kat.
"A-ancient crab..." Repeated Meredith feeling herself twitch slightly but maintained her smile and continued. "You know im not much older than you, we could even be sisters."
"Sisters? Oh I'm really sorry, I didnt realise i was being rude." Muttered Kat bowing her head apologeticly. "But the answers still no old crab."
"O-old..." Said Meredith twitching more obviously this time.
"Wait... what did you mean by working together?" Asked Graphit.
"Well we've been on this island for some time now so we have a lot of experience with these riddles. However there are still many dangers on this island as well and since we lost the rest of our crew i fear that we just wont be strong enough to defeat any dangers that come our way." Said Meredith bending down to be face to face with Graphit who was still sitting on Kat, and to make sure he had a full view of what her three unbuttoned shirt buttons revealed. "We need someone as strong and powerful as you to protect us and in exchange we'll help you with the riddles." She whispered in his ear than winked at him.
"So what do you say?" Grinned Zachary.

Re: ~Angels Help~

"So, what do you say?" asked Merdith, moving even closer to Graphit, almost whispering the words in his ear and placing a hand on his knee. Graphit quickly recoiled in panic and stood up to get farther away from her, still keeping one foot on Kat. "You know what, I'll accept" he said, scratching the back of his head nervously.

"Good" said Meredith and got up slowly, still in her sexy act "so let's get going then"

"WAIT" yelled Kat beneath Graphit's foot, "are you really going to trust these old crab and red weirdo?"

"R-Red weirdo?!" asked Zachary in anger "just so you'll know this is the suit of the Daniels shipwright family! And it carry's my family's name and pride!"

"It's still weird" said Kat, causing Zachary to advance towards her in anger Meredith to stop and calm him down. Graphit managed to use this little spare time to shoot an annoyed glare at Kat as if she's ruining something. "Anyway" said Graphit to Kat removing his foot from her back and letting her get up, "it'll be best to use their help in solving the island riddles now cause we need get to our crew quickly. Davy and Erik might still be looking for us…"
"Davy?" asked Zachary but was silenced by a swift glare made by Meredith. "Well, ok then I guess" said Kat not noticing Zachary's and Meredith recent actions, then she turned her head towards Meredith and pointed at her, "But I still don't trust you old crab" she said. Meredith sighed as part of her act part was clearly twitching in anger under it. "well then, let's start with the riddles" she said". Graphit went to the doors and read the riddle that was inscribed on it "Without me loyalty has no value, and after me it has no meaning." Graphit now turned around towards the Meredith and Zachary, he was trammeling and grinning at them "The buttons say self sacrifice and betrayal". "Can you answer it?".
"it's Betrayal isn't it" said Kat, her expression has now turned serious, as she seemed to understand who the people in-front of her were.

"Damn, seems like they know" said Meredith but the only response she got was a loud bang sound as Graphit suddenly appeared near her, his foot lunged forward towards Zachary's face but blocked by the big man's two enormous sledge hammers. "You seem to be the main fighting force here" said Graphit pushing Zachary away with his feet. They were now standing face to face separated by only several feet, "I've been training allot recently, I hope you'll give me a good fight" said Graphit his body trembling with feelings of excitement and rage. "I'll try to make thing interesting for you" said Zachary. And they both charged.

Re: ~Angels Help~

Davy and Pharos walked beside each other, the younger man enthusiastically relating how he had finally come to join a real pirate crew: albeit a rather odd pirate crew. The older man listened closely, nodding and exclaiming where appropriate, yet his mind seemed elsewhere.
Erik followed about ten feet behind the others, half listening to Davy’s recounting of their meeting and subsequent adventures, but his attention really was focused on Pharos. He’s hiding something from Davy, I’m sure of it. We have been walking together for the past hour and not once has he mentioned anything specific about the intervening years. I’m the stranger, but he seems more uncomfortable talking with Davy…. A branch snapped, Erik’s eyes narrowed, his complete attention turning toward the figure at his right side. Dressed in a long, black coat, Wedgie smiled at Erik before turning his attention back toward Davy and Pharos’ conversation.
I don’t like the way that he’s been looking at Davy and I…. And that smile…. Erik shivered inside. Watching Wedgie was, to Erik, like watching some twisted reflection of himself. Both men were the doctor of their respective ships, both men had a similar sense of fashion, both were well learned in fields outside of medicine, and both possessed an unusually keen intellect. The similarities frightened Erik, causing him to wonder what else they might have in common.
Davy was now asking something of Pharos. Though Erik could not hear the entire question, he heard enough to gather that Davy was again asking Pharos about the time since they had last seen each other. Pharos gave a vague response before asking his old friend for further details regarding one of Davy’s earlier stories. The younger man frowned slightly, before forcing himself to smile and answer Pharos.
There’s definitely something going on here. Pharos is hiding something and I think Davy realizes it, too. Frowning, Erik let his hand brush casually against the handle of one of his pistols.
“So, you’re the doctor of your crew, hmmm?” Wedgie began moving closer to Erik, but a warning glance caused him to stop his progress several feet away. He smirked and chuckled to himself. “And here I thought that you were a sniper or a marksman from the way you held that gun earlier. Oh well, I suppose it’s not the first time I’ve been mistaken.” He glanced over at Erik to see the other man’s reaction, but Erik simply returned his gaze, calm and level. Sighing as if in disappointment, Wedgie again focused his attention back on Davy and Pharos, his left hand slipping inside of his coat as if checking something.
Again with the coat…. What is he hiding in there? It’s definitely not a gun…. Letting his hand drift down to his pistol belt, Erik felt a little relieved to feel the familiar feel of the wood and ivory handles against his fingers. Pharos bellowed with laughter and Erik again found his attention divided between the two men.
“The sounds grand, Davy!” The older man clapped the younger on the shoulder and laughed again.
“It’s been unbelievable, Pharos…. But what about you and your crew? You must have had quite the many adventures since last time we saw each other!”
“Davy, my boy, my adventures are nothing compared to yours.” Pharos clapped Davy on the shoulder again, evoking a frown from the younger man. “I am curious about….”
“Why don’t you answer his question?” It was less of a question than a demand. Davy and Pharos turned around to look at the young doctor. Davy looked at Erik with a mix of apprehension and gratitude.
“What are ye….”
“Ever since we’ve begun walking with each other, you’ve avoided answering any of Davy’s questions and you’ve been trying to turn the conversation away from whatever you’ve been doing these last few years.” Pharos frowned deeply as Erik finished speaking. Davy simply stood still, waiting for an answer from someone whom up until just a little while ago he had thought was a friend.
“Now you listen to me,” Pharos stepped toward the young doctor, his brow furrowed and eyes angry.
“Oh, just tell them the truth, Pharos!” Wedgie threw his hands in the air, walked over to a nearby stone and sat down. “The doctor’s been on to you since the beginning and I think even your old friend there realizes that you’ve been giving him the run-around. Besides, once he hears the truth, things will start to get interesting.” That last statement sent a chill of fear racing down Erik’s spine.
“Pharos, what is he talking about?” Davy frowned deeply, but any touch of sentiment or possible disappointment had left his eyes. They were hard and serious; steeled for whatever his old friend had to say. Pharos sighed and sat in the middle of the path. He gazed at the ground for a full minute before lifting his eyes to meet Davy’s, a mixture of regret and resolve.

Re: ~Angels Help~

"Gaaaaaah" - Valencius screamed in pain as Catherine's bullet teared through his left shoulder, cutting flesh and shattering bones. He fell to his knees, burying them deep in the soft, hot sand. His left arm hanged by his side, rendered useless by  overwhelming waves of pain, that almost made Cotez black out. With a heroic effort, he grabbed his rifle harder. The dazed marksman slowly looked over his shoulder, and saw Irokh fighting DD. The two warriors were engulfed in a wild struggle, as their blades clashed in a test of might. Despite his ferocious power and determination, Irokh was still overpowered by his enemy. DD pushed even harder using the mass of his whole body. Irokh's sword-wielding arm was thrown high into the air, and Dan made a qiuck follow-up attack to the body. Valencius's crewmate somehow managed to guard himself with his shield, but to his horror, the swift attack was but a feint. DD's true target was his now unguarded head. He turned his weapon and hit Irokh with the blunt side of his weapon square in the face. - "G.D. SLAM!" - DD shouted the name of his attack, as Irokh was sent flying and hit the sand with a loud thump.

Valencius watched the fight half-consciously. Suddenly, a terrifying thought slapped him in the face. Catherine disappeared again! He qiuckly stood up, helping himself with his rifle. He looked around, but there was nowhere to hide. - "How? - the sharpshooter asked himself - "How is this possible?"

His silent questions were brutally disrupted by the sound of heavy steps behind him. He turned around just in time to see a huge polearm flying towards him. He ducked just in time to avoid being decapitated. Valencius rolled over, twiching in pain as his injured arm touched the ground. But the danger behind him was much more urgent. He stood up and started running, as far as possible from the Emerald Crewman. But his escape was cut short by the small hook on the back side of the Guan Dao's blade wrapping around his ankle. - "Oh shit..."

- "G.D. AIRLINES!" - shouted DD with clear satisfaction, as he pulled his weapon upwards. The sharpshooter was sent flying, as the attack name implied. But it wasn't a pleasure cruise, and after a series of barrels, the Cotez plane crashed in the sand. Which turned out to be quite hard. And bony.

- "Bony?" - Valencius questioned his sense of touch. He decided to investigate the matter further. He put his hand on the sand. To his relief, he grabbed something soft. And round. And somewhat similiar to something he liked a lot. Well, not more than gambling, but still...

He also felt some cloth. Valencius grabbed it, and pulled it aside. From what he saw, the thing he fell on was a musket. Aimed straight at his face. With a slight suggestion of a really deep blush.

Re: ~Angels Help~

The mixture of regret and resolve which reflected through Pharos’ eyes petrified Davy. Never had he seen such an expression on the face of his old friend, who rather than be sad and angry, always tried to see the positive in everything and everyone. He couldn’t possibly imagine such evil, that even Pharos would feel regret; nor was he sure if he wanted to hear what Pharos had to say.
Though Davy had not considered Pharos’ lack of explaining him what he had been doing since his last visit to Davy’s island to be anything else than him being tired or wanting to hear how Davy had been doing, Erik had a good point, and now the true story would be revealed. Why did it feel like he did not want to hear it?

”Davy…ye see…” before Pharos could continue, Wedgie started laughing enthusiastically and turned to Erik:

“Let’s leave these two friends alone, shall we?”

Davy noticed that Erik opened his mouth in protest for a split-second, suddenly grasped for air with a confused facial expression, and nodded calmly towards a grinning Wedgie. Although Wedgie was holding a sharp knife towards Erik’s back, Davy kept his stare towards Pharos and did not notice how Erik was lead further away from them.
Finally, when Pharos continued, Erik and Wedgie were out of sight:

“Ye know…aroun’ the time I disappeared from the Island…I think ye remember somethin’ else happenin’.”

Davy looked confused and clueless, unable to remember any important during the same time as Pharos disappeared. To be honest, he had not thought too much about it when Pharos again disappeared into the great Sea with his crew; another issue had been on his mind at that point of his life, one which he still had not forgotten. ‘Pharos disappeared around the same time as Mere…’ shock and dread filled Davy’s eyes as he understood everything. Dismay swiftly turned into burning rage as Pharos continued:

“Davy…yer friendship is mor’ than I could’ve ever asked fer….and I tried to stop it. Please forgive me…or at leas’ understan’ that I had no choice back then.”

Flashing memories passed through Davy’s mind; all the times he had sat upon the coasts of the Island, waiting for Pharos to arrive to bring some relief to the solitude he could not fight away. All those happy days when he thought he had found a real friend, someone to trust and someone who one day might take him along to the seas.
Davy did not even try to prevent the tears which filled his eyes and started to fall gently towards his cheek; the tears of regret were unavoidable.
‘Again…’
Davy could not hear the words of apology which Pharos spoke; rage was filling his mind, ready to break out into an inferno at any time.

Silent Revenge danced in the air, reaching out towards Pharos, who quickly reacted and put both of his swords against the Grosses Messer. Though Pharos was doing his best to keep Davy’s sword from coming closer, his strength alone could not stop the rage and regret which gave Davy an almost unholy power.
Pharos rolled towards the left, dodging Davy’s swing by mere inches, and started to evade Davy’s challenge. Pharos whispering: “Friends should never hav’ to fight each other…” almost echoed in Davy’s ears, but it was too late.

“Then I will destroy what is left of our friendship!”

At the same time, Wedgie pushed Erik forward, releasing him from the reach of his dagger and laughed. Wedgie’s eyes were like those of a beast, readying an attack towards its prey, and his face happy, excited and energized, all at the same time.

“That yell beckons the beginning of our fight. I want to enjoy this, so please do your best…”

Re: ~Angels Help~

One kick was enough to send Kat flying straight at the nearest tree. It took her a lot of effort not pass out from extreme pain as she coughed up blood and struggled for air.
"My my, are you ok? Seems like you've broken a rib or two." Frowned Meredith in a concerned motherly tone. She walked over to Kat and gently pulled her face upwards so they were making eye contact. Kat could see the desire to kill in the woman's silver eyes and began to tremble.
"KAT!! Kat are you ok?!" She could hear Graphits distant voice calling out for her but couldn't even manage to call back to him.
"You don't have time to worry about others." Came Zachary's voice followed by a lowed 'clank' sound.
"Ah? Looks like the boys are having so much fun. I'm so jealous! Oh I know, Why don't we play a game too huh?" Said Meredith in a sweet voice before kicking Kat in the face and watching her fall to the ground. "I'll count to 10 while you go hide somewhere in this miserable forest. And if I find you..." She giggled in an excited tone. "...Well you get the idea."
Kat look up with fear in her eyes as if to say 'Are you f-ing serious?", but all she got was a wink in response.
"Oooonnnneee!!!" Began Meredith counting slowly. 'Shit, Shit, Shit!' thought Kat struggling to get to her feet.
"Tttwwwwoooo!!!" Continued Meredith. 'I dont want to die! Shit! I'm falling into her trap, she wants me to run. She wants me to suffer. Thought Kat now running as fast as she could.
"Tttthhhrrreeee!!!" Meredith was having so much fun she was almost singing now. 'Dammit that old hag! She's enjoying this! Dammit I don't want to die! but...'
"Ffffooouu- AAH!" Yelled Meredith as Kat suddenly stopped running, grabbed a handful of dirt and threw it at her face so that most of it went straight in Meredith's mouth in the middle of her count. I don't want to die, but if I'm going to die whether I run or not, might as well get that cow back for the kick while I can...'
"HAHahaha! Well looks like your in more of hurry to die than I thought you were Katty. I guess it game over then. " Although Meredith was now twitching ferociously her dirt covered face remained friendly as spat out the dirt in her mouth.
"Actually I think the games just begun ya fat tomato." Smirked Kat still trembling in fear.
"What are you smiling abouth?" Asked Meredith clenching her fists in response to being called a tomato but managing to keep her voice calm. Then that's when she saw it. The hand Kat used to throw the dirt was glowing with silver magic. "Wha-? Whaths thath?" Said Meredith but she knew the answer already. Her face and the inside of her mouth were swollen like balloons and were as red as lobsters.
"YOU LITHLE!!" Barked Meredith, but stopped herself from completely exploding. Kat couldn't tell whether or not Meredith was smiling or not beneath her plump face but she didn't care anymore. She was already running from the insane woman again screaming 'eek!'
"I wasn'th going tho use these ath firsth, buth you have no idea how much I wanth tho kill you righth now." Said Meredith back in her friendly voice holding up two fists with needles sticking out between each finger. "Leth do this!" The voice echoed past Kat who had hidden herself behind an enormous tree.
Kat shivered and wiped the blood off her face "I'm not going to go down that easily." She whispered to herself making the silver magic in her hand spark furiously.

Re: ~Angels Help~

“That yell beckons the beginning of our fight,“ Erik could hear the tortured rage of Davy’s soul as steel clashed with steel. He stumbled forward, the knife point no longer pressed to his back, and turned to see Wedgie Bayer smiling excitedly at him. “I want to enjoy this, so please do your best….”
Without hesitation and without giving his opponent a chance to finish speaking, Erik dropped his hands to his belt and drew both of his pistols. Wedgie immediately rolled to his left, coming up behind a large rock that stood just above his waste, a slender blade specially weighted for throwing in his right hand. He held three more such tools in his left. Stupid fool Wedgie licked his lips and tensed, ready to spring from behind his cover. His guns might give him the advantage in range and power, but once he fires both shots it’s all over…. He was definitely excited now.
But there was nothing but silence.
Erik stood behind a large tree about thirty feet from the rock Wedgie had ducked behind. Of course he never walked around with his guns and ready to fire. That was just stupid. Pulling back the flintlocks, Erik sighed and glanced around the tree toward the rock. He’s seen me…. Erik pressed his back against the tree, forcing his heartbeat and breathing to calm. There’s no point in hurrying or getting excited. My guns might give me the advantage in range and power, but if I miss it‘s all over….
Several minutes passed in complete silence, save for the occasional cry of battle and the sound of sword striking sword from somewhere not too distant. Finally, Wedgie broke the silence:
“Well, listen, if you’re not coming out, I am!” With that, he calmly and slowly stood and began walking toward Erik’s hiding place.
What is he doing?! Erik was genuinely confused and uncertain as to what course of action he should take. He has to have something in mind…. Or is that what he wants me to think…? Erik closed his eyes for less than a second. Upon opening, they were hard and cold. Stepping out, he leveled a shot at Wedgie and fired.
The shot hit and Wedgie staggered backward, crumpling to the ground. The knives had fallen from his hands, laying scattered and stuck point down in the ground. Erik cautiously approached, still uncertain as to whether or not this was some sort of trick. Still, it was a clean hit…. Counting to sixty, Erik crossed the distance between himself and Wedgie’s body, satisfied that his opponent was either dead or down for the count. Placing the toe of his boot beneath Wedgie’s side, Erik pushed, rolling the body over.
Wedgie grinned and then Erik felt a flash of agony as his nerves were set afire. Now it was the pistols turn to fall from Erik’s hands as he staggered backward several steps. His hand went to his stomach and came back bloodied. Wedgie laughed sardonically.
“I really do wish that you could see the look on your face right now….” He slowly wiped the blood from his knife with a small white handkerchief that looked as if it had been used for exactly that purpose countless times before. He then opened his coat, revealing rows of identical looking knives carefully tucked in place. Erik coughed and could faintly taste blood. He fell to his knees.
“Oh, in case you were wondering, it’s bullet proof.” Wedgie kneeled down so that his face was level with Erik’s, whose glare only served to widen Wedgie’s grin. Pulling another knife out from inside of his coat, Wedgie stood. “Now that the fight is over, the real fun can begin.”

Re: ~Angels Help~

The two captains chatted on for a while, with Mirage sitting in silence and Lewis reclining in his chair, apparently asleep. After some time, Riley got to his feet. He kicked Lewis' chair, and the musician rose as well. "It truly has been a pleasure speaking to you, Gillian Graham." spoke the captain, with his eyes closed and upturned, a smile on his face. "Unfortunately, you seek the Gem at the center of the island. This... This is a problem for both of us." Riley crouched down in the sand, and removed something from underneath it. "It is a problem for me, because I desire it, and a problem for you..." Riley's smile vanished and his eyes became cold and hard. "Because you will die for it." Riley swung his massive spear around, almost cutting Gillian. at the same time, Lewis leapt at Mirage with a Dagger in hand. Gillian's focus shifted entirely to his opponent at that point, Riley appeared to be too dangerous of an opponent to ignore. "Rising Phoenix!" Riley Roared, sending a barrage of upward spear slashes at Gillian, who managed to evade all but one, but just that one hit was enough. Gillian gave a sharp intake of breath, it felt like the energy was being sucked right out of him. He staggered back, clutching the cut. Riley looked confused for a moment, and then the truth dawned on him. "So, You're a devil fruit user, Eh? Never would have guessed it. So, what's your power? if it was a logia, you'd have used it by now, so that leaves paramecia and zoan. You don't seem very animalistic, so I'd personally rule Zoan out. That leaves paramecia... and if that is true, you have no chance against me. Surrender, and leave the island now, and you can live." Gillian was silent for a moment, and then spoke. "I will leave as you ask. now, tell your subordinate to stop fighting Mirage." Riley merely laughed. "I said NOTHING about letting your nakama leave. So, scurry away, you rat with a Devil fruit, scurry away." He had just begun to laugh again when the eight foot tall Gillian punched him in the face. Riley went flying, and connected with a plam tree, and with a sickening crack, the tree broke and fell. Riely stood up, Blood trickling from his head, his hair obscuring his eyes. He raised his head, allowing Gillian to see his eyes. In those eyes was a blazing fury, unlike Gillian had ever seen before, something almost otherworldly. For a moment, Gillian thought he may have incurred the wrath of a Demon. Riley Brought his pear up into position, and then tensed all of his muscles. "SORU!" as soon as Riley had said the phrase, Gillian felt hot pain lancing up his side. How...is he so fast? thought Gillian. Riley's charge continued, slamming him against one of the riddle doors. The spear point, half in Gillian's side, slammed up against the door and stuck fast. Riley let go of his spear for a moment, and faced Gillian, that animalistic rage still in his eyes. "So, how is your first taste of Rokushiki? I do hope you have Learned your Lesson, Gillian Graham, you should have run when you had the chance." Gillian nodded, stalling for time. "You're right, Riley, it was foolish of me to challenge you. I have no idea what your ability is, but it is truly powerful. Now, I have one last request." "And what is that? I do hope it's not mercy, it would be a terrible thing if If I couldn't fulfill your last request." Gillian shook his head weakly. "Not to you, but to God himself... PLEASE LET THIS WORK!" Gillian slammed his fist onto the red riddle button, and the trapdoor beneath them opened up, sending a shocked Riley Tanza plummeting into the depths of the island, and left Gillian hanging above the abyss by his foe's spear. The trapdoor closed, and he got back his footing, just in time to watch the conclusion of Mirage's battle.

Re: ~Angels Help~

Silent Revenge came slashing through the air, but Davy’s rage-driven efforts were in vain; Pharos had understood that Davy’s challenge was no joke, and his acrobatic movements were far above the skills which Davy mastered in his fierce rage.
Blind to everything else, Davy continued his foolish inconsiderate attacks and was either parried or dodged every single time, giving him no advance whatsoever, and by every swing his agility was starting to sink.
Somewhere deep inside Davy started to understand that his rage would be his bane unless he swiftly diverged from the path of anger and calmed down to his normal state; but was he strong enough to do that? Was he even strong enough to beat Pharos even if the rage would calm and his senses return to him?
Pharos coughed quite curtly and with a careful voice he spoke Davy out of his trance:

”Ye know…we coul’ end it here…both o’ us unharmed...”

Finally, grasping for air, Davy managed to hold back the urge to utterly destroy the memory of the betrayer who stood in front of him, and at the same time erase the memories of Meredith. The air was redolent with hatred but somehow Davy managed to hold back all his sheltered feelings by thinking back at the earlier events where Kat and Graphite had been separated from him and Erik, and how he wished to save her…to gaze upon her pretty smile.

Davy stood up and watched the narrow space of the tunnel where skies slowly made their way through the sky, leaving behind all regrets and memories, never again to return to that same spot. Davy had no tears left to shed nor did he have any regret to show, but he answered his former friend with a proud, deep voice; this was the truth and there was no point in more lies:

”It’s too late for that…and you know it, Pharos. But before we end our friendship here at this damned island of mysteries, I want to know…You were not a part of the plot which included Meredith...?”

Pharos struggled to keep his grip on the swords, and with a last, withering voice he answered:

“Nay...”

To Pharos great surprise, Davy smiled slightly and nodded with a resolution he had not had since the fight began. For a moment, they both grinned like they used to back in the times which now seemed like ancient dreams from another lifetime.

“Then, my friend, let’s end this now…no regrets.”

Pharos nodded curtly, preparing himself for the final stage of the fight; and though it stayed unspoken, they both knew their battle had come down to a single attack fight; there would be no dodges or parrying, and they knew they were putting their lives on the line.
While Pharos muttered to himself, whispering the same words over and over: “No regrets, no regrets”, Davy found himself thinking of Kat again.
‘If I can’t do this…I cannot protect anyone. I need to become stronger...’
Then Davy shrugged and left behind him every grudge he ever held towards Pharos, raised up Silent Revenge, and positioned himself into a close-combat range.
On the opposite side, Pharos raised both of his swords and made himself ready, there were no regret in his eyes.

Both men charged at each other, both aiming their sword towards their opponents and in a matter of seconds, the fight between Pharos and Davy was over.
Pharos sighed deeply and broke a silence which seemed to last forever; then, holding his left arm tightly, he turned around to see Davy fall towards the stone floor.

”I knew ye wer’ goin’ to aim for my left arm, Davy…I knew ye wanted to make me understan’…But the Emeral’ Crew needs me, so I can’t accept the loss of even an’ arm.”

The echoing footsteps of Pharos leaving were painful to Davy’s ears. In fact, Davy’s whole body was in pain and blood seemed to gather beneath were he lay, like a mark of his loss in the battle. The line between consciousness and unconsciousness was getting weaker, and the last thought inside Davy’s mind before blacking out, was even more painful than the loss:

‘I can’t protect anyone…’

Re: ~Angels Help~

Graphit shot himself forwards and delivered a kick to Zachary's face, but a split second before it connected Zachary elegantly spun around himself, diverging the kick with one hammer and attacking Graphit's head with the other. Graphit quickly dogged by throwing himself to the ground, head first. He stopped his fall with his left hand. He shifted all his weight on to it and used his diverged foot's momentum to start spinning.
"PENCIL TWISTER!"
The attack blew Zachary back causing him to crash into a nearby tree and leaving him with several cuts. Zachary looked down to his chest and tightened the grip on his hammers.

"Your pretty good" said Zachary calmly getting up, "To think you actually use those pencils in combat"

"hempf, Don't underestimate a pencil's power" said Graphit while pushing himself up with his hand and landing his feet.

"Don't worry, Pencil boy, I won't hold back" said Zachary and chuckled at his opponents amusing remark. He charged forwards towards Graphit and jumped in the air holding both hammers high above his head, and as he landed he shouted
"Ground Crunch"
Both hammers hit a few feet away from Graphit but with such power that the ground beneath them crumbled and created a shockwave that made Graphit lose his balance. Zachary quickly took advantage of that and sprung towards Graphit, swinging both hammers at his stomach. Graphit barely managed to block the attack with his pencils armlets. Great pain shot through Graphit arms and he was sent flying into the nearest tree by the sheer power of the strike. 'what the hell was that' thought Graphit but e didn't have time to think about it. A follow up attack came towards him, again Zachary jumped forwards and swung both his hammers at Graphit simultaneously, Graphit barely dogged by jumping out of the way. The attack hit the tree behind him and broke it's masive trunk cleanly off, sending the entire tree's body flying through the air.

"How much does those hammers weigh!" said Graphit to himself as he watched  the broken tree hitting another tree and dropping to the ground with it.

"One ton each" said Zachary

Graphit stood up and stared at Zachary who was spinning his hammers on his hands.

"The forger's Pencil Mallet is at least ten" said Graphit.

Graphit jumped forwards spinning in mid air, and landed on his hand, just behind Zachary.
"PENCIL TWISTER!"
Graphit spun in great speed and he kept accelerating but Zachary was not there.
"So, using the same old tricks ah?" he said as he sudenly appeared form above.
"Ground Crunch" Shouted Zachary
Graphit bent his axis hand and pushed himself upwards with it dogging the shockwave by leaving the ground. And while in mid air he shouted: "Levi-" just then he heard a high toned scream that was followed by a faint thud. Graphit landed and without thinking, he quickly turned away from his opponent and as he saw Kat lying at the foot of a tree he shouted "KAT!! Kat are you ok?!".
"You don't have time to worry about others." Zachary's voice came from behind him
"Hammer Pincer!"
A loud 'clank' was sound was heard as Zachary thrust both his hammers at both of Graphit's sides in a pincer like movement. Graphit gasped in pain, blood gushing from his mouth. Then the follow up attack hit him as Zachary swung both hammers at him in a quick spinning motion.
The impact emitted a small shockwave and Graphit was sent flying straight through a tree, breaking it with his impact and hitting another who fell on him as he hit it.

"Well I guess that's it" said Zachary looking at the two broken trees that fell on Graphit.
"That sure was interesting. You sure were a nice opponent pencil gu-GYAA!!!"

Irohk heard his own cheek break. He slammed hard into the hot sand. He stayed slightly concious. Then he saw D.D. fling Valencious into the air.
Irohk tried to push himself up, only to feel the pain split through his cheek bone.
"gotta get eric to fix that up too" HE said clambering up. "stop screwing aruond! YOUR MINE!" Screamed Irohk as he lunged toward D.D.
D.D. dodged, his shirt got cut.
"O ain' tha' a sharp sword ya got 'dere!" Said D.D. smiling.
SLAM
The pain surged through Irohks back. He fell face first into the hot sand again.
"no crack tis time...." Said irohk through clenched teeth as he stood up. "Means ther aint no broken bones!" He said as he lunged forcefully into D.D.'s Stomach. It hit 3 centimeters away from his belly button. He withdrew his sword and went for another, but only felt another sharp pang of pain in the top of his head.
"How DARE you injure me!" Said D.D. as blood spilled from his mouth.
G.D. FINISHER!!!!
His spear twisted to cut, he jumped into the air, and flew down with amazing speed, and he slamed his spear down only to miss Irohk. He created a 3 foot wide circle, about 5 feet deep. But then he realised it. He was done from the momnt he jumped up. As he flew toward the ground, Irohk managed to throw his sword into the air, and escape at the last second.
"Oh...you got meh" Said D.D. smiling slgihtly. D.D. could feel the could metal in his chest. "it was fun littl man"  He said weakily.
Irohk was on the ground 4 feet away panting. He got up, and walkover to D.D. in the middle of the pit. He climbed in.
He pulled the sword out of his chest.
"Thanks much Irohk" Said D.D. as he fel lto the ground, "For a final battle, that i wont forget"
Irohk clambered out of the pit and collapsed.

Re: ~Angels Help~

"That sure was interesting. You sure were a nice opponent pencil gu-GYAA!"

Zachary was frozen in shock staring at one of the broken parts of the trees. The heavy trunk was tossed away and Graphit emerged from beneath it. His yellow tee-shirt stained with blood in its sides and front, and his hands filled with cuts and bruises.

"Y-You're still alive?!" shouted Zachary in surprise

Graphit spat out blood, he placed his fingers on the tip of his pencil puncher and laughed.

"I can't die now" he said, smiling as he pulled the tip until it was a meter long. "If I do, I... I will certainly not become a Shichidai" he said grinning and coughed up blood.

"Shichidai? What the hell are Shichidai??" asked Zachary clearly confused, "More importantly how can you still be standing!?"

But Graphit didn't listen, a strange thought went through his mind. He said the words that had always kept him fighting but now they seemed unfit 'Is there another reason to why I keep on fighting?' he asked himself. He remembered Davy's story, the look on his face as he told the crew he was betrayed, he most win against he people who hurt him so deeply for him. He remembered the faint thud and the sight of Kat body at the foot of the nearest tree. He must win the fight to protect her. He finally realized why his last words seemed unfit.

"I'm fighting for my Nakama" he said "and for they're sake I cannot lose". He moved forwards slowly his cody sent waves of pain with every step his body seemed crushed but his eyes were full of conviction.

"oh? You can’t lose" said Zachary "But haven't you lost already? What can you do with a body like this? Just die!" he said and charged forwards.

"With this body I can show you…" he said as he planted his enlonged pencil tip in the ground, "I'll show you my finest attack!"
"P E N C I L    R A I L W A Y!"

Graphit ran with great speed in a straight line and zoomed right past a surprised Zachary. He kept on running moving in weird lines and cycles and  keeping the pencil tip in the ground.

"Are you sure you're alright?" asked Zachary and laughed, amused by Graphit strange pattern of movement.

Graphit Ignored him and continued to run around in strange patterns, then and again he turned towards Zachary and went right past him, but never attacking him. After a short while of seemingly pointless movement the entire area surrounding Zachary was covered in thin connecting tunnels made by Graphit's enloged pencil tip. And Graphit stood far from him at the edge the tunneled area.

"That was the most pointless move I ever saw…" said Zachary looking around him in confusion.

"Pointless?" asked Graphit and laughed as he extended his foot pencil's tips. "I dare you to say that in a few seconds"

He planted the one hand which he did not enlong in the side of the tunnel, and kicked the ground. the kick caused him to start spinning and moving forward, and he kept on kicking it while moving, accelerating him to an insane speed.

PENCIL SHINI-DENSHA! (Jap: death train)

Before Zachary knew what happened he felt a surge of pain, a few cuts appeared on his body and Graphit was at the opposite side of the tunnel still spinning then another kick to the ground and he was launched again cutting Zachary again before he could react.

"I see…" said Zachary While Graphit was spinning at the tunnel's edge "You can't direct your movement in this speed so you made this tunnel… clever" Graphit launched again and Zachary barely dogged it. "But I've seen through your technique pencil boy!" he said and tightened the grip on his hammers "because of the tunnels I can predict you movements perfectly!" He was grinning wildly and Graphit launched his next attack.
"This time you'll come from here!" He said and swiftly turned and attacked, holding both hammers close to each other and aiming at the part of the tunnel right in front of him.

"Hammer Shot!"

"LEVITATION!"

Zachary missed and hit the ground, sending shockwave that wiped out part of the rail way near him. he looked around but Graphit was nowhere to be found.

"Did he escape?" asked Zachary, he was breathing heavily, lifting the heavy hammers and losing tha much blood began to take its toll.

"Where are you!" he shouted in frustration.

"Up here!" a voice from above reached Zachary, he looked up and saw Graphit, high above him. His was body still spinning in incredible speed. His legs incredible spin keeping him in midair like a chopper. Graphit closed his legs and started falling, his body still spinning and his hand reached out. Zachary stared at the sky, his mouth agape and his eyes bulging in omplete shock.

"What th-?" he started.

"PENCIL COMET!"

Graphit's stood on one hand, its pencil tip was deep within the ground, his yellow armlet dyed in red, blood dripping from it onto the broken ground. With the force of the fall, Graphit's hand drilled through Zachary's chest, coming of his back. He placed his legs on the ground and pulled his hand out of the dead man's body.

"This has been bugging me" he said as he came closer to Zachary's face, he then pulled out a pencil and painted an eyebrow over Zachary's left eye and chuckled just before falling into unconsciousness.

Re: ~Angels Help~

Erik coughed hard and could taste the blood in his mouth, as Wedgie slowly circled around him, admiring his twisted work. “Anything to say for yourself, doctor?” Wedgie laughed coldly. Knelling down in front of Erik Wedgie reached out with one hand and grabbed him by the hair, brandishing a knife in the other. “Tell me, what with you being a doctor and all: Where do you think I should start?”
Without a word or warning, Erik pushed with all the strength his legs could muster. Smashing his head into Wedgie’s face, Erik sustained a superficial cut across his cheek. With some small satisfaction, he saw Wedgie stumble backward, clutching his nose and spouting out unspeakable curses. Erik snatched as many of the knives from the ground as he could hold in one hand and staggered off toward the nearby tree-line. Have to find cover…. He was surprised at how little his wound bled, convinced that he must be suffering from shock. Shivering despite the warmth. his face pale, Erik hastily stumbled over roots and rocks in search of some place to hide.

Wedgie wiped his nose with the back of his hand and then licked his lips, savoring the taste of his own blood. He could see the occasional drop of blood leading into the trees. Wedgie smiled with satisfaction. “Well, I guess I must look like quite the fool right now,” he said to himself. He now held three knives in each closed fist, the blades extending from between his fingers. “I suppose that’s only fair, considering how I suckered you earlier….” Wedgie sighed, appreciating the irony, but then steeled himself as a thin smile crossed his face. “Still, you’ve hurt my pride, and for that, I‘ll make you beg me to end your life….”

Gritting his teeth tightly, Erik tied off the bandages around his stomach and took a deep breath. There…not too bad…. He winced with pain. It’s deep, but no major organs seemed to have been damaged. Erik stood up, his back to what was once a large pillar of stone, and slowly stretched. It hurt and his body didn’t want to move like it should, but he was certain now that there were at least no internal injuries. Realizing that Wedgie would be after him in moments, Erik examined his surrounding, looking for anything he might use to his advantage….

Cautiously stepping into the clearing, Wedgie paused in surprise and confusion. Erik sat amongst the foot-high grass with his back propped against a large stone pillar, legs spread and eyes closed. Several layers of white clothe were wrapped around his stomach and he was breathing deeply. Taking a step forward, Erik’s eyes opened, causing Wedgie to hesitate.
“I was wondering how long it would take you to get here….” Erik smiled calmly and politely. It was then that Wedgie noticed the two pistols laying in Erik’s lap. Smiling in kind, though it was far from reassuring or inviting, Wedgie began to approach Erik with a measure of confidence. Erik was reminded of a jungle cat who had cornered its prey and was now deciding how best to approach and finish it.
“So, what is this…? You’re just sitting there hoping that I’ll come close enough for you to pick me off?” Wedgie smirked. Erik still made no move for his pistols, continuing to smile. He could see that his behavior was throwing-off Wedgie and hoped to continue to play his opponent’s bloodlust against him. “If you want to play the waiting game, that’s fine with me. You’re the injured party.” He continued moving in a straight line toward Erik. “Plus, I’m certain that Pharos will have finished off your friend by this point.” This last statement sounded like a challenge, daring Erik to contradict it. But no words came to Erik in reply. From the moment Davy and he had met these two, a certain sense of dread and apprehension had filled his heart. It had still not left.
“I think I can hit you from here….” Erik raised one of his pistols with some effort and leveled it at Wedgie’s chest, eliciting a wry chuckle from the other man.
“Even if you hit me….” Wedgie spread his arms wide and said no more, the implication was clear to Erik. “You’d be better off aiming for somewhere that counts, doctor.” he said rather snidely, gesturing toward his head as he continued moving forward. It was then that Wedgie felt his foot strike something hidden in the tall grass.
“Perhaps I’ll keep that in mind.” Erik’s smile vanished completely as he dropped his aim toward Wedgie’s feet.
“no….”
There was a brief flash, the sound of a small explosion, and a much louder and more terrifying scream, as Erik’s shot hit its mark. He had cracked and emptied most of his ammunition as part of a desperate gamble; a gamble which paid-off. Wedgie held his foot as he lay on the ground, tears streaming from his eyes as he continued to scream. Where his right foot had once been was now little more than a stump.
Using the stone pillar as a brace, Erik slowly pulled himself to his feet, careful not to pull his muscles too much. Slowly and methodically, he made his way over toward Wedgie, first taking the time to reload.
“you…you bastard….” Wedgie muttered his curse through clenched teeth, his black coat spread around, the broken wings of a black-winged gull.
“That should keep you out of trouble for the time being. I’m sure one of your crewmates will come to find you eventually….” Keeping his distance away from and his eyes upon his opponent at all times, Erik began to walk toward where he hoped Davy and Pharos still fought one another.
“Do you…really think this is….over?” Wedgie turned and dragged his body several feet after Erik. “You…and me? Do you think that we’re done here?” Wedgie laughed maniacally, the pain seeming to add a touch of hysteria to his voice. Erik paused, his back still turned to Wedgie, and the latter grinned broadly despite the pain. “I’ll find you, you know, Erik.” It was the first time the man had used Erik’s name. “You, your crew, and any one for whom you’ve ever cared! I’ll find them and….”
Erik calmly turned, locked eyes with Wedgie, and fired.

Pharos turned and walked away. Pharos had broken Davy’s body, and perhaps a part of his spirit as well, yet he had left his opponent and once-upon-a-time friend alive. After all, Davy had not been the one in the wrong.
“So, you won….”
Pharos spun around at the sound of the calm voice, but did not draw his swords. Standing at the edge of the path was Davy’s friend, the doctor, though he looked much the worse for wear. His face was pale and shone with dried sweat, his left hand pressed tightly against his clothe wrapped stomach. His right arm hung rather limply at his side, a pistol clutched tightly in his hand.
“You beat Wedgie. I can’t really say that I’m disappointed.” the older man sighed and hefted one of his swords, “Now what? Do we fight?” He seemed genuinely tired to Erik.
“You don’t look to be in much shape for a fight….” Erik began walking toward Pharos, who laughed loudly and heartily.
I don’t look to be in much shape for a fight? I know we don’t have mirrors out here lad, but…well, have you looked at yourself?” Pharos gestured wildly, truly at a loss for words.
“Perhaps you’re right….” Smiling sadly, Erik closed his eyes and bowed his head. Pharos made no move to attack. “Trade?”
“Trade?” Pharos blinked questioningly. “What do you mean by ‘trade’?”
“We are pirates, after all, and I suppose pirates have their pride. I’ll let you go while I tend to Davy’s wounds….” Erik met Pharos’ gaze and smiled, cheerily this time.
“And I’ll let you go while I collect Wedgie, is that it?” Pharos queried.
“If that’s what you want to tell yourself.” Pharos burst into laughter once more and walked past Erik in the direction from which the latter man had come. Erik inclined his head slightly as the other man passed him. He then walked over to Davy and, after taking a minute to make a superficial check of his wounds, propped the younger man against his right side and began hobbling down the path.
Davy muttered something, but Erik couldn’t make out the words.
I can’t protect anyone….

Re: ~Angels Help~

As Gillian began his battle with Riley, Lewis leaped at Mirage with a dagger. His eyes widened as first his dagger and then he himself passed through her. He landed on the ground and turned around to see the Mirage he had passed through fade.

"F-for being one who c-can manipulate illusions, y-you are s-surprisingly bad at seeing through them..." Mirage allowed a slight grin to come to her lips. Lewis sprang to his feet and looked behind him.

"Shut up, it was *hic* unexpected." Lewis frowned and threw the dagger at Mirage. She sidestepped it and looked back at him.

"It... shouldn't matter..." Mirage said as she began walking forward. Lewis took a step back and raised his flute to his lips. Mirage blinked and rubbed her eyes as she saw Gillian standing before her. She shook her head and took another step forward. Lewis grinned inwardly as his opponent came closer to him and her demise. Another step. Lewis' inner grin widened. A fourth step. Before he realized what hit him, Lewis was flying back, a foot-shaped imprint on the side of his face. He rose to his feet to see Mirage's foot a few inches from his head. He ducked back as she passed over him, and spun around, catching her in the side with his flute. A soft cry of pain escaped Mirage's mouth as she was knocked to the ground by the unusually heavy instrument. She lay on the ground for a moment, hearing music. She swung her legs over her head and rolled to her feet, looking Graphit standing before her.

Mirage blinked again. Graphit!? How did he get here!? Mirage wondered. No... flute... illusion... a second thought at the back of Mirage's mind was pushed back by the flute's music. Mirage's eyes widened for a moment as the thought flashed in and out of her mind. She closed her eyes for a second, focusing. She began to raise her hand toward the image of Graphit and opened her eyes, now slits of silver light. The image around Lewis wavered and vanished, though the music had not stopped. Lewis lowered the flute.

"Illusions will have no effect on me." Mirage stared at Lewis with her silver eyes. "You'll have to fight without tricks this time."

Lewis returned her stare. "Fine *hic* by me!" He twirled his flute in his hand. He lashed out with the instrument. Mirage bent back and thrust her feet at Lewis' stomach. The musician grunted and doubled over, nearly losing his grip on the flute. Mirage twisted around to land on her feet but was quickly thrown to the ground as her opponent's flute caught her in the side of the head. Shakily, she rose to her feet and didn't see Lewis. She cried out as she was hit in the back by his foot. Again, she pushed herself to her feet. Lewis stood a couple feet in front of her, laughing. "You ain't *hic* that great, missy!"

Mirage wiped a drop of blood from her mouth with her sleeve and looked at him again. "You're n-not either." She chuckled and spun around, bringing her foot in a wide arc aimed at her opponent's face. Lewis turned and slammed his flute into Mirage's leg with speed that seemed impossible for a drunken man. Mirage was tossed to the side, crashing into the ground again. As she rose, she began to laugh. "I guess I'll have to stop going easy on you..." She threw a kick at Lewis' neck, which was blocked by his flute, just as Mirage had expected. She twisted around and shot her other foot out to catch the musician in the chest. He flew back as Mirage landed on her hands. She sprang up and quickly dashed at Lewis, knocking him back to the ground as he stood. She held her hand out from her side a bit. As the musician stood, he noticed a sword in the girl's hand. Surprised, he stepped back as it came towards him. Instinctively, he raised the flute to block the sword- which much to his surprise, passed through the flute without resistance. Mirage laughed as her foot hit Lewis in the chin. "You're not the only one with the power of illusions."

"I *hic* see that," Lewis said, standing up, ignoring the spear his opponent now held in her other hand. "Illusions like that *hic*only help once."

Mirage smiled slightly. "We'll see."

Lewis grunted and rand at Mirage, flute in hand. He swung the flute, which she easily dodged, and followed the attack with a roundhouse kick to her side. Mirage was knocked to the side, rolling as she hit the ground and landing on her feet. The two combatants rushed at each other again. Lewis was flung back as Mirage's knee crashed up into his stomach. He rolled backwards to find Mirage still rushing him.

"This fight... is over," Mirage said. Lewis ignored her and raised his flute in a futile effort to attack as his opponent came closer. He screamed as the spear she held impaled his chest, continuing through him and into the ground. He dropped his flute.

"Wha-!?" Lewis tried to speak and coughed up blood. Mirage looked down at him, the silver light in her eyes fading.

"U-unlike you, I c-can solidify illusions with enough f-focus..." Mirage replied. Lewis coughed again and his eyes rolled back. Mirage released her grip on the illusory spear, which instantly vanished. She stepped away from the body of her opponent and towards Gillian. "L- let's go..."

Re: ~Angels Help~

Sweat trickled down the side of Kats face as she struggled to control her heavy breathing in attempt to stop the thundering of her heart beat.
"Whath the mather honey? I can hear your hear beathing from way over here!~" Sang Meredith in her cheerful voice. Kat instantly held her breath and let her eyes quickly dart from left to right looking for a way out.
"Tsk tsk, already thinking abouth escaping huh?" Kat froze. "You wanth tho escape buth since you can no longer hear the sounds of bathle from your pencil friend, your worried abouth him aren'th you? Your noth the type who likes tho fight. So your planning on using a lithle magic thrick tho geth past me, run all the way tho your beloved pencil friend and somehow escape through one of the doors. The only problem is your noth sure your skinny legs will be able tho make ith there because they're trembling way to much." Kat eyes widened and she looked down at her legs that were shaking uncontrollably 'How could she know... everything...'
"You're scared aren't ya? Because my voice keeps getting closer and closer to the tree you're hiding behind." The swelling in Merediths mouth was disappearing and she was starting to talk straight. "You're scared katty... because you know I'm going to kill you." Kat could hear those last words as a whisper in her ear and could feel Merediths cold breath on the side of her face. She jumped and turned to the direction the voice came from and looked behind the tree but there was no one there.
"Needle point!" Kat spun around just in time to see five needles flying straight at her from behind, but it was too late to do anything about it. She screamed in pain as all five needle struck into her left leg in a perfect straight line. "Hahaha! Don't worry! I avoided contact with any major arteries and such, I don’t want you to die too soon after all you remind me way too much of my self... you noticed it too right Katty? The first time we met? Its probably the reason you didn’t like me right off the bat." Merediths voice echoed through the trees from no particular direction at all. Kat got up slowly trying her best to hold back her tears and stared in Graphits direction wondering if he was ok. "Forget about him. Zachary is not the type to let his opponents live after a battle. Why don’t you come with me instead? You want to live don’t you? You want to get stronger don’t yo-?"
"Your wrong!" Screamed Kat tears falling down her face uncontrollably. "I don’t want to get stronger if it means leaving a friend behind, I don’t want to live if it means living with a crabs ass like you and don’t you ever even for a second think that I'm anything like you!" All the fear in Kats eyes was replaced by anger as she put more weight on her injured leg using the pain to help her focus.
"Crabs What!?" Yelled Meredith. "Needle point!" but this time Kat was more prepared.
"Shield!" She yelled placing both palms on the ground. Aside from the first needle which pierced through her right shoulder all of the others rebounded off the silvery shield which now protected Kat. Kat knew she wouldn’t be able to run with her shield up so in a split second, while Meredith was still confused, Kat stuck out one hand in the direction were the voice came from and yelled "seal!" A silver light shot out straight at Meredith who was hiding on a branch on a nearby tree, but she dodged it with ease, jumping in the air and throwing her weight forward so that she was now directly above Kat.
“Needle shower!” Smiled Meredith flicking a hand downward at Kat. Kats jaws dropped as a thousand needles instantly shot out of Meredith’s hands. With her magic still focused on her previous spell there was no way she’d be able to set up another shield in time. “Gotcha.” Giggled Meredith flipping once then landing perfectly on her two feet, her back facing Kat. She tilted her head back and waited for the smoke to clear just in time to see another flash of silver magic flying straight at her. She didn’t have time to react and for a split second she thought she actually lost to a little girl.
“Seal!” Yelled Kat but the spell had missed Merediths face by half a centimeter and landed on the tree behind her. The dust settled revealing Kat with one hand still planted firmly on the same spot on the ground and one palm facing Meredith, blood all over.
“How many times do you plan on using the same trick Katty?” Asked Meredith jumping to the left so as not to be in line with Kat magical hand. But her soft smile couldn’t hide the nervousness the drop of sweet streaming down her face proved she felt. That was a close one. Kat was hit by at least two dozen of the needles before managing to put up a second shield.
“Just one more time.” Muttered Kat weakly forcing herself to remain conscious and forcing her magic to spark in her hand once more.
“Cheh, don’t be so sure.” Said  Meredith running towards Kat crossing her arms and clenching her fists to get a better grip on the needles.
“Seal!” Screamed Kat with the last of her energy.
“Cross point!” Yelled Meredith simultaneously, releasing the needles so that they formed a giant cross shape as they flew towards Kat.
Kat’s magic collided with Merediths needles half way, but that wasn’t enough to stop either of the attacks. Meredith being used to Kats attack by now simply side stepped it and avoided it completely, but Kat wasn’t going to give up just yet either. She quickly placed both hands on the ground and focused all of her magic into her palms.
“Wind burst!” She yelled before an enormous gust of wind threw her several meters in the air allowing her to narrowly escape the needles.
“Looks like you finally gave up on using your shield against such high speed attacks.” Laughed Meredith genuinely enjoying herself. “Looks like both of our attacks missed their targets after all.”
“No… I hit my target.” Said Kat loud enough for Meredith to here from the ground.
“Huh?” Said Meredith confused. But she got her answer soon enough.
“Three way earth seal!!” Kat’s voice echoed through the trees as and enormous spark of silver magic shot out of her hands at the ground. She wasn’t aiming for Meredith though. The spark went straight for the point on the ground where one of Kats palms was placed throughout the battle. All Meredith could do was stare wide eyed as three of the already huge trees around her began to grow instantly. In a matter of seconds she was trapped in a semi sphere made of ridiculously thick branches, thorns and vines with the point were Kats magic hit at the centre.
“Don’t tell me…” Said Meredith her smile gone for the first time.
“Slow fall.” Came Kats weak voice as she landed gently on the other side of Meredith’s wooden prison.
“This whole time…” Said Meredith staring at the little girl through the tiny wholes between the branches. ‘From the first attack she was never aiming for me but for the tree’s around me.’ Thought Meredith remembering that the three trees that suddenly grew to make the prison where the same ones that Kats attacks hit when she dodged them.
“It’s an earth seal.” Said Kat from the outside. “Don’t bother trying to cut through those branches or trying to dig your way out of it. The seal will wear off in three days, until then your bound by magic to this place.”
“Needle point!” Said Meredith aiming to hit Kat using one of the holes between the branches but the needles just sprang back at her.
“I told you its useless. Nothings coming in or out of that seal for a while.” Muttered Kat weakly.
“So your just going to leave me rot in here huh? Haha, see now I like you even more! You really are just like me.”
“I’M NOTHING LIKE YOU!” Yelled Kat with disgust. “I know you went easy on me. I know… so try not to finish it all in one go, you’ll be here for a while after all.” Muttered Kat as she turned to leave. Meredith looked back and noticed Kats backpack lying on the ground nearby, packed with all of her food and medical supplies.
“This isn’t over you know…” Said Meredith with a genuine gentle smile on her face for the first time since they met.
“Yes…Yes it is.” Said Kat limping towards Graphit. “You ancient crabs ass…”

“You ancient WHAT!?? Needle point!! Cross point!! Get your ass back here DAMMIT!”

Re: ~Angels Help~

A ray of light from above was what finally managed to wake Davy from his, what seemed restless, sleep. The burning pain was unleashed again as he managed to recollect the broken memories of what had just occurred at the cursed island they had been brought upon. The reason for their decision to explore the island seemed so distant and unreasoned; could it all have been avoided?
Davy finally managed to open an eye and gazed upon a slightly anxious, or perhaps worried, Erik who was supporting Davy as they walked the path. Before Erik could notice him being awake, Davy closed his eyes and hid the fact that he had reached a state of somewhat consciousness again.
How could he face Erik knowing he had been defeated when he hardly managed to face himself; there was no pride left in him, neither could he understand why he was still alive. Death had been best, both for himself and his pride, and the crew; a weakling like him, unable to revenge his own mistakes of the past, was not worth of having such nakama.
Erik, tired as he seemed, smiled slightly and spoke to Davy:

“Your wounds were not lethal, and you will survive…”

Erik did not expect an answer, neither did he think Davy would be able to speak much at the moment; his wounds were deep, but he knew that Davy’s deepest wounds had most likely been inflicted to his spirit.
Davy coughed and saw as deep, red blood reached the ground; then he finally took the courage to answer:

“You should’ve left me there…I lost…I lost without a trace of pride.”

Erik kept his silence, mostly because there were no words to speak which could cheer Davy up, but also because pity would only make everything worse for him. Reluctantly, he kept his gaze towards the path and ignored Davy, who looked dismal as they continued.
Suddenly, without any warning or notice, the skies were opened and rain began pouring down on the ground; there was no wind, even though it looked if as storm was approaching.

Erik took a firmer grip around Davy and increased his pace. At the end of the path, a few hundred meters away, something which held a cover for the rain seemed to be; a minor hut or simply a cave, as far as Erik could see.
Davy also saw the sight of the small hut in the distance and praised the rain which camouflaged his tears. Some rest did not sound bad at all, and though his mind was set upon other things, he was hungry and tired; in need of rest and cure. The limit had been reached, and Davy was in a state where his mind and actions contradicted each other.

They both stepped into the, what seemed, ancient construction, with a beautiful shrine in the middle which seemed almost perfect to make a fire in. The roof also seemed decent, covering most of the room, and it was definitely sturdy, judging from it holding back the heavy rain and making it a perfect cover.
Erik carefully helped Davy to the corner where he could rest, and made a superficial search of the hut to see if there was anything they could use to make the fire. It was then, when Erik saw it.

A pile of skeletons, all seemingly turned the same way, almost as if reaching for something on the far left corner, made it seem as if there had been a dangerous battle fought inside this minor hut, and when Erik saw the remains of even more skeletons filling the outside and parts of the rooms inside, he muttered to himself:

“I can’t even guess what happened here, but this place…is a graveyard, more than a shelter.”

When Erik finished his check, he took another look at Davy’s wounds and stepped towards the door, saying:

“I’m going to find some wood we can use for a fire. You, rest, okay?”

Davy nodded without looking at Erik’s eyes, and listened to the footsteps to Erik who left the room.
When Davy’s hunger finally beat his emotions and drowsiness, he took a nearby stick, which turned out to be a large bone, and took another look at the rooms to see if there could possible be anything eligible.
The pile of skeletons Erik had seen just moments ago, did not make an impact on Davy who hardly managed to ask the question “what happened here?” Fatigued, Davy searched and searched, and finally he started throwing away the skeletons and searching through the pile.
Finally, under the last skeleton, who seemed to have been a fairly gigantic person before he died, Davy saw something which seemed fairly eligible.
Davy did not care about how the fruit of some kind looked, but noticed how there was a pattern, similar to a spider’s web, covering the surface. The fruit itself had a colour of orange and black and even in Davy’s condition, he looked slightly puzzled as he carefully opened the shell of the banana-looking fruit.
Then he took a bite.

Disgusted beyond imagination, Davy threw away the rest of the terrible fruit; had this been the reason for all the dead men? Had the tried to find a last piece of food before starving on the cursed island?
Davy’s hunger had ceased for now, and he went back to the corner Erik had placed him in; then he felt something inside; a sudden urge to vomit made Davy fall down on the floor. The feeling was indescribable, but something was certainly happening inside him; almost as if a beast was fighting towards him for the control of his body.
The raging feeling, almost as if his soul was being tortured, was something far beyond Davy’s understanding, and he couldn’t do anything; unconsciousness was about to reach his mind again. Then, suddenly, the pain disappeared.

But something was different, Davy was not Davy anymore, he was something more, something more dangerous and stronger, and yet he was Davy.
Davy’s new feeling didn’t give him a chance to notice how he was changing; his skin was turning into something orange and black, and his eyes were changing colour, and then as he saw several limbs growing out of him, he though it was a dream.
The hunger turned into an urge to eat, or rather, to find meat and hunt it, kill it, toy with it…What was he saying? Davy knew he was in a weakened state, but had he gone crazy?
He turned around, and noticed how walking had become harder than before, he was tripping and destroying the walls as he fell with brute strength.
Davy felt the strength and welcomed it to replace the pain of his wounds, and he destroyed everything around him, seeking for something to put his large teeth on, flesh he could enjoy…
Then he finally looked at himself; a fear filled him, and Davy noticed how he wasn’t himself anymore. Then, with the last power of his will, he snapped out, and returned to being Davy.
He fell to the floor and before the unconsciousness filled his mind, he understood; the fruit had not been a normal fruit.

Re: ~Angels Help~

…Some say that Those Damned by the sea, possessed by the devil himself, are let to know when another poor soul joins their ranks. They say it is an unearthly scream, as their soul is dragged down to hell itself by the demon possessing the user of the Devil fruit. Of course, this screaming could be from the vile taste of the fruit, but the legend persists, as it has ever since the first man consumed the first fruit of the devil.

Gillian wasn’t a superstitious man, but he has reminded of the legend every time he heard that same white noise. It sounded like wind whistling, and it was highly unnerving. It passed eventually, and he turned to look at Mirage, who was slowly walking towards him. He saw Lewis’ body on the ground face down, the sand sucking up the blood pooling around him. No matter how many times Gillian saw death, it still appalled him. He could not blame mirage, though. She had done what was necessary, and Lewis had paid the price for trying to kill her. Gillian looked at the blood staining his marine coat, and thought back to Riley. The man had tried to kill him for the prize that lay in wait with the Riddle angel, and he had almost succeeded. Only luck had saved Gillian’s life, something that he would not soon forget. He would have to become stronger, and fast, if he was to ever protect his crew from the threats that lie ahead. Deciding not to dwell on the matter, He nodded to Mirage, and gave a gesture in the direction of the other riddle door. Before he left, however, he wrapped his coat around his hand, and picked up the sea-stone spear, cleaned it off, and threw into the pond, where he hoped Riley wouldn’t find it. He then walked over to the other door, and pushed the button. The doors swung open, and Mirage and Gillian headed off deeper into the island.

Riley was in a blind Rage. He stormed about furiously, slamming his fists into the walls. In the last instant before he had fallen, he had seen Lewis… Lewis… He couldn’t even bear to think about it. He would avenge Lewis, and Kill all of those bastards, one by one, slowly, painfully, but Gillian Graham, Graham; He would save him for last, savoring every last moment of revenge. Riley had settled down slightly, thinking about how he was going to KILL that man, when someone else entered the room. Riley supposed that that killing some peon could slake his thirst for vengeance for the time being, long enough to get out of this dungeon and back to the ship to regroup. When he turned around, ready to fight, what he saw shocked him. He instantly recognized Pharos, and he was carrying with him what appeared Wedgie, judging from the overcoat. Riley was immensely relieved. Wedgie was probably hurt, but there was no way he could lose a fight, not with the fools who were about this island. Though, the uncomfortable though reached his mind that perhaps that Gillian Bastard had nakama on the island that hadn’t been dealt with yet… but that was a minute possibility. Riley approached Pharos, only see a numb expression on his face. He dropped Wedgie carelessly, and when Riley saw the blood on the shoulder where Pharos had been carrying him, the horrible truth burst into his mind. “…Wedgie is dead then?” Pharos only looked at the floor, murmuring. “I-I thought that… he would still be alive… I let them go… Still can’t believe…” Riley used his foot to flip the body. He saw that Wedgie’s foot had been mangled, and he saw the hole, right between his clouded, staring eyes, wide open with fright. Riley passed his hand over his Nakama’s eyes, and closed them. Riley backhanded Pharos, Snapping him out of his daze. “Captain, I’m so sorry. I fought someone that I knew from a long time ago. I didn’t kill him. The man who took him away declared a truce, and I thought, I thought that he had left Wedgie alive. But he killed him, that, that…!” Riley put a hand on his Nakama’s shoulder. “Don’t beat yourself up, Pharos. I was wrapped up in a fight myself, and one of them killed Lewis. While we will never forget our own, I suggest that we leave our fallen friends, and carry on. Their souls have already left this place, so why must we carry their shells? It is best for both living and dead that we honor their memories, but we cannot be burdened by them. They wouldn’t want that, right Pharos? I know there’s no way any of our other nakama have faced similar fates, so lets beat those bastards who killed them to the center of the island. Then… then we can have our revenge.”

Mirage was an invaluable asset in progressing through the island. Within 5 minutes, they had already passed through 3 doors, usually with only a few seconds of deliberation each on Mirage’s part. Upon opening the fourth door, they came upon a long path, one that had apparently seen fighting. Mirage and Gillian quickened their pace. After two more doors, they saw a pile of rubble off in the distance. Passing by, they saw a pair of very familiar figures, one tending to the other. Gillian dashed across the sand over to what appeared to be a ruined structure of some sort, and looked down at Davy, lying unconscious on the sand, Erik administering to his wounds. Gillian put a hand on Erik’s shoulder, and he about jumped out of his skin. Turning around at lightning speed, Erik breathed a huge sigh of relief. Composing himself, he spoke. “Gillian-senchou, you nearly scared me to death. How did you get here so fast?” Gillian gave a nod in Mirage’s Direction. “Mirage here is a real whiz at riddles. Never would have made it here without her.” Mirage nodded, rather sheepishly. “I-I Always p-played mind games when I-I Was alone.” Gillian looked down at Davy. “Is he going to be all-right? Those wounds look deep.” Erik nodded. “He’ll be fine. He just needs rest, so I guess we’ll probably have to stay the night here.” Gillian grinned, for the first time in what seemed like ages. He went over to a a grove of palm trees, and grew to 8 feet in height. Several punches brought a pile of trees down to the ground. Hauling them over to where the others were, he proceeded to snap them in half, turning them into kindling. Gillian produced a small survival kit from his coat, containing a spinning compass, a box of matches, and… a small bag of marshmallows. Erik gave him a dead-pan stare, and Mirage poked at the bag, not entirely sure of what they were. “What?” asked Gillian. “What’s the point of making a fire if you can’t cook some marshmallows?” “Surviving, Perhaps?” asked Erik. Putting one hand on his hip, and the other extended into the air, with his index finger pointed to the heavens, and with tears streaming down his eyes, Gillian made his speech. “My Nakama! What is the point of surviving the desperate battle between life and death when there is nothing to look forward to? When you have no repast for the soul, it will shrivel, and you die a hollow man! But, if you partake in food of the soul, then how can you go wrong? YOU! MUST! TRY! THE! MARSHMALLOW!” at each of these words, Gillian struck a different pose. When he was done, a great ray of sunshine struck him, and he struck his favorite pose. Davy stirred, and then uttered some raspy words. “Gillian, you never change.”

Re: ~Angels Help~

The gaping hole of a rifle is not a pleasant sight. It has a power over a man's mind and soul. If you look straight into it, it's as if you've looked into the deepest, darkest abyss in the world. And a wise man once said, that when you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. As abstract as it may sound, this philosophical statement is very true in tge given situation. For a moment, maybe for a split second, the rifle's barrel turns into the mirror of your very soul. Gazing into it tears down every last shell you've put on to protect your consciousness. Naked and helpless, you are given only two options. Either you will run in fear, and be haunted by the image of your own impending doom, or you will arise as a man reborn, free of fear, yet missing a part of your being. You can say it rips away your sanity, but one thing is for sure - no one sees it, and stays unaffected.

As Valencius looked into the "eye" of the musket, not even a muscle moved on his face. He moved even closer, pressing against the rifle with one of his eyes, the other one looking straight at Catherine. The woman felt a cold thrill going down her spine. The man looked as if he was posessed - one eye covered with a rifle - a rifle, for Christ's sake! And he wasn't  even scared! - the other one drilling mercilessly into Christine's eyes, as if piercing a hole in her very soul. This was scaring her out too much. It wasn't logical! - "How can he be so calm?" - She asked herself. - "I can't think clear, I have to end this right now." - She pulled the trigger.

Valencius smiled, when he heared the soud of the flintlock being pulled back, just to return and hit, igniting the powder. He quickly moved to the side, dodging the bullet. Had he been further away from the rifle, it would be impossible, but hearing the trigger being pulled, he knew exactly when to move. The bulet grazed his skin, but inficted no serious damage. He moved his face and stopped directly above Catherine, their noses almost touching. - "I have seen the guts of a rifle too many times to be scared by it. If I was, I wouldn't be worthy of wielding one myself. Now, let's see if this applies to you as well..." - said Valencius, grinning even wider. Well, he was NOT to find out right now, as he was hit square in the groin with Catherine's knee. He squirmed in pain, bending back and holding his crotch wisth his hands. That's when he got hit in the chin with catherine's mustket's butt. He was thrown away and hit the sand with a loud thump. The hit didn't knock him out, but it sure hurt as hell. He crawled back on his feet, only to see Catherine aiming at him from a distance.

Cotez rolled over to the side, barely dodging the shot and picking up his own rifle. He stopped on one of his knees, aimed carefully at Catherine and tried to calm down his breath. He had some time, as his opponent was reloading. When he finally regained proper concentration, it was almost too late. He pulled the trigger. - "Snipe Ace: DISARM!"

The sound of two gunshots teared the air, but their results were at least strange. While Valencius's shot was accurate, and hit Catherine's shoulder, making her drop the musket, the woman's bullet hit Cotez's rifle. The weapon was torn out of the sharpshooter's hands and exploded a few meters behind him. The man didn't even look at it. Instead, he rushed at the confused markswoman, grabbing something on his left shoulder. Valencius tackled the sniper, hitting her with his whole body mass. The two fell to the ground.

Valencius was once again laying on top of Catherine. But this time, it couldn't be considered a pleasure. The woman's eyes were staring blankly into space, and her hands clawing restlessly at his back. At the base of her neck, a small knife held by Valencius was plunged deeply into her throath. He turned it by 90 degrees, and the woman let out her last breath. - "Rogue Knife" - Cotez whispered with a small sigh of resignation. - "It hurts my heart every time I have to kill a woman. Maybe If we met in a different situation, I could take you out to dinner... Ah well..." - He stood up and pulled out the knife. He cleaned it with his coat and sheathed it. After a moment of thought, he also took Catherine's musket. Finally, he turned around and walked away in silence.

Valencius walked up to Irokh, who was laying unconscius on the sand near DD's body. He looked at him and sighed. He grabbed Irokh by the shirt and dragged him along. After a couple of minutes of wandering across the desert, he finally found the doors. He tried to read them, but his sight was too blurred. His arm was dislocated and bleeding heavily, sharpnels from the rifle explosion were buried deep in the flesh on his back, he had a heatstroke and his groin still hurt. - "What a nice day this is." - He said quietly as he fell to the ground, losing consciousness.

Re: ~Angels Help~

Irohk felt himself on the cold desert sand.
"the hell..." He said awaking. Finally getting a grip of himself he sat up quickly. "COTEZ!" He yelled, and found him sprawled face down infront of him. He picked him up making sure not to touch his shoulder wound. He flung him on his back and as he got closer to the door he saw a small destroyed hut. And somewhere near he saw a small but burning fire and figures around it.
"shit! are those more emerald bastards?" He quickened his pace and slowed his breathing. He had to keep quiet to find out who it was. Then he saw someone stick a marshamllow into the air, and someone started speaking. H didnt hear alot but all he had to hear was "gillian"
its them!
He ran towards them but as soon as he ran like this his wounds started to hurt him again. It came all at once, and struck him as he tried to run. "GUYS OV-" he tripped and started coughing blood, Valencius rolled to his left, as Irohk hurled on the right. "AH...." He screamed, the pain was taking his breath, He threw his shield out to try and get the other's attention, he waited in a terrible agony, nothign. Next he flung his sword, but he couldnt see them coming yet. The pain was almost unbearable now, his cheekbones must be mush, the back of his skull must have  crack in it, and his spine must have been injured badly. THen he let out a wail of anguish.
"AUUUUUGGGGHHH" He screamed as the pain split through his cheek, his muscles orund his cheek was having spasms now, slamming into the shattered bones, causing mroe pain. "AUUUUUGGGGHHHH" He screamed even more even though it just caused him more pain. He looked out into the distance and saw his friends running towards him...

Re: ~Angels Help~

The pleasant flavour of the marshmallows was like refreshing medicine for the whole team; Gillian, Erik and Davy were laughing merrily over Gillian’s tales of how he had struck his favourite pose before a Vice-Admiral sometime in the past. Even the normally shy Mirage was doing an effort to hide a happy grin, and the whole situation seemed to have lightened considerably since the fights.
Davy’s laugh, however, was not as true as it looked; last night’s events and the evil fruit he had consumed was no laughing matter. He tried to find the courage to tell them, especially Gillian who he knew had…experience with this particular thing, but he did not dare; he did not dare to tell them what he had become. In fact, during the last hours, Davy had been hungry and restless; he urged for meat, flesh and hunting. This sickening feeling was something he could resist, but for how long? What kind of Devil’s fruit was this? He had no idea, and did not know more of those evil fruits than their name.

Suddenly, four shades appeared in the distance, and Gillian stood up, alarmed, and signalled Erik to stand ready for eventual combat. Davy on the other hand, wouldn’t be of any help, not only because of his injuries, but also the sudden surfacing urge to hunt the newcomers down; he fought the instincts.
Gillian was the first to embrace laughter, and then Erik began grinning widely and finally when Gillian yelled: “Irohk, Kat, Graphite, and Valencius! We’ve been expecting you.” Davy turned towards the incoming party and managed to throw away the taste for meat; Kat was safe and with that, all his worries disappeared for a moment.
Graphite, carrying both Valencius and Irohk, was followed by a slightly tired Kat; Davy smiled out of pure happiness and raised his hand in greeting.

Erik instantly grasped hold of both Valencius and Irohk and spent a few minutes of a check to determine the extent of their injuries, and in the meanwhile Graphite explained how he and Kat had found Irohk and Valencius, who apparently ended up falling through an old shaft. This shaft seemed to be a quick way through, and they had not spent more than an hour or two to get to small camp.
Kat sat down beside the fire, exhausted, and did hardly notice a Davy who was staring at her with a grin; finally, Davy managed to speak with a gentle voice: “Kat, are you okay?”
Kat jumped and stuttered, and when she saw Davy’s injuries, she turned towards him with a slightly concerned face: “I am fine…but you don’t look too good to be honest.”
For everyone’s big surprise, Davy laughed at the little remark, and muttered something like:

“You don’t have an idea…not an idea.”

After a few more of Gillian’s magic marshmallows, and some sharing of experiences, the party decided to spend the night at the hut; Mirage and Kat occupied the inner room (which was now cleaned), while the others took the partly destroyed main room. Graphite fell asleep of pure exhaustion, followed by a tired Erik who had been tending to the injuries. Davy, however, had taken the resolution; he would speak to Gillian about the fruit, he simply had to.
Slightly anxious, Davy stood up and spoke in whisper:

“Gillian…I need some advice…”

Re: ~Angels Help~

Gillian rolled over, and got up, rubbing his tired eyes. He looked at Davy standing there with grim determination on his face, hands at his sides, quivering slightly. “So, what can I help you with?” asked Gillian, stretching. Davy hesitated, and then took a step forward. “I... need some advice about what to do. I’m not honestly sure right now, and I think you may have been in a similar situation at one point. You see, I think… that I possibly ate one of the fruits of the devil.” Gillian strode forward, and put his hands on Davy’s shoulders, and then smiled. “I hope it didn’t taste as bad as mine did.” Davy was taken aback. “How can you possibly take this so lightly? I have no idea what I’m going to do with my life now, now, that I’m cursed!” Gillian sighed. “You were the one who came to ME for advice. Now, if you’d calm down, we can talk to each other like civilized cursed people. Davy sank to his knees, and looked at the ground. “I turned into a monster. What in God’s name is Kat going to think when she finds out? I’m going to be branded a freak by the entire crew. They’ll hate me, I’m sure. And on top of all that, I can’t even protect them. When it truly mattered, I failed them, everyone that I cared about.” Suddenly, he felt himself being dragged out into the open by Gillian The night air was cool, and it felt good on Davy’s face. Then, he was lifted into the air. He struggled, but it was no use. He was thrown 50 feet, and rolled to a stop another 15 feet from where he had fallen. He struggled to his feet. In front of him was Gillian, standing at a massive 10 feet. He charged Davy, who barely dodged the punch that Gillian had thrown at him. “Gillian! What the Hell are you doing? You could have killed me!” Gillian stopped for a moment. “Tonight, we are enemies. You will have to lay your life on the line to win, and I will do the same. If you can’t beat me, you CAN’T. PROTECT. ANYONE, and I won’t endanger the crew by letting you live.

Davy was shocked. He wasn’t able to utter a single word before the next punch hit him. He went flipping across the sandy ground, and hit a tree. Barely rising to his feet, his vision swimming, Davy raised his fists. Gillian sneered at him. “You look pathetic, just standing there, waiting to die. Do something about it, or perish, leaving all you love about this world behind you. Davy wished it would end right then and there. All of him… except for a tiny voice. That tiny voice, was calling out to him, frantically squeaking, telling him to fight back, telling him to live. Davy focused in on the tiny voice, and then the tiny voice became slowly louder. Louder and louder it became, until is was a roaring in Davy’s soul. It became clear to him. He would not die. He would Live, and he would defeat everything that stood before him. He barely felt the sting of arms erupting out from his side, he pain of two new eyes opening, the burning of feet melding into his legs. He let out an unearthly Roar, and let instinct take over. His eyes saw the shock of his target, the man who stood before him, who had been mocking him, the man who would DIE now. His strength was overwhelming, but his instincts knew how to control it. With a single leap, he made it over to where Gillian was standing, paralyzed by shock. Without even thinking, Davy hissed “Swords Dance!” he thrashed out his limbs, now edged like blades, at his prey.

Gillian was in bad shape. Who would have thought that Davy would have eaten an arachnid type zoan fruit, the most dangerous type? It seemed like Davy had lost himself in animalistic rage, a common problem with many first time zoan users. In his current state, Gillian couldn’t hope to take down Davy without killing him. Cursing himself for his actions in provoking Davy’s transformation, his mind raced over the possibilities. If he used his power form, he would most likely crush Davy in a few punches. In size form, he was nowhere near strong enough combat Davy without being killed himself. Davy’s speed was too immense to do anything but… and then an idea stuck him. If Davy was fast, than Gillian had to be faster, much faster. Gillian focused his anger into a single point, and then Cried “RAGE RAGE LIGHTSPEED!” Everything slowed down. Davy looked like he was underwater, slowly charging his way over to Gillian. Gillian dashed past Him, and kicked him from behind. 8 times. In mid flight, Davy was intercepted by a barrage of punches, which sent him careening back the other direction. And then, suddenly, he was out of energy. Gillian slid to a stop. He was done, but he had figured out a way to subdue Davy and a way to beat Riley’s “Soru”.

Davy was barely standing. He hurt all over, and his rage had subsided. He was struggling to even stand still in his transformed state, but he somehow made his way over to Gillian, who was bent double, trying to catch his breath. He tapped Gillian in the shoulder. He turned around, and Davy sucker punched him. Now down on the ground, Gillian looked up at Davy, who had a serene look on his face. “You were wrong, Gillian. I Am strong. I did not lose to you. I CAN protect my Nakama, even if it means being a freak.

Gillian Smiled through the pain. “I’d say this was a good first lesson, Davy. You did well.” Davy stared dumbly at Gillian. “A LESSON?! YOU CALL THAT A LESSON? WE ALMOST KILLED EACH OTHER!” Gillian Laughed, coughing at the same time. “You’ve got a lot to learn about your devil fruit. But I think we mad ea good start tonight. I learned what your ability was, and you learned that you have the power to protect those you care about. I’d say it was a win-win situation.” Davy’s features shrunk back to normal, and he fell back on the sand, laughing.

The next morning, Gillian and Davy were found 10 feet away from each other, both out cold, laying in the sand. Erik administered to their wounds, wondering what exactly had transpired last night. Kat was worried sick about Davy, but said nothing. Irohk and Valencius were both still unconscious, and Graphite just shook his head, and left the whole mess up to whoever cared. The only thing they could all agree on though, was that it was strange that both men had been smiling when they were found.

Re: ~Angels Help~

Exhaustion set in as Erik sank to the ground, his coat wrapped around his body, his medical kit serving as a poor substitute for a pillow. His wounds were nothing more than superficial, the cut across his cheek merely a pale, thin line that was already healing and all but unnoticable for the thin beard that now covered his face. His wounds were nothing more than superficial, but the rest of the crew had suffered injuries of a much more serious nature. Even with Kat's assistance, it had taken most of the night to tend to everyone. As sleep overcame him, Erik thought back to his conversation with Gillian just hours earlier....

"It seems that I definitely have more than my fair share of work ahead of me...." Erik sighed with a smile and adjusted his glasses. Gillian's bandages were now in place. The man stood, stretched his arm cautiously, winced slightly, and then slipped his shirt back in place.
"At least you don't have to worry about ever going unemployed, Erik." The captain smiled broadly and Erik chuckled slightly. "But, I'm a little bit curious," Gillian's face took on a more serious color and he sat back down on the large rock which had been designated 'The Infirmary': "How did your battle turn out? From everything the others had said, as well as my own experience against the captain, these Emerald pirates seemed quite strong."
"It wasn't easy...." Erik looked away, busying himself by replacing his medical supplies in their proper places within his bag. "I won, Wedgie lost."
"That was smart thinking on your part." Gillian stood again and walked over to Erik, who stood and turned, slightly confused.
"Smart thinking...?"
"Exchanging your and Davy's safety for that of your opponent's nakama."
"Yes... I suppose it was.... But it was all that I could do." Erik crouched again, resuming his work and turning his eyes away from his captain.
"Well, I suppose you'll have to watch out for him." Gillian laughed and clapped Erik lightly on the back.
"what...?" Erik's voice was quite and his face paled. If not for the gradually failing light, Gillian would surely have noticed something was wrong.
"Well, we're bound to encounter these pirates again. That's how these things go!" Standing proudly and striking a dramatic pose, Gillian continued. "Why, I'm sure their captain has already vowed his revenge after his ignominious defeat at my hands!" Gillian roared with laughter this time and struck an even more dramatic pose of triumph. Erik was not amused. His heart felt heavy.
"Perhaps you're right...." he sighed more to himself than to Gillian, who was already beginning to imagine his rematch with Riley. After all, he still had to find a way to counter his opponent's incredible speed....

That night was haunted with images of a baleful Wedgie, blood dripping from his face, and the accusing stares of his nakama. Erik awoke feeling more exhausted than the night before.
