Kat lay on a large relatively flat rock gazing at the dark clouds that were slowly drifting towards the crews shelter. She suppressed a shiver thinking about how today was noticeable much colder than the day before and closed her eyes letting her thoughts wonder.
Last night Gillain had made it clear that staying in the same place for too long was a bad idea and that they had to get to the center of the island asap. After all not only do they have ruthless pirates competing with them to get there first, but they now also have a few after them for revenge. Erik of course made it clear that it wasnt safe to move Valencius or Irhok at least until they woke up so Kat had been helping Erik hoping to speed up their recovery as much as possible.
She frowned slightly not being able to suppress her worry for the crew. Other than the badly injured child molester and Irhok she also had Erik to worry about. He obviously hadnt gotten much sleep yesterday and when Kat asked about it he gave her a vague answer and had been subtly avoiding her ever since. Then there was the two who Mirage found beaten up that morning. Davy and Gillain were still fast asleep despite it being way past noon. When Kat asked about it Graphit told her that it was a guy thing and that every man must go through a phase were he must sneak out in the middle of the night to have a battle to the death. Or at least in Davy and Gillains case a battle to being knocked out cold.
Mirage and Graphit had volunteered to go looking for food earlier that day and were taking an unusually long time to get back. Kat hoped they'd at least return before it started raining but the dark clouds that were now directly above her told her that it was unlikely to happen.
With a loud burst of thunder the rain began rushing down. In a matter of seconds Kat was completely soaked, but she didnt care, after all she had more important things to worry about. She just lay there for a few moments before suddenly realizing that the she could no longer feel the rain on her skin. Confused she opened her eyes to see Davy standing next to her, shielding her from the rain with a ridiculously large leaf, his usual cheesy grin on his face.
"You really should try not to catch a cold, Erik has enough work as it is after all." He smiled.
"If youre really concerned about Eriks work load shouldnt you be worrying about getting a cold your self." Kat sat upright and smiled back at Davy who was just as soaked as she was and getting even wetter by shading her with the leaf instead of himself.
"Ah good point." Said Davy sitting down next to her and positioning himself so they could both take shelter under the leaf.
"I thought you were still sleeping." Said Kat feeling glad that he was mostely back to his usual self.
"Who could sleep with that?" Said Davy pointing a short distance away were Valencius and Irhok were sheltered and were Gillain was striking one of his usual poses and were Erik had a finger pressed against his lip trying to get Gillain to keep quiet.
'Ssshh... You're going to wake them up!' Kat could barely hear Eriks voice over the sound of the rain.
'Good! Isnt it great when a wounded soldier wakes up after a battle?!'
Kats smile widened and she could feel the heavy feeling worrying had given her slowly lift. But then Davy watched her expression change into a serious frown.
"Is there something you want to tell me Davy?"
"Wha- What do you mean?"
"I have a weird feeling... Im not sure what it is... but theres something going on isnt there?
"Something like what?"
Davy tried to keep a straight face and prayed that Kat wouldnt notice the shock, worry and fear that he suddenly felt. Kat didnt bother answering and just gave him an intense look that said 'dont bullshit me'. They maintained eye contact for several moments each more stubborn than the other not willing to talk.
"Cheh, fine then." Said Kat standing up and stepping into the rain.
"Oi wait." Said Davy standing up as well and dropping the leaf so he could grab Kats hand with his only hand. She turned and gave him the intense look again urging him to spill it. "I guess youve been worrying alot lately huh?... Listen Kat... I... er... It's..."
"... A man thing." Kat and Davy turned to see Graphit standing behind Davy, one hand holding two bags full of food and the other placed firmly on Davys shoulder.
"Its good that you're finally awake Davy. I need to talk to you." Davy turned to look back at Kat and suddenly realised how tightly he was holding her hand and reluctantly let it go before turning back to Graphit and opening his mouth to tell him that he was in the middle of something. "Now... and alone..." Said Graphit before Davy had a chance to protest.

Davy followed Graphite’s lead to the nearby stone wall which had some interesting symbols written upon the smooth surface of it, and noticed how Graphite’s normally resolute and stern face seemed slightly concerned, something was definitely serious.
Without warning, Davy found himself struggling towards, what he decided to call “his inner monster”, when talking about it with Gillian, and barely managed to push away the idea of entering the state.
Nervously, Davy’s eyes widened and he started grumbling silently in fear of unexpected spies lurking in the nearby bushes: “You…know about it?”
Graphite raised an eyebrow and whispered enquiringly: “Do YOU know…?” Davy sighed with relaxation; his newfound skills had not yet been exposed to Graphite or anyone else except Gillian.
“I think we bumped into someone you kno,-…knew in the past.”
Instantly Davy rolled his eyes and met Graphite’s eyes with a slight mix of curiosity and curtness, certain that Graphite’s encounter had been with Pharos. Though the painful memory of how Davy lost their duel earlier burned inside his heart and mind, he knew that the intensity of the grudge he carried, had actually become somewhat lightened; Davy prayed that he would never again look at the eyes of his former friend, but he did not wish anything bad for him. Therefore, slightly worried that Graphite might have engaged combat with Pharos, and also out of curiosity, he firmly asked: “So, how was he doing?”
Graphite shook his head, confused over Davy’s words, but ignored them:
”We met Meredith, and Kat fought her…”
An instant terror struck Davy and once again he fought towards the instincts to hunt down someone, anyone, and while holding his hand before his hand he spoke:
“Kat met her then…and she knows that it was her?”
Graphite was a little surprised over Davy’s reaction and answered with carefulness in his voice: “No, Kat did not figure it out…but how about you…how do you feel about that?”
Davy turned his face towards where Kat sat, peacefully looking into the distance, and he smiled with such passion that even Graphite had to check again if it was Davy he was looking at. Then, Davy answered curtly: “Meredith belongs to the past…a past I threw away years ago…what is important now, is Kat…” Before he could continue the sentence, Graphite’s look lightened considerably and he laughed cheerily at the young man standing before him and spoke as he started strolling back through the rugged path to their current camp:
“Often, I forget that you’re still quite young Davy…but don’t worry, I won’t tell anything about it to Kat, and I truly hope we never again meet Meredith on our journey's.”
Davy, scratching his head fervently, stood there rather confused for a moment and finally noticed how his “inner monster” had calmed down when he thought of a certain person. There, Davy knew that as long as he was with Kat, he could be able to control it...control his “inner monster”.
But would he be able to protect her smile without his inner monster, and what would she say if he released it in front of her? These issues along with hundreds of other thoughts seemed to infest Davy’s mind, but the only thing he knew at that moment, was that if he stayed with Kat, he had the resolution to keep the beast within himself.
Suddenly, Kat, who was on her way to check what Davy was up to, yelled and pointed her finger towards the open area which could not be more than two or three levels above where they were standing now; for a split second she had been able to see a large door embroidered with gold and silver.
Davy swiftly recovered and listened to Kat’s sighting, and was eventually joined by Gillian who struck an epic pose before proudly announcing:
“Let’s move with haste. We seem to be very close the middle of the island!”

The crew stood silently in front of the mysterious door that had appeared moments before. Despite Eriks protests Gillain had carried Irhok and asked Graphit to carry Valencius all the way there, but now that they were standing right in front of the door there were no buttons to be found and no riddle nearby. The rain was falling much heavier now and even with the combined effort of the whole crew the door wouldn't open no matter how much they pushed.
'...Lets go back to the shelter. This door wont budge and Valencius and Irhok haven't fully recovered anyway.' Said Erik with a concerned look.
'Im sorry Erik I'll accept full responsibility for whatever happens to these two, but at the moment we cant just go back. This isnt just a walk to the centre of the island anymore, the pirates that are after us arent a laughing matter. Staying here any longer will only put the whole crew in danger.' Said Gillain.
'Besides, giant doors embroidered with gold and silver don't just appear out of no where for no reason.' Frowned Davy tapping the door with his foot.
'Er... Hey, does anyone else smell that?' Muttered Graphit behind them.
'... N-now that you mentioned it its sort of like rotting old socks.' Said Mirage making a face.
'You know what they say about the first one who smells it...' Said Kat giving Graphit a sharp accusing look. Everyone fell silent again and all eyes darted towards Graphit.
'IT WASNT ME!!!!' He yelled turning red. But they werent looking at him but rather at a skinny figure behind him.
'Isnt that-' Exclaimed Gillain pointing at the woman that had appeared.
'The corpse!!!' Yelled Graphit dropping Valencius with a loud thump.
'Aaah my nose!' yelled Valencius who had woken up from pain caused by being dropped face first onto the ground.
'She's not a corpse...' Muttered Gillain completely ignoring Valencius 'The fact that shes here proves that shes the riddle angel after all.'
'Seriously my nose! Its bleeding.' Valencius continued.
'M-Maybe we should ask miss corpse about the door.' Said Mirage not even glancing at Valencius.
'Huh?' Said Kat looking at Davy who just shrugged back at her.
'Shes the one who told us the rules of the island when we first landed.' Said Erik walking up to the old woman.
'What are you doing here?'
'Master has been watching for eternity. Master has been waiting for eternity. Master thinks that Master has finally found you.' The blank expressionless look on her face hadnt changed at all as she spoke over the sound of the rain. 'Master has sent me to challenge you. A challenge that will either allow you to skip 50 doors or force you to leave the island and not get a second chance to come back. Do you accept the challenge?'
'Wait! What kind of challenge? Cant you tell us anything else?' Asked Erik, but it was no use. Once she says what she has to say she switches off.
'Accept it.' Said Kat.
'We cant just accept it... we have no idea what the challenge is. If we loose the all we've been through since we got to this island will have been for nothing-' Said Graphit.
'B-but if we cant even answer a simple challenge, theres no way we can answer the final riddle anyway.' Said Mirage.
'Accept it.' Said Kat again. 'We can answer it. I'm sure we can.'
'Well...?' Said Erik as everyone turned to face the captain. 'What should we do?'

Gillian looked around at the rest of the crew. "Accepted," he said.
The 'corpse lady' spoke again. "Fine. Your challenge is this. It will be a riddle, but far more difficult than any you have faced before. You will each have a chance to answer it. However, none of you may speak during the challenge, except when you give your answer. You will have a maximum of twenty minutes to think on the riddle; once that time is up, you will each give your answers in a specific order, from the one who has gotten the least riddles correct, up to the one who has gotten the most riddles correct. Once everyone has stated their answer, I will confirm the correct answer if it was spoken. The challenge is begun when I state the riddle."
The crew nodded.
"Pay attention, the riddle is not short, and definitely not quick."
Again, the crew nodded.
"On a street there are five houses, painted five different colors. In each house lives a person of different race. These five homeowners each drink a different kind of beverage, smoke different brand of cigar and keep a different pet. Your challenge is to find who owns the fish.
"To answer this riddle, you will be given fifteen clues:
"One. The Marine lives in a red house.
"Two. The Pirate keeps dogs as pets.
"Three. The Giant drinks tea.
"Four. The Green house is next to, and on the left of the White house.
"Five. The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
"Six. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
"Seven. The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
"Eight. The man living in the center house drinks milk.
"Nine. The Swordsman lives in the first house.
"Ten. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
"Eleven. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
"Twelve. The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
"Thirteen. The Merman smokes Prince.
"Fourteen. The Swordsman lives next to the blue house.
"And finally, fifteen: the Blends smoker lives next to the one who drinks water."
The woman paused and stared at the crew, most of whom were scratching their heads. "Your twenty minutes begin... now." The woman stopped, and the room fell silent.
For the next fifteen minutes, the room was in complete silence, save for the sound of footsteps echoing as a few of the crew paced the floor, and scratches of pens and pencils on paper.
The lady spoke again. "Five minutes left."
The crewmembers who were walking back and forth quickened their pace, as if it would accelerate their thoughts and logic skills.
"One minute."
All eyes fell on the woman as she uttered her next words. "Time. First up, Kat."
The crew's eyes shifted to the young sorceress. She stepped forwards nervously. "Um... I don't know..." Kat said and fell silent.
"Very well. Graphit."
The pencil man moved forwards as Kat stepped back. "The Giant."
The 'corpse' said nothing, and motioned for Davy to come forward.
"Same, the Giant," Davy answered, glad that he wasn't the only one with that answer.
The woman pointed at Erik.
"I believe the answer is the Pirate," Erik said.
Irohk shrugged when it was his turn. "I have no idea."
Valencius paused. "I guess I'll say the Pirate."
Gillian's turn. He quickly strode forward and struck a heroic pose. I say the Giant!" he said loudly and confidently.
He's just going with the most popula answer... Mirage thought as she quietly moved forwards. "None of the previous answers. The answer is the Merman, who lives in the green house, drinks coffee, smokes Prince, and owns the fish," Mirage said, for once not stuttering.
The expressionless woman stared at the group before her. "The girl is correct, the Merman has the fish. You may now skip fifty doors, and will be that much closer to the center of the island." Upon finishing this sentence, the woman vanished and the massive stone door began to slide open.

Through the stone door, the crew vanished, following a vigorous Gillian who held a torch he had found at their last camp. Behind him, Erik tried to figure both why he had chosen a wrong answer earlier, and how many doors they still had to pass; skipping fifty doors could be a preposterous joke, or a huge aid in their journey, depending on the total amount of doors they were forced to pass before coming to the end.
Luckily, the injured members of the crew were regaining their spirits and health, and it felt like their battles were several weeks away. Even Davy, who had been down after his battle, seemed to have regained his resolution and spirit, as the crew followed an ancient path through the tunnels of a ruin. Davy was thinking of yesterday’s lesson, and how he had managed to control his inner monster quite well; though still not comfortable with his newfound powers, Davy was starting to understand the possibilities which he could exploit if trying hard enough. Such strength…such power, he was set upon testing his skills on a real enemy when the time would come. Still, he would not reveal it to the rest of the crew, except Gillian who understood what the whole concept meant, and he hoped to find some peaceful time to train his skills after they came to the end of this island. Most of all, he wanted to try that trick...
After increasing their pace somewhat, the crew arrived another door with a riddle and two buttons; another riddle appeared in shining letters before them:
“The man who invented it doesn't want it. The man who bought it doesn't need it. The man who needs it doesn't know it. What is it?”
Valencius smirked and began to laugh, even before having a look at the answers:
“Did those fools run out of ideas?! Obviously, it’s women!”
Kat and Mirage sighed simultaneously, stopping Valencius’ laugh of victory quite abruptly, and then he continued:
“Well…God didn’t have a wife…and the man who bought it…errr…well, he doesn’t need it, you see. And finally, the man who needs it, never knows he needs a woman!”
Graphite and Erik sighed this time, making Valencius fall on his legs, and yelling:
“Come ON, just check the freakin’ answers!”
Gillian carefully removed the surface of dust upon the answers, and read the small letters: “Air” and “Coffin”
This time, Irohk, Gillian and Davy sighed loudly, making Valencius increase his voice even more:
“What the HELL. I didn’t even say anything this time! Give me a break!”
They all laughed, and were surprised by the sound of the door opening; Mirage was a professional when it came to riddles, and she was their lucky trump card when it came to the island. Gillian struck a pose and beckoned them to continue.
Davy was surprised, after being ignorant and having his mind on other things, how they had already passed 15 doors; Mirage was truly their sharpest weapon when it came to this game. The unspoken question which everyone was thinking of, however, was what they would meet at the end of the maze. Kat thought, judging from her past days at the island, that there couldn’t possibly be anything good waiting.

"What are we going to do once we reach the center of the island...?" Everyone else paused in mid-step and turned to look at Erik, who stood some several paces behind the rest.
"We're going to solve the last riddle, of course." Gillian smiled triumphantly.
"Then...?" Erik wasn't smiling.
"What do you mean then?" Valencious was more than a little perturbed. "Then we get the treasure!"
"I-I understand...." Though little more than a whisper, Mirage's words were clearly heard by all.
"None of this has been a coincidence." Irohk frowned, looking at their surroundings with new suspicion.
"Exactly...." Removing his glasses, Erik began cleaning them, more out of habit and...perhaps nervousness, than actual purpose. "Setting aside the very nature of our meeting one another, that messenger made it clear enough that someone ... this 'master' ... is expecting our presence at the center of the island."
"And none of us have actually thought to ask 'why?' yet." Kat glared at a nearby rock for lack of anything else at which to glare.
"Thus far, everything has been designed to keep us off balance, keep us from taking the time to ask the questions that any one placed in a similar situation would logically begin to ask...." Returning his glasses to their place, Erik continued.
"Mirage...." Gillian turned to look at the young girl as if he had never seen her before. She began looking around nervously, confused and uncertain.
"Exactly, Gillian Senchou." Erik smiled at Mirage as reassuringly as possible. "She is our trump card. But not only that," Erik paused for a second, "that whole skipping fifty doors business cannot be a normal part of how this works...."
"S-something wants [i]us[/u] to r-reach the center of the island." Mirage spoke clearly without the smallest hint of doubt in her voice. It was a statement of fact.
"That's the only conclusion I can reach." Erik sat down on the ground. "The question is how does this knowledge change our goals?"

Kat kicked a small stone in front of her then shifted her weight from one leg to the other, exhaling loudly. Dark rain clouds blocked out most of the suns warmth from above, barely allowing any sunlight to penetrate through. It had been four days since they skipped the 50 doors. The distance between the doors was gradually increasing and the riddles were becoming noticeably much more difficult. It had taken them almost half a day to find the last door and even then it has been 2 hours since they started working on the riddle which even Mirage seemed to have a little difficulty with. Five of the group were huddled up near an enormous tree that had the riddle engraved on it murmuring loudly to one another, while Kat and Graphite stood waiting nearby with the mostely recovered Irhok between them to ensure what happened at the first doors on he island wouldn't happen again.
"Alright, I think we all finally agree that the answer is red right?" Said Erik standing up.
"Yah yah, lets just get this over and done wi-" Began Valencius reaching our for the green button, but stopped when he saw Gillain standing in front of the door.
"Before we go on I just want to say something." He said with concerned look on his face and a slight frown. "I have no idea what we'll find beyond this door. So far all we've done is blindly followed and believed what a talking dog and a corp- *cough* *cough* and a mysterious woman have told us. Maybe there is no angel behind this door. Maybe the there is no crimson key or gem. Like Erik said a few days ago, someones wants us to reach the centre of the island and we're about to find out whether that person is a friend or foe the hard way. So lets work together so we come out of this in one piece." Said Gillain the look of concern completely replaced with a serious one.
"Captain..." Said Mirage nearby as everyone turned to face him.
"And our first step of teamwork is for all of us to press the final button at the same time!" Yelled Gillain striking his 'finger pointing to the sky' pose and grinning like a mad man.
Silence...
"Bahahahaha!" Laughed Irhok not being able to hold it in.
"And to think her was this close to being cool..." Muttered Graphit.
"I knew it... this really is a gay crew..." Said Valencious staring at Gillain.
"Thanks Valencious." Said Gillain changing his pose to another one of his favourites.
"I dont think he meant it as a compliment" Laughed Davy with tears in his eyes.
"Well then lets do it!" Said Kat holding an open palm right in front of the green button and smiling sheepishly.
"See that's what I wanted to hear." Said Gillain placing his hand above hers.
"Lets just go already!" Said Graphit clapping his hand on Gillians.
"Hahahaha...." Said Irhok as put his hand in too, still laughing.
"Oh god, are you guys serious?" Said Valencious looking left and right as if hoping no one he knew would see him standing there. "So embarrassing... huh?! Wait! Not you too!" He stared as Mirage and Davy joined the others then turned to smile back at him.
"Hurry up you two." Said Kat grinning at him and Erik.
Valencious turned to look at Erik, apparently the only other sane person in the group, but Erik just sighed loudly and smiled back at the girl before walking up to the group and placing his hands on the others.
Valencious stared at the group of seven before him, standing in the rain with their hands together and grinning like idiots. "This is so damn gay..." He said annoyed finally giving in and pressing his hand hard against Eriks so the group of hands pressed against the green button and the door finally began to slide open.

The door slid open, the eerie creaking was the only thing that disturbed the silence. When it fully opened it revealed a small hall way, at the other end, another door.
The crew stood there for several minutes until Gillian spoke up.
"INTO THE HALLWAY!" He exclaimed striking a pose.
"Beyond that door...is the center of this island?" Said Irohk cautiously.
"I hope so" replied Erik, as they all began walking into the little hallway.
When they reached the door, they saw a small wooden handle.
Gillian reached out and grabbed the little handle, "Same thing?"
Everyone else put their hands onto the handle, and pressed it down, it made a click sound, and they heard more locks and bolts getting unclicked. THen the door creaked open.
"good effect" Said Valencius
The door slid open quietly and slowly, and the first thing they saw, was blinding light, and an angel.

It took her breath away.
In the middle of the island was an enormous oak tree bigger than any of the other trees on the island. Its thick ancient branches twisted and turned in all directions and its red and golden leaves slowly floated down to earth dancing playfully in the soft breeze. Rays of light shone down on the tree like a spotlight from heaven, reflecting on the raindrops on the oak making them sparkle. The beauty was indescribable and for a split second Kat held her breath. She could no longer feel the rain or hear its soft patter. As a matter of fact she could no longer hear anything aside from the light crunching sounds the crews feet made as they stepped over the fallen leaves. All the sounds of the animals, the rain... even the whistling of the wind all disappeared instantly. And that was not all. Kat looked up at the sky and noticed for the first time that the rain hadn’t stopped but was now falling in slow motion just like the falling leaves. The dark rain clouds continued to block out the sun from everything except the tree. They just twirled around it menacingly leaving a small opening only were the oak tree penetrated the clouds.
“Wow…” Davys whisper echoed behind her.
“Wow what? Where’s that the damn angel.” Muttered Valencious apparently still annoyed he had to join the group bonding earlier.
“Right in front of you…”
Everyone turned to face the tree.
Silence.
“Ah… w-what did you say captain?” Asked Mirage, knowing what his answer would be.
“That wasn’t me.” He said eying the great oak.
“Ahem. It was me.”
Silence.
“Holy Shi… did the tree just?” Said Graphit not willing to complete his sentence incase he really was going insane.
“Holy excretion indeed Graphit.” Said Gillian, eyes buldging.
“Like hell. I told you already. Angels. Are. Hot.” Said Valencious looking left and right and half expecting someone to pop up from behind something screaming ‘surprise’.
“If you don’t like this appearance I suppose I can change.”
And with that the tree began to glow brighter and brighter until the point were Kat could no longer keep her eyes open. Eventually the light began to fade away, and by the time Kat opened her eyes again what was standing in place of the tree was even more breath taking. A man stood with short hair as brown as the oaks bark and golden eyes that sparkled like the oaks leaves. He appeared to be in his early teens and wore a black suit without a tie, and a loose brown untucked shirt underneath.
“Better?” He asked with a smile that could melt ice.
“Aha” Said Kat as Mirage and her nodded ferociously and blushed.
“So this is an angel.” Said Erik noticing Davys expression and smiling at his obvious reaction.
*Cough* “Lets get this over with shall we.” Muttered Davy giving the angel a cold look.
“No wait before that, we have a few questions.” Said Gillain.
“Why not. I have nothing else booked in my schedule between now and eternity after all. I’ll answer one question.” Although the angel was smiling there was a bit of resentment in his voice.
“Err.. ok then.” Said Gillain looking at Erik.
“Why did you help us skip 50 doors?” Asked Erik.
“Why?” Smiled the riddle angel. “Do you have any idea how long I’ve been here? 4 thousands years. And in those 4 thousand years barely 50 or so ships have made it to this isolated island that no log pose points to. In those 4 thousand years I’ve watched crews split up and divide and never find their way back to their nakama. I’ve watched people go round and round in circles alone for year after year, some went crazy, some even killed themselves. But now, for the first time in 4 thousand years I see a crew that even after splitting into four groups, and even after having each group answer a different number of wrong answers and even after ending up on opposite sides of the island… somehow manage to end up back together within a few days. So why did I let you skip 50 doors? Well, it’s because you’re either insanely lucky to have overcome the chances of one over 6 billion 42 million 103 thousand and 42 of finding each other again, or you had the helping hand of an angel.”
“Well neither is true so maybe you should’ve left ‘em there.” Everyone turned around to Meano yawning behind them being held by the ‘corpse’.
“M-meano? How’d you get here?” Asked Graphit.
“I found the riddle angels jinn in a hut on the beach and asked her to bring me here.” Said Meano.
“Put that filthy thing down.” Said the riddle angel instructing his jinn aka the corpse with a suddenly dark expression on his face. “You have some nerve showing your face here, after so many years what the hell is your master up to?”
Offline
“Isn’t it obvious?” Said Meano as he was put down. “It’s about time you and the others were set free isn’t it.” The riddle angels expression went darker.
“Don’t bullshit me Meano. That isn’t something to be joking about.”
“I’m serious. You noticed it too didn’t you? These guys making it here had nothing to do with luck nor her or anyone else’s help and you knew that. You let them skip those 50 doors because the crimson key was calling out to them right? You let them skip because you immediately recognized them as possible keepers.” The riddle angel said nothing at first and just stared intently at the group of 8 before him.
“Keepers huh… seems like she never learns. These guys wont live through the night much less be able to collect all 7 keys.” The angel’s voice was cold and lifeless and he slowly walked towards the crew as he spoke. By the time he finished his last sentence he was standing in front of Kat with one hand wrapped firmly around her neck. Kat was too shocked to even scream as he choked her with one strong arm and lifted her a few feet off the ground. “Meano, I’m going to show your master just how futile trying to grasp the impossible is and send her keepers straight to hell.”
“Oi Kat!” Yelled Davy but his voice was drowned out by a sudden clasp of thunder. Without any warning the island seemed to jump back to life. All the sounds that had gone silent a few moments before were now loud and clear, strong gusts of wind blew in all directions and the rain started falling hard and fast.
“Do what you want.” Said Meano without even the slightest hesitation.
“Meano…!”Said Irhok staring at the dog in shock.
“I-I can’t breathe… W-why can’t we move?” Stuttered Mirage. All it took was one look from the riddle angel and the rest of the crew were on the floor gasping for air as well. All, that is, except Erik.
“Don’t underestimate the strength of an angel.” Yawed Meano.
“Ok then let the final riddle begin…” Smirked the riddle angel squeezing Kats neck tighter and looking at Erik with cold eyes.
“Let them go.” Said Erik through gritted teeth. His whole body felt heavy and refused to move.
“Is he the one?” Said the angel, pointing at Erik with his free hand and ignoring his words.
“Yes.” Said the ‘corpse’ with an expressionless face.
“Let them go.” Repeated Erik, but that was all he could do as he watched the rest of his crewmates struggle for air.
“Oh? If you want them to survive so much then I’ll let you save them.” Said the angel, and with the dark smirk still on his face he reached into his own pocket and pulled out a weapon Erik recognized.
“My gun… How did-” Stared Erik.
“For the final riddle I will give you two options just like all the other ones. Kill or don’t Kill.” Said the riddle angel now aiming the gun at Kats face. “Of course there is a catch. If you don’t shoot you will have to watch all your crewmates choke to death including her. If you do shoot you get the gem and you and the rest of your crew can live happily ever after the burial for all I care. It’s your choice.” Said the angel. He then turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the head twice. The bullets had absolutely no effect on the angel. “In case you get any crazy ideas of using the last bullet in that gun on me, you should know that I’ll count it as a forfeit and kill everyone including you.” And with that he threw the gun back at Erik.
Erik didn’t even reach out to catch the gun and just let it fall on the ground right by his feet. Kat had already lost consciousness and her bottom lip was starting to turn blue. She wasn’t going to survive if he didn’t do something soon. Behind him the rest of the crew were also slowly falling unconscious. Erik knew they wouldn’t survive much more of this either but he just couldn’t bring himself to look back at them. He knew if he did they would tell him not to harm Kat, but in the end of the day he didn’t have much of a choice. Even if he didn’t shoot her she would die anyway. He told himself to calm down and think about the situation logically, but no matter how he looked at it the logical thing to do was to save 6 instead of watching all 7 die. His mind was sure there wasn’t any other way and yet…
He bent down to pick up the gun and held it in his shaking hands. He looked up and noticed the ‘corpse’ out of the corner of his eyes. ”think with your heart…” His mind drifted back to the first time he saw her and he remembered her words.
“Back then you told me to think with my heart. I didn’t understand at the time, but I think I understand now.” Said Erik finally gripping the gun tightly in his hand, and pointing it at Kat. “My heart… my heart wants me to save as many of my nakama as I can. Captain, Graphit, Mirage, Valencous, Irhok, Davy and… Kat. I truly am sorry…”
.BAM.
Graphit was the first to wake up.
“Oi Captain, for the love of god please try to control your snoring!!” He yelled out annoyed.
“You’re the loud one you idiot! Stupid pencil head woke me up.” Said Valancious nearby.
*SNORE*
“Hey Captain wake up already…” Said Irhok in a sleepy voice.
One by one they all awoke on the sand right in front of were the ship was docked.
“I’m glad you all seem to be doing well.” All eyes turned to face Erik who had been waiting for them to wakeup.
“E-Erik…” Said Davy staring at the doctor in front of his as the memories of the moments right before he passed out suddenly came rushing back. “You didn’t… YOU BASTARD!” Without hesitating Davy dashed forward and struck Erik, who didn’t even try to defend himself, in the face with a blow powerful enough to knock him of his feet.
“My my, is that any way to treat the person who saved your sorry asses?” Came Meanos voice from behind.
“DON’T…” Davy started to yell but went quiet as soon as turned to look at Meano and saw Kats body lying next to him and the riddle angel standing right by her. He turned to look at Erik again who said in an exhausted voice.
“She’s just sleeping.”
“What the hell happened?” Asked Graphit completely confused.
“He answered the riddle correctly.” Smiled the riddle angel. “The two options I gave him were to kill or not to kill, but I never said who it was he was supposed to kill.”
“S-so he turned the gun on himself.” Said Mirage as the memory of Erik pointing the gun at himself after apologizing to the crew, finally came back to her.
“Wait… why was the doc’s suicide attempt the right answer to the riddle?” Asked Valencious.
“This whole island and the final riddle were all designed to protect the crimson key, otherwise known as the key of rectitude, until the keys rightful keeper came along.
Rectitude 義:
"The ability to make correct decisions from the heart, rather than from the mind."
Erik is first in 4 thousand years to answer my final riddle.” Said the riddle angel. “Apologize to her for me Meano. I still don’t see how it’s possible for these guys to collect all 7 keys, but maybe… just maybe…” The riddle angel smiled and looked at the exhausted, beaten up, confused crew in front of him. “Thank you for setting me free. Now that I don’t have any obligations to guard the key anymore I can finally leave this place. Good luck on your journey. You’re going to need it.” And with that his body slowly started turning into autumn leaves and drifted away in the wind.

Irohk stood dazed, confused and absolutely dumbfounded.
"WHAt...the...HELL just happened!?" Said Irohk.
"It's pretty obvious isnt it?" Said Davy
"Not with a brain like his!" Laughed Valencius as he poked Irohk's head.
As the dog finished its conversation with the angel, it started to float up into the air, and vanashed.
In Erik's hand was a key. It was a golden key with an intwined heart at the top, like vines coiling around a tree, a ruby was in the center of the vines.
Then Mirage spoke up, "what now?"
Gillian struck the 'finger to the air' pose and said, "WE LEAVE!"

Offline
"Before we leave, Gillian Senchou," The captain paused, turning to face Erik, who was still on the ground, arms stretched behind him. "We have a crew member who needs attention...." Erik smiled and nodded in the direction of Kat's slumbering body. Davy was at her side, keenly desiring and trying rather awkwardly to carry her in his arms. Gillian smiled broadly, much as a father might, and wiped a little tear from the corner of his eyes. Valencious rolled his eyes and coughed.
"Here, let me help for once, Davy." Graphit walked over and, as carefully as he could, lifted Kat in his arms. The young girl's hand moved to Graphite's shoulder and her head nuzzled against his chest. "Oh geez...." the pencil warrior grumbled. "Maybe you should take her.... You could just throw her over your shoulder, I suppose." Smirking, Davy turned his attention toward Erik.
"Listen, I'm...." Erik grasped the younger man's outstretched hand and pulled himself to his feet.
"Don't." Erik smiled his usual reassuring smile. "None of us knew exactly what was going on. If our roles had been reversed, I'm sure I would have had a similar reaction...." Davy smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head as Erik brushed the dirt from his coat.
"S-seven keepers.... and seven k-keys...." Mirage broke the moment of silence.
"And there's seven of us." Interjected Irohk as Gillian nodded.
"Hey, wait a second!" Valencious pushed his way into the center of the group. "There's eight of us."
"Does that mean that you're a part of our gay pirate crew?" Grinning, Irohk poked a finger at the roguish sniper's chest.
"Wait, wait, no, I...." He stammered without effect, unable to voice any further rebuttal as Gilliam
n clapped him strongly on the back.
"I knew you'd come around, lad!" Gillian laughed loud and proud, while Valencious merely looked ill.
"Valencious is wrong, though." All eyes turned to Erik, though his gaze was focused on the golden key, as he carefully strung it along side his silver locket.
"What do you mean?"
"Mirage had it right." Erik raised his eyes to meet Mirage's, who nodded in understanding. "Seven keepers for seven keys. There were originally seven of us...."
"One for each key?" Interrupted Graphit, earning another set of nods from Erik and Mirage.
"Each of us was chosen for a purpose. But Valencious is just along for the ride; he has no ... preordained role in any of this."
"So what are you...!" Valencious stepped forward, his tone of voice offended.
"Wait, please." Erik held up his hands. "That being said, you're the unknown in this whole equation. And I think that makes your role in all of this as important as any of ours." Valencious smiled with self-satisfaction and stepped back.
"So he's like an extra player on our team?" inquired Davy.
"Better than that!" Gillian chimed in, once again clapping Valencious on the back, "He's our secret weapon!"
Everyone was more than a little surprised.

- "Secret weapon, eh?" - said Valencius with a smug little smile. - "I like the sound of that."
- "Oi. I may have been the one to say it, but don't be so full of yourself." - replied Gillian - "Though, the fact remains - whatever you will have in store for someone, or something that put us all together, will be a big surprise."
- "Speaking of weapons, my old rifle got wasted. I took the enemy's gun, but it has no scope, and I'm running low on ammo." - said Cotez.
- "Yeah. That, and we're running out of supplies. We've got food for ten days at best." - Davy pointed out.
- "We have to stock up on medicaments, too. Contrary to popular belief, band-aids can't heal everything. We've got to buy some antibiotics to prevent infections and get some medicines for any diseases we may encounter on new islands.
- "Okay. It's a given, that we need to do some shopping, make some repairs, upgrades and let the injured recover. We all need a break too, don't we?" - asked Gillian. Everyone nodded in approval. - "All right. As the captain of this crew, I declare that we will stop at the first inhabited island and restock. There are many reasons to do that, and all of them are important, but the one that will convince you to agree to that wholeheartedly is the fact, that we've run out of MARSHMALLOWS!!!" - the captain shouted out, tears of sorrow overflowing in his eyes. - "Yeah, yeah, just get on the ship already, before you make us look even more gay that anyone can possibly imagine." - Valencius grabbed Gillian by his sleeve, and dragged him aboard. Everyone sighed at the sight of Gillian still mourning over the lack of marshmallows, but all have followed him onto the ship.

Davy embraced the mast of the ship, leaning onto it in a fierce emotional outburst of affection and delight; they were finally back at the ship, and Davy felt no restrictions as he so tenderly hugged it. Valencius, who was still attempting to jump abroad, noticed the rather disgusting scene and remarked with a laugh:
“You’re doing that on purpose! That’s exactly the reason for why they are going to call us the gay-pirates if we ever return…to something.” Davy ignored it at first, but ended up bursting in a melancholic laughter which appeared as soon as he actually imagined the crew arriving some random harbour with a huge sign, welcoming the heroes: “Welcome back, GAY-PIRATES!” Erik and Gillian nodded in silent agreement; Davy must have become mentally ill during their adventures at the island.
”At least no one would ever challenge a crew with such a name to Davy’s back fight…hah!” Davy answered, and managed to climb up again by supporting himself with his hand; he turned towards the ocean. The vastness of the blue sea was somewhat welcoming and pleasant, and would definitely be a huge change to the barren landscape of the Island of Riddles. Though the aching memories of defeat and loss resurfaced, Davy had through the latest days learned to accept them; other thoughts filled his mind.
Suddenly, Graphite was standing beside him, also observing the sea with keen eyes, and spoke to Davy with a quite optimistic and reassured voice: “If you regret our defeat, it cannot become a guide and motivator to your future fights, which would be unfortunate,” Davy tried to interject a word of denial, but Graphite continued, forming a slight grin which made him look like someone who had much hope: “You should remember this defeat and become stronger…much stronger. Only you can do that....” Davy was slightly dazzled by the short speech, but decided to remain in silence; the pencil warrior was quite something; that much had become certain throughout the battles and difficulties the crew had encountered. Finally, after much consideration, Davy was sure about it…he would try to develop that technique further, and by doing that, he would become stronger.
Davy stammered as the ship left dock, noiselessly strolling through the silent waters of the coast; the sight of Riddle Island brought a variety of emotions into each and one of the crew members, and as they all watched the sight of the island wane into the distance, they all mutely agreed on two things; they had all learned something from the mysterious island, and they truly hoped they would never return.
The melancholic moment was brutally interrupted by a rumbling sound which sounded like a volcano erupting somewhere close; on a second look, Irohk grinned and held his stomach in a tight grip: “I need food…and alcohol…very soon!” adding to the comical relief, Irohk fell down on the ground and closed his eyes.
Davy swiftly disappeared from deck and found his way into the hallway near the cabins; in the shadow of the staircase, Davy found his fourth alcohol storage, and gathered the bottles of sake which seemed most refreshing; today was worth of sharing at least one of his storages. Sprinting back to the kitchen, Davy filled his lungs with air, and for the first time in several days, he let out a happy yell: “Time to celebrate our return!”

Kat slowly drifted into consciousness but kept her eyes shut.
She was having a great dream and didn't want to fully wake up. She was finally in the kitchen of her cosy home again. Her younger brother was playing football in the house as usual, her grandmother was standing in front a steaming cauldron with her usual disappointed face. It was a beautiful day. Spell books were spread across the dining table and on the very top of the books her most recent test with the letter F in a bold red felt across it. She took a deep breath and inhaled the rich scent of herbs and spices that the kitchen always smelled of then sat down on her favourite seet to eat strawberries with Davy.
Finally... she was home again.
Kat closed her eyes tighter and smiled. She felt warm and sleepy under the blanket but the only thing keeping her awake was the powerful swaying of the ship.
...
The ship.
...
Kat shot up awake and looked around wildly trying to figure out were she was. The memories of the island, the riddles and the angels came back to her one by one and a few seconds later she finally calmed down recognising the room she was in as the one designated as the infirmary on the angels ship. She looked to her left and saw Erik sleeping peacefully on a chair right by her bed, mouth partly open and hands in his pockets. She smiled again and whispered so as not to wake him up : "thank you doc.". She wasn't sure how but somehow they had made it past the riddle angel. She wasn't surprised though, with these guys she felt safe and even as the angel held her she knew they would find a way to save her.
Kat was now fully awake and thought back to her dream. It had been so realistic that it brought tears to her eyes thinking about what life used to be like and what it can never return to. Her grandmother, her brother, her home and... Davy? She pulled on her shoes which were by the bed then walked to the exit wondering what he was doing in such a dream.
Outside It was really late and the ship was dead quiet. As she walked on the deck she saw signs of the celebration she had missed. By the looks of it the crew really had some fun and she was shocked she was able to see through it. Then she saw him.
Davy was exhausted and quite drunk. He wasnt sure how many bottles he had had but he promised himself that this would be the last one before he would run off to wake Gillain up. He leaned off the edge of the ship and looked out at the sea. Then he pulled the bottle of sake to his mouth and got ready to take another sip when he heard a voice behind him.
"You really shouldnt drink so much of that stuff you know..." Said Kat giving him a concerned look.
"K-Kat!" Said Davy nervously. If she had come 10 or 15 minutes later she wouldve walked in on a battle between a a giant spider and a giant midget. I guess having one last bottle before waking the captain was a good idea after all. he thought turning to face her. "I... er... just had a sip or two..." Kat looked down at the pile of bottles at his feet then back at him. "or maybe maybe it was a little more." He said kicking the bottles aside.
"I'm serious." Said Kat trying to keep a straight face, but with the nervous smile on Davys attempted innocent face she couldnt help but smile back.
"I'm glad you're finally awake. You look like you had a good rest." Said Davy changing the subject.
"Yah... I had an interesting dream." Said Kat leaning over the edge of the ship next to Davy so that they were now both looking out at surface of the ocean which reflected the infinite number of stars in the sky and sparkled like a field of diamonds.
"Really? What about?"
"About some people that were really special to me in the past and..." Said Kat, remembering the image of Davy sitting in her kitchen. "Someone thats special to me now." The last words escaped her lips without her realising it. She blushed surprised that she had said such a thing.
"Someone special huh." Said Davy.

Irohk awoke, maybe to the the noise of bottles, or the cold wind, but he awoke. He was right at the front of the ship. He looked out front and he saw something. He rubbed his eyes.
And it was still there.
"...CAPTAIN!" He yelled.
____________________________________
"Caaaptain!" Came a voice.
Kat startled turned around to see Irohk running forward, as the rest started to come out of the cabin.
"What is it stupid swordsman?" Said Valencius, obviously grumpy.
"An iceburg" He replied
"WHAT?" Said Davy, "That's impossible, we had only just left an island, theres no way we could get to an iceburg! We had only been sailing for 8 hours or so.
"Well it's no ordinary iceburg" Irohk said. "Its 10 times larger than the ship."

Offline
-"Now just what the hell is that supposed to be?" - Valencius said - "The whole thing is ridiculous! How did it appear out of nowhere like that"
-"Yes, that is most unusual..." - Erik replied - "This mountain is ridiculously large. Usually only a small part on an Iceberg is seen above the surface and the rest is hidden underneath. But this one... It would have to be bigger than any mountain I've ever heard of."
-"'Nuff said, but putting science aside, why doesn't it melt when it's so hot around here? We're still near a tropical island after all!"
The whole crew stood on deck and watched the iceberg. Suddenly, Gillian's face expressed a huge surprise. He took out his Obligatory Captain's Spyglass and pointed it at the ice mountain. - "That's strange. I thought I really saw it, but... Nah, It's impossible." - he said to himself. Mirage turned to face the rest of the crew. - "Have you heard that?" - "Heard what?" - asked Graphit with a puzzled look on his face. - "Yeah, I think I hear it too." - Kat joined the conversation. - "Like a strange, hissing noise."
Suddenly, a loud thump was heard, and a huge amount of steam escaped from the surface of the iceberg with a loud hiss. Cracks appeared on it's surface, but they were way too regular to be natural. The cracks widened, and the whole middle section of the iceberg opened, as well as small window-like holes below it. The hissing stopped. The inside of the iceberg looked strange. There was a wooden floor inside it, looking almost like a ship's deck. - "Just what the hell have you seen through the spyglass, captain?" - asked Irokh - "It's ridiculous, but it looked like... a pirate's flag!" - Gillian tried to say, but his words were lost in a series of explosions, as cannons rolled out of the small windows and started firing at his ship.

The familiar smell and sound of gunpowder being fired off filled Davy’s nostrils and echoed in his ears, and though he tried to scout for Kat’s location, he was thrown off by a shockwave created by a cannonball which slightly missed its target. Horrified, Davy took hold of his blade and cleared his view to once again scout for Kat.
There was nothing. The whole scenery was filled with thick smoke which made it impossible to figure out who the people around him were; only an occasional battle yell would reveal the person behind, and Davy was quite sure he had heard Gillian, Erik and Irohk fighting off enemies nearby. For indeed had several enemies breached the defense of the ship and continued to advance through the smoke and chaos. A distinct voice broke through the sounds of battle: “Board the ship, Deepwater-Pirates!” The yell was answered with a “Captain Deepwater! Deepwater-sama!” This suddenly grew into a full-fledged song which seemed to increase the morale of the pirates; though Davy could not see the others, he noticed the increase of speed of the silhouettes behind the smoke.
‘Where can she be?’ Davy’s mind was set upon finding Kat and finally finishing their conversation from earlier. In fact, he felt that their whole relationship would be determined by whether he managed to reach her with his words or not. Swiftly, Davy made his way towards the mast, dodging several fists and swords which were aimed at him, and even lost his sunglasses when he had to stoop from a sudden swing. Fearlessly – it seemed, at least, – Davy sprinted forth to the open area and started observing the deck. At the front of the ship, very near the edge of the upper level of the deck, Kat leapt away from one of the pirates. Instantly, after having observed the scene, Davy made another huge effort to narrowly avoid another sword aimed it him; it seemed as if the powers of the fruit were already affecting his instincts, and he was not sure if he could hold off the lust much longer.
Another minute of struggle finally cleared a path for Davy and though he felt a wound open up by a stray hit, he managed to reach his destination.
Kat seemed to have battled with the immensely large man in front of her and Davy, and welcomed Davy’s aid with a smile. Wearing a t-shirt slightly too small and baggy jeans, the man seemed like a normal pirate in all but the size; soon enough, Davy noticed the weapon he carried, and immediately knew that he would have to use…his skills. For the pirate was holding a hammer of immense stature, and it enough, proved the inhuman strength which hid within the muscles.
”I never had the chance to tell you my part of the “someone special” conversation we had earlier,”
Davy said, and avoided direct eye contact with Kat. A smile appeared on his face. A serious smile:
“You see, I also have someone I look upon as special to me…someone who I met not long ago. Let me finish this battle, alone, and I will reveal who it is.”
Davy was both amused and completely serious at the same time, and though Kat noticed the hint in his voice, she did not blush, neither did she say anything. To her, it seemed as if the battle was important to Davy, and she would let him fight it. However, before Davy charged towards the giant of a man, he whispered into her ear: “And please…don’t be scared of my new…power.” Although confused, Kat did not move from the spot.
The huge man barked at Davy’s challenge, and like a ruffian, he spoke with a ragged voice to meet the confrontation:
“Muahahaha! Midget against Giant…give me a real challenge, okey? You’re not worthy to fight the first mate of the Deepwater pirates, Shallow Reef!”
Davy ignored the threat, and the idiotic name, and concentrated to the obvious irritation of the first mate; in a matter of seconds, Shallow charged his hammer towards Davy, and was about to crush him when it happened.
Shallow had noticed a force beyond his comprehension holding the hammer from reaching the little man standing on the floor, and no matter how much he tried to strengthen his grip, he could not end the attack. After gazing beneath the shadow of his hammer, Shallow was shocked; yellow eyes, a pair of large teeth and a hairy face was grinning at him, almost as if ready to feast upon the flesh of his prey.
The advance of the hammer had been halted by several spider limbs. Something which seemed like a combination between a spider and a man stood steadily, holding back the brute force of the first mate. The scene seemed unbelievable to the onlookers.
In a matter of seconds, Davy used a combination of 3 limbs to shake away Shallow and his hammer, and the echoing sound of the impact of Shallow hitting deck was much louder than the gunpowder being fired off. Another impact was made by Davy, who captured his prey, using all his limbs to make an impenetrable prison of legs to keep his enemy within his grasp. Davy’s training had certainly been useful. He controlled his limbs without problem now; he would have to thank Gillian for the patience later.
Shallow had panicked as soon as his attack was repelled. Never before had a normal human been able to stop his mighty hammer, nor had he ever fought such a creature. Therefore, when Davy closed his teeth up to Shallow, he wildly swung the hammer around to inflict any kind of damage, but it was done in vain. The spider was thrown a few feet back, but proved his agile skills by leaping through the air and using the momentum to strike towards Shallows stomach. That’s when everything went black, and just before the end, Shallow saw the pool of blood gathering around his stomach.
Luckily for everyone around, Davy, who had succumbed into his predator instincts, put his eyes upon Kat. He sensed fear in her eyes, and managed to snap out of his hybrid form; he had gone too far, he knew it, and could not remember whether the kill was necessary or done out of pure sadistic motives. Terrified, he turned towards Kat, and truly hoped she had not seen the brutal killing in the chaos which had surrounded Davy’s fight.

Having been awoken from a not unpleasant dream involving a quiet library and a mug of freshly made hot chocolate, Erik frowned, eyes still shut, and listened for whatever it was that had awoken him.
Captain!!!
The cry came again, recognizable as Irohk. Erik allowed himself the luxury of keeping his eyes closed for several more seconds before sitting up. Rubbing his stubbornly stiff neck, he sighed: I really need to find a better place to sleep than the nearest chair.... Looking around the room, he saw that Kat's bed was empty and made. The sight brought a smile to his face: You're really starting to grow attached to everyone, aren't you...? Shaking his head with an odd, almost rueful smile, Erik opened the door and stepped on deck.
Things had quickly gone from bad to worse when the ersatz iceburg opened fire on the Angel's ship. Without a moment to think, the crew acted to defend each themselves, almost naturally complementing each others strengths while at the same time compensating for each others weaknesses. With Gilliam and Irohk taking the point, Erik and Valencious, the latter having climbed the mast and now holed-up in the crow's nest, provided cover for their crewmates' backs and flanks. Every now and then, Erik could make out what seemed to be one of their enemies disable another of the invading pirates with a swift blow to neck, solarplexis, or some other vital area.
"Did anyone see where Davy ran off to?" Yelled a 10-foot tall Gillian as he slammed a pirate face first into the deck.
"Kat was at the the other end of the ship!" Irohk deflected an oncoming swordblow and retaliated with a quick slash to the mid-section. "I'm guessing that's where Davy is!" Looking around, the young swordsman engaged a particularly devious-looking pirate who was trying to get close to Erik; the young doctor taking the time to reload after having just shot a man who had managed to sneak behind the captain.
"So that just leaves Graphite unaccoun...."
"PENCIL-TWISTER!!!" A small group of pirates sailed into the air approximately a dozen yards away from the three men, all clutching at rather nasty looking gashes and stab wounds. However, they were immediately replaced by twice as many opponents, and all that could be seen was the occassional flash of a yellow and eraser pink.
"This is no good...." Gillian snarled, jumping backward to dodge a swordblow before literally booting the offender off the ship. "We have to do something or we'll be overrun." Erik and Irohk nodded in agreement, the two men now pressed back-to-back. Striking a dramatic pose, Gillian shouted at the top of his lungs, causing the Deep-Water pirates to pause momentarily, "WE NEED TO TAKE THE FIGHT TO THEM!!!"
Offline
Graphit sleeping at the back of the ship when he was woken up by the sound of a shouting man, he recognized Irohk's voice and simply rolled over and went back to sleep, after all the partying earlier he didn't feel like getting up because of whatever Irohk was shouting about.
A few minutes later he was awakened again, this by the sound of explosions and clanking of swords.
"Crap! I'm missing a battle!" he said to himself, he then jumped up to his feet, and ran towards the direction from where the sounds of battle were heard. Within a few seconds he reached the battle and was immediately surrounded by a dozen pirates. The pirates all attacked Graphit at once, but he easily dodged their clumsy attacks and responded with his own.
"PENCIL TWISTER"
Every one seemed to have a hard time with the sheer amount of pirates that kept on coming from the giant iceberg ship when the fight was interrupted by a shout
"WE NEED TO TAKE THE FIGHT TO THEM!!!"
The great shout suspended the fight momentarily, and when it resumed Graphit had an idea. He shook off a small group of pirates that were attacking him and started to run towards Gillian.
"Gillian! Have you ever thrown a shuriken" he asked him. Gillian looked at him in confusion, but when he saw the smile on Graphit's face he smiled back in understanding. Graphit dodged a group of pirate by doing a series of cartwheel maneuvers, in succession, he then jumped high in the air towards Gillian, over the head of another group of pirates, his arms and legs straightened and spinning wildly. Gillian who was now at least twelve or thirteen feet tall, grabbed Graphit's leg in mid air and while spinning once to gain momentum, they both shouted together
"GILLIAN GRAPHIT! GIANT SHURIKEN!"
Graphit was thrown towards the iceberg, spinning in insane speed cutting down everything that was in his path. He zoomed right past the iceberg's main mast and cut it down as well, but then he was violently stopped by a giant man who grabbed Graphit's leg while he was spinning and smashed him into the icebergs deck leaving a large crack at the iceberg's wooden floor.

A drop of sweat trickled down Davys face. His eyes were locked on Kats and he was breathing heavily. He took step forward and she took a quick step back.
"K-Kat." he whispered.
"No..." She said shaking her head. Her heart was beating wildly and tears were filling her eyes. "no." She said again.
"Its me..." He said taking a few more steps closer. "I'm still-"
"No." She said louder this time. It was all she could say, and she knew if she tried to say anything else she'd end up screaming.
"Ok, I know it's a big shock, a-and I know you'll need some time to-" He talked as he walked up to her slowly and by the time he got to his last words he put his hand on her shoulder.
"NO!" She screamed and slapped the man in front of her. She tried to take a few more steps back but ended up tripping on her robe and falling down backwards onto the deck. She could feel the edge of the ship behind her and knew there was no where to run. She looked up at the person in front of her but the eyes looking back at her were no longer human. The dark, hungry eyes of a hunter had paralyzed her with fear. She couldn't even scream as he kneeled down in front of her so that they were face to face then leaned in closer so that she could feel his icy breath on her face. A tear ran down her face.
"I wasn't done talking." He slammed his fist on the edge of the ship behind Kat with a ferocious force, barely missing her face. Around them the pirates that had just been staring at the scene earlier finally got over the initial shock and where closing in on the two from all sides taking advantage of the fact that Davy was completely focused on someone else. They all rushed forward but Davy didnt even twitch. He was still completely in his human form except for his insect eyes which were burning into Kat's. The pirates got closer, they raised their weapons, then mercilessly they all struck at the same time. But the fist that collided with Davy's head didnt belong to any of them. The force was enough to throw Davy several feet away and right through one of the ships masts. When the smoke cleared Kat looked up at the giant before her, and the kanji for Rage on his marine coat.
"You all right?" At the sound of Gillains voice she finally let the flood of tears she'd been holding in go.

Valencius and Erik stayed on top of the mast, taking cover in the crow's nest and sniping out the Deepwater Pirates. Despite the fact that Valencius' new rifle stayed unscoped, and Erik was shooting from short pistols, man after man fell as they restlessly thinned out the apparently unending numbers of the attackers. As they struggled to shoot and reload, shoot and reload so fast, that they fingers felt like they were about to engulf in flames, they heard a loud thump. The whole mast wobbled, and Erik almost fell off.
-"Did you hear that?" - Erik asked, crawling back into the safety of the crow's nest.
-"Hear what? Unless you're just asking stupid questions and mean only the thing that almost smashed the base of our mast? It must've been a stray cannonball."
-"No, that too, but there was something else. Like someone was whistling. Strange... it made me feel hungry for maple syrup."
-"You must be kidding... though... I felt something like a fresh, pine-scented breeze right now"
They both stared at each other, probably thinking which one of them made the most stupid, out of place comment possible, when they heard a second thump. The hit came strong, shattering the wood, tearing apart boards. As the whole mast started falling down, someone shouted with a strong voice, reminding of fresh air, the freedom of vast forests, and other things completely unfitting a clearly pirate scenery. He shouted: "TIMMMMMMMMMBEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRR!!!"
The mast fell down and hit the iceberg-ship's deck. Valencius fell off the crow's nest right after the hit and was falling to his apparent demise, but his coat got stuck in a huge splinter pointing from the bottom part of the mast, about two meters above the ground. He slipped out of the sleeves and jumped down on the deck. What he saw, was the cause of the huge damage done to their ship. The man, who did this... was a lumberjack. He wore blue overalls, a red, checkered flannel shirt with rolled up sleeves, heavy brown boots and a stereotypical lumberjack hat. He was a giant - over 2,5 meters tall, with an axe of appropriate proportions in his hand. Valencius expressed his feelings - a mix of surprise, annoyance and trauma-level out-of-place kind of shock with a sentence considered an unofficial motto of his crew: "What the..."
-"UOOOOOH! My name is Pine Deepwood! The shipwright of Deepwater-sama's crew, and a proud bearer of the same name as our captain!
-"You don't have the same..."
-"SHUT UP! Ignorant! I am overflowing with joy to share even one kanji with the name of our great leader. - The lumberjack shouted, tears flowing out of his eyes like two powerful rivers. - "Now, you will be cut down like a young tree, falling to the might of my axe!" - He started yodeling, and raised his weapon.
Valencius moved fast. Faster than before. His senses more cunning, his reflex sharper, his arms more precise. -"ROUGE KNIFE!" - his dagger bit into the Deepwood's leg. The giant fell to his knees, thrown out of balance and overweighted by his huge axe. - "HOW?" - yelled the man of the forest. - "You're a shooter, nothing but a dirty trickster! How could you hurt me?" - Valencius grinned - "I am no shooter. I'm an assassin. And when you're dancing with death, you can only learn..." - the lumberjack tried to stand back on his feet, but Cotez was faster. He took his rifle. and rotated it in his hands. - "SNIPE ACE: CRIPPLE! and DISARM!" - two consecutive shots wounded Pine's other leg and his right arm, forcing him back on his knees and throwing his axe out of his hands. - "...adapt..." - He held his rifle in both hands in front of his enemy and quickly turned it, hitting his foe in the jaw. -"BUTTSLAP" - Deepwood's neck was completely unguarded. - "...and survive!" - He turned his rifle once again, pressing the muzzle against Pine's throat. - "SNIPE ACE UNORTHODOX: HEADSHOT!"

“You all right?” Gillian said to Kat, who had started crying uncontrollably. He put a gigantic hand on Kat’s shoulder, and then turned to Davy. “Davy, I know you didn’t mean to do that, but still you did it. I think needs a little time by herself. I think you should probably help out whoever needs it. And no more transformations for today, that would make things even worse, got it?” He turned away for a moment, and then put on his trademark goofy grin. “Well, I’m off. I suppose I’ll have to take on this ‘Captain Deepwater’ fellow. Wish me luck!” With that, Gillian took a leap off of the crew’s ship and landed on the deck of the iceberg, with a resounding thud that tipped the berg slightly.
Gillian hit the floor rolling, and when he came up, he saw that he was surrounded by the enemy. “For Capt’n Deepwater!” they chanted, banging their weapons against the deck. “I’ve no time for you guys! cried Gillian, raising both fists into the air. He slammed them down, knocking everyone on the deck off-balance. Running through the crowd, he finally came face to face with the now infamous captain Deepwater.
Standing before Gillian was 40 feet worth of Merman. The creature frankly terrified Gillian, who’d never seen a merman like this even in the marine manuals. “FNAFNAFNAFNAFNA!” Laughed the creature, in a deep guttural voice. “I am Captain Deepwater, and you shall tremble before my might, for I am A ‘Colossal Squid’ Merman, noblest and largest of all the merman species! Feel my tentacle-y wrath! Most of his crew grimaced at the last remark, as did Gillian. “What? What did I say that was so cringe worthy, even by my own crew? Out with it I say, out with it!” One brave crew member stepped forward, climbed up captain Deepwater, and whispered into his ear. “Oh. Mm-hmm. I see. Of course. Yes. Yes. Ah, splendid.” The pirate shimmied down from his perch, and rejoined his crew members. Captain deepwater sucked in a great breath, and then let out a bellow. “MY CREW TELLS ME THAT I’M BEING PERVERTED! I FAIL TO SEE HOW, BUT THAT IS BESIDE THE POINT! I APOLOGIZE! Gillian blinked once or twice. “Apology accepted!” Gillian replied, smiling. “HOWEVER!” Gillian was nearly blown off of his feet by this bellow, “I CANNOT EXCUSE THE ATTACK OF OUR SHIP! YOU WILL BE ENDED HERE, BEFORE THE TENTACLE-Y MIGHT OF CAPTAIN DEEPWATER!” Everyone groaned, including Gillian. “WHAT? WHAT DID I SAY? WHAT DID I SAAAAAAAYYYY-“Before the Gigantic Captain could finish his cry, Gillian had delivered a powerful punch to his chest. Deepwater stumbled back, taking in a great gasp of air. “YOU WILL PAY FOR THAT!” Roared the indignant Captain, lashing out with his “Tentacle-y might”. Gillian barely dodged out of the way, tentacles landing and smashing the deck where he had just been to splinters. “I think it’s a bout time I started to beat you.” Said Gillian, taking off his marine coat, and throwing back to the deck of the Angel’s ship. “RAGE RAGE LIGHTSPEED!” called Gillian, channeling his anger into pure speed. He felt everything slow down to a crawl… everything but himself. He dashed across the deck, avoiding the now slow-moving tentacles of Deepwater, until he finally reached The Captain. Without missing a beat, he jumped onto one of the tentacles and ran across its slippery surface. One Gillian got to his face, it was just a matter of ending it. A rapid volley of japs and kicks, and then Gillian returned to normal speed. The combination send Deepwater flying across the deck… and into the sea. By the time Gillian had realized his mistake, it was too late. A tentacle came lashing out of the water, catching Gillian in the chest. He felt a lancing pain, and then a ripping sensation as the tentacle’s hook came ripping out of his chest. He hit the deck hard, blood splattering. He knew he was hurt bad, and that he was probably done for if he got hit again. To his horror, he found that he couldn’t move. He looked down at his torso, and saw another tentacle pinning him to the ground. Was this it? Had all of his journey been for nothing, just to for it to end like this? Was he just going to lay there and DIE? He REFUSED! HE WOULD NOT DIE DITTING DOWN LIKEA COWARD! HE WOULD FIGHT TO THE BITTER END! With the fires of rage rekindled, Gillian grabbed the tentacle that was pinning him down, and proceeded to cut it half with his bare hands. Only… his hands weren’t bare anymore. Two bright red beams about a foot long each were projecting from his hands. They had sliced through the squidflesh like a hot knife through butter… before Gillian could comprehend what they were, they disappeared.
“I’d say it’s about time to beat you, for good this time” Said Gillian, striking a truly epic pose.

Malak stood staring at the dark clouds dancing in the sky above with a gloomy face.
"Did you come here to gloat?"
"About what? They found the key of rectitude, -ot past everything Riddle threw at them and most importantly every sin-le one of them survived." Said Gabe almost reluctantly. "To find a crew like that... I could almost con-ratulate you yah."
"Oh cut it out Gabe. Why dont you just say it? Even after I made sure they were on the island at the same time as that Emerald crew they still only managed to get one key. A crew that would pass on an opportunity of getting two keys in one go is a real disappointment. I wonder if they even realised that the key of respect was right in their face the whole time-" Malak sighed loudly, then took her eyes off the clouds above to look at Gabe.
"Well yah, in their defence they had no idea what they were lookin- for. As a matter of fact they still have no idea what they're in for yah." Said Gabe.
"Ignorance is no excuse, besides at the moment the less they know the better." Grumbled Malak. "At least Riddles finally free. Its 4000 years too late, but its the least I can do."
"Don't make this about repentance Malak. That day... we all knew what we were doin-. We all decided our own fates knowing full well what the consequences would be. You dont owe anybody an apolo-y. Remember that yah."
"Still, its about time I set things right. Hopefully this crew will be strong enough to help me do it. I'm not so sure anymore after their disappointing performance on Riddle Islan-"
"What do you mean disappointin-? I told you already its waaaaay beyond anyone's expectations."
"Why are you suddenly defending them? Do you have to disagree with everything I say?"
"I dont disa-ree with everythin- you say. Why do you complain about everythin-?"
"I do not..."

Irohk had somehow made it onto the boat., when he heard a large cry.
"RETREAT!" Said a gruffy voice
" RIGHT AWAY DEEPWATER-SAMA!" came a chorus of voices.
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?" Yelled Irohk as he ran as fast as possible back to the back of the deck. And then he saw that their ship was already too far away to get to. Then the Iceburg casing closed in on him.
"....no way" He whimpered, "there is no WAY!" Then two pirates rounded the corner.
"THERE IS STILL ONE OF THEM ON HERE!" Yelled one, and then 20 more came around.
Jaw completely dropping, Irohk Ran as fast as he could until he fell into a random hole. Yes...a hole...then landing on a very pointy thing.
When he got up, he saw he landed on his crewmate Graphit.
He smacked him across the face a couple of times, "OI GRAPHIT!" He said as he heard more pirates coming.
"Nani?" Replied the pencil warrior.
"How are you on here?" He asked
"I was thrown by Gillian-shenshou why?"
"We... are stowaways" Said Irohk trying to word it right.
A puzzled look cam across his face, then a very very grim one.
"Don't tell me..." He said
"We..are....stuck on this ship... and we are already too far from the others." Irohk continued
Graphit's jaw dropped..."
"
"I know... O.O"
Then around the corner came 50 or more pirates, surrounding them.
"Looks like we will have to fight our way out" Irohk said unseathing his sword and taking his Shield from his back.
"Looks like we do" Said Graphit.
PENCIL TWISTER! Graphit attacking to the right.
SHIELD BASH COMBO SWORD Irohk Said as he spun around bashing his opponents with his shield to gain momentum, and using his sword to take out 5 in one attack.
Bouncing off the side of the ship walls attacking their way back to the middle. Graphit coming in first like an arrow.
"Ready for a combo attack Irohk?"
"Sure am" Replied Irohk as he put his shield and sword back, as he grabbed Graphit's legs and went around using him like a large pencil/hammer
PENCIL BASH
"MATTE MATTE MATTE!!!!!!!, I NEVER AGREED TO THIS!" SCreamed Graphit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
On the ship.
" look kat.. wait..." Said Davy
" NO WAY!" Interupted Eric
"What is it now?" Said Gillian comign back.
"Not only have they retreated but.. ever since Irohk and Graphit got on...we haven't really seen them right?" Said Eric
"Come to think of it...." Replied Gillian
" Uhh..." Said Eric
Davy turned around. "You guys... coould they be?"
" STILL ON THAT ICEBURG?" Screamed Gillian and Eric together...
