Re: Liar Game

Finally. It's about time we got a new chapter and I'm glad I finally know what minority rule really means.  This is very interesting, and unlike the last game, I see no real cheap way out of it. I'll be very interested into seeing how Akiyama works things so people join the majority.

And I'm interested in seeing how that other guy who was at the dinner table will work. It's quite obvious that he'll be the one to really beat in this.

Also, like I said before, I want to see Nau descend.

That sounds like great news and all, but where is it out?

It doesn't seem to be posted on One Manga.

Re: Liar Game

Nice, thanks.

Well, we learned a bit about some of the competitors but they don't mean anything. Most of this was fodder except for one thing, that guy that was Eating with Akiyama was also looking at the crowd observing. Everything that Nau did was window dressing. That one scene once again put that mystery man at the top of the competitors list for me. He'll be the one that we'll see in the final parts of this round. I'm also intrigued to see if that extra rule, that if the organization was found being in any way dishonest that the one to reveal it would get 10 million yen, will be used and by which one of the 3. At some point, Nau has to become a little bit more crafty and wise up to things. Not so much lose her innocence, but be able to take advantage of an opportunity rather than play the victim.

Re: Liar Game

I didn't like this chapter much. I think it would have been fine if they moves right into the next round.

But, oh well.

That wouldn't work that well, because they were given time before the actual round for a reason. In the previous chapter when the "spokesman" said that the one to make best use of his time would win the game, didn't mean the time after the question was asked and the round began, but the overall time(since they got there).

Re: Liar Game

It was a good chapter, but you can already tell that someone on the team is going to betray them/is Mr X.

Re: Liar Game

I can see the traitor Mr. X being Makihara Yuki the housewife or Matsubara Fumio, the manager. They both could be Mr. X in disguise. The others I think are legit, but I've got nothing to prove this so we'll just have to see.

All in all, good chapter, nice way to see how they plan things out, but there's always still human greed that'll come into play.

I also noticed that our little Nau has learned to lie.

Re: Liar Game

Oh, I had an alternate idea.

Barring whoever is Mr. X, the person who survives to the last round will be Nao, and she will have to pay the whole million/2 million to stop being advance to a third round, which she just shared with everyone due to the agreement.

Re: Liar Game

I finally got around to reading all the chapters that are out, and I have to say it's getting kind of boring and stupid. This is only interesting as an examination of human psychology, and for the current game it fails miserably as such. First of all they are assembling a team that just wins through odds; nothing psychological. Second of all, the whole "Mr. X" business is stupid, because there would have to be significant plot and character development surrounding all the members of the team before the reader can be informed enough to be able to suspect anyone. At this point it's basically blind guessing or blatant leading by the author, and we will derive no satisfaction from it if it's either too obvious or too random.

In short what I'm saying is, there's no way the dynamic of what's to come will be interesting or engaging, unless the next chapter completely changes gears and pace, both of which could make it suck in other aspects.

Oh, and am I the only one who found the whole explanation of how the formation of a team is a sure win COMPLETELY RETARDED? He goes through this long complicated description that's full of shit to explain what takes one sentence: Each round the votes will split half and half, so that unquestionably someone from the team will make it to the end. Why the hell do you need like 20 pages to explain that? I mean ok, I guess you might want to add in a second sentence to explain that the team has enough members to make it to the end. But that's it... I think it's a blunder and shows the author's over-analysis.

i fink the explanation was for the benefit of the kids sitting at home... or misdirection. *shrug* who knows. all the manga chapters have been sorta disappointing this week.

Keep in mind he was talking to Nao. She's kinda, on the slow side. I found it normal for him to go through the explanation thoroughly.

Re: Liar Game

That's true now that you mention it, but I wonder if such a painstakingly detailed account wouldn't just confuse her stupid ass more than reassure her. That's another problem. At first Nao's naiveness was amusing, but it's gotten really irritating. Her being so dumb and desperate all the time is so annoying.

Re: Liar Game

While there may be arguments to what is actually happening to the characters, personally I like the idea of this game alot more than the first one.

The first one wasn't as psychological, at least not as obviously so. It was just steal your opponents cash; hide your own. Sure, knowing that your money is targeted for theft while taking money that is being gaurded leads to some psychological situations, I still like the second game better.

However, the way the characters have this second game planned out dosn't sit well. They just eliminated any thinking about the actual questions they had to do, so there no longer is any meaning (for them) to have questions to answer.

I believe that was his goal. Just like before, he never reveals all his cards to her even though they're partners. What he wants to achieve, I can't tell, but for some reason I think the whole thing about a lady getting robbed outside and him helping seems like a big lie to me. After all since the beginning I had the feeling that every person Nao would trust would deceive her. We'll see.

Btw I'll throw this in just in case it gets revealed in the next chapter: I'm guessing Akiyama is Mr X. (young man)

It does seem that every one of Nao's friends end up betraying her, but for some reason I just want to believe in Akiyama.

where does it say that?  You're saying that after they return the jewel to the corporation, they must pay an additional 100 million?  I don't remember reading that.  Look at page 210 of the first volume.  The leader says "Unsuccessful challengers will be asked to leave when they lose" and "If a player loses, they lose their 100 million.  They will return it to us before they leave the premises."  This is confusing.
