Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

I'm having seeking issues with Movies 5 and 6. Everything else works fine, episode wise. Followed your instructions and still no dice. VLC is only having seeking issues with MKV files. AVI files don't seem to have any issue. It also seems to only be MKV files that are longer than 20 minutes or more.

UPDATE: This looks like a VLC bug, it seeks fine in WMP. Too bad Nvidia has a nasty driver bug with the 8800 cards at the moment making WMP useless.

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

lordrockman, check the CRC.

cfmrf, more details. what player are you using? what did you install?
Right now, it seems like you haven't installed the FFDSHOW component of CCCP.

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

use VLC. The latest ffdshow is a bit buggy when dealing with older codecs...

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

Possbily, but since I can't remember what codec movie 1 uses, I'm not sure what codec would be needed to decode it perfectly in a video converter program...

edit: actually, i've gotten it to play with my setup of cccp and mpc... its encoded in xvid. Works with libavcodec.

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

Hey, I've been watching K-F for a while now, and ever since the switch to HD, I've been having lag problems.  The video will lag behind the audio, and then try to catch up by skipping forward.  This particularly shows up in the opening karaoke.  Does anyone have any ideas that will help me fix this problem?

(Note: I'm still using everything I used for the non HD episodes, which worked fine, so I didn't tinker with anything and screw it up)

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

My opinion is that your processor simply can't handle the HD. how old is your computer? my old computer also used to do that =P (celeron 2.4ghz) and it's more noticeable in the karaoke because of the fancy text i think.

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

It could be, my computer was manufactured in 2002.  It's a Dell Inspiron 8500, and I can't remember exactly what kind of processor I have.  Pentium III sounds familiar, but I'm not sure.

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

Processor model:      Mobile Pentium 4-M
Clock speed:     2.4 GHz
not sure if it's enough to play HD. Also, there should be a thread around made for people with older comps, with the episodes reencoded.. but i guess you don't want that.
maybe there's a way to work around it, let other people answer it then =P

offtopic: i like your name

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

It should be enough to play HD. I use core AVC+AC3 filter+media player classic home cinema to play 720p HD MP4/MKV files on my netbook (1.6GHz atom, rubbishy integrated graphics) so I'd imagine you would be able to play them on your comp. Alternatively you can try KMplayer which does a good job, although when I tried it it used its own font for subs rather than the subber's font. Also, if you use the core AVC setup you may need to use some specific configs to ensure smooth playback depending on your comp.

@Ultimate: I guess Ultimate must be the ultimate name wink

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

i guess it should be able to play too.. but i don't know. even with the rubbishy integrated graphics, if it's new it can help decoding video, as dedicated cards do nowadays. new processors are better than the old ones as well, it's a 6-year old computer in his case. my 2.4 ghz also couldn't deal with HD, but that processor really was crappy. that's celeron for you... i'll never buy celeron anymore lol. it could almost play fluently a certain fansubs HD, but K-F probably has more quality than them (didn't watch any of K-Fs recent episodes =$). well, just try Smeek's solution, it's worth a try, really.

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

Hey Smeek, thanks very much for your suggestion.  I didn't do anything related to core AVC or AC3, but simply using the media player you recommended improved things a lot.  Using that media player, the lag was MUCH less noticeable.  Before, the video would lag behind, and then skip entire footage to catch up to the audio.  Now, it might lag very slightly, but the auto-correct simply speeds up in order to catch up, instead of skips ahead.  I rewatched the episode, and there wasn't a skip during the entire thing.  The only lag I noticed was in the opening karaoke, and I think it's because it's fast paced.  During the ending karaoke, which is slower, there was no lag at all.  Thanks again for all your help.  I'm not all that computer savvy, and I didn't get what to do with core AVC and AC3.  Thanks again!

Re: Bob's Troubleshooting Guide (Work In Progress)

Thanks for the guide, I noticed the link to the CRC checker is broken though. I looked around and found a nice one over at sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/rapidcrc/

The nice thing about it is that it auto-detects the CRC in the file name so you don't have to do any copy and pasting.
