05:42 - Chopper has used Kokutei Cross before (namely, against the Skypeia priest Gedatsu in episode 172). However, it was given a translation of "Split-Hoof Cross," and I strongly feel that it would be more appropriate (and clear) to write "Cutting Hoof-Cross," as he is forming his hooves into a cross and cutting into the opponent.
09:11 - This is Luffy's first Gear Third! I hope you guys like our start-up effect for it.
10:05 - Yep, Chimney called him chibi. Chibi Luffy! I felt better translating it as "tiny," even if "chibi" is widely understood.
14:22 - This attack is Franky Triagle Jacker. Don't ask me what "jacker" means -- in this context it seems like Engrish, unless I'm missing something. The only sensible definition, from Wiktionary, says it refers to someone "who hunts at night using a jacklight," but it's archaic.
15:17 - Jugon, 獣厳, has a meaning of approximately "unforgiving beast." The "unforgiving" part could be substituted with any number of similar words and still be acceptable, such as "harsh," but "Unforgiving Beast" has a nice ring.
16:17 - Franky and Fukurou are having a nice name-calling contest here, insulting each other's punches. I would like to point out that my translation of their insults is far from literal. I tried to make the name-calling feel natural instead of random silly insults that I'd get from a direct translation of their slang. At any rate, Fukurou slips up and says "pantsu" (panties) instead of "panchi" (punches). At this point it turns into a clothes name-calling bout. Silly, yes.
16:36 - This last word Franky uses, "fundoshi," can be translated as "loincloth," but it can also refer to a sort of thong worn by men.
17:24 - The "three realms of existence" thing is a Buddhist concept. It is NOT the same as the three worlds Zoro refers to in his attacks, "sanze" (三世), which makes most of his numbers multiples of 3 and 36. Those are the three temporal worlds (past, present, and future). This is "sangai" (三界), which refers to the realm of desire-driven beings, the realm of beings with form, and the realm of beings without form.
17:53 - This is referring to the amount of time it took Chopper to complain that he had been called a gorilla.
18:51 - As I mentioned when the character was introduced, "fukurou" is the word for "owl" in addition to being used as a name. Here Fukurou uses Fukuro-dataki (yes without the "u"), 梟叩き, meaning "Owl Strike."

At 19:46, does Franky say "Fresh"?

Yeah I think that's the intention. I think he was starting to say "Franky" but it sort of fizzled into "fresh."

Looks pretty good, but could you hold on the completed text for an extra second or so before it vanishes? The "pop" after the text formed makes it hard to read since it comes out the instant the text finished. I mean compare that to Franky's and the CP9s' effects and how they stay on the screen for a bit after finishing.

Is that why it didn't get a caption?
Can't wait for the next two episodes. Some of my favorites of all the fights. ![]()
