This is when we find out the shield spell did work but the force of the blast destroyed the island except the part their on and pushed it to the bottom of the sea.

Wait... what? I don't see any resemblance to what just happened in Fairy Tail to anything in One Piece... Unless you're talking about the time skip, in which case, he's not ripping off One Piece, it's simply a shonen manga cliche that he happened to use. I do agree that I didn't see any point to this entire thing, though. Hopefully there will be...
Not the time sikp, per se, but the feeling of hopelessness he tried to induce before the timeskip so we'd feel like it was necessary for them to get stronger before continuing whatever it is they're trying to accomplish. Actually, I kinda forget what my point was since I posted that since my computer was down for a second. I think when I read it I felt like the entire part lacked any originality sort of like he was doing that simply because it was, as you pointed out, a typical shounen cliche.

Honestly I don't see Fairy Tail ending any time soon...Mashima left this plot twist completely wide open (which is dramatically different from the typical cliche routine the manga has followed for 3 or so years). Originally I was thinking Mashima actually killed off all of his main characters but that little girl has me thinking otherwise. If anything she's probably the polar opposite of Zeref and took a liking to the unity of Fairy Tail. Whether they are in some other dimension or some other crazy twist, it would be idiotic to kill off years of character development. Moreover the ties to dragons runs deep with the current cast (the dragon slayers, the date of Lucy's mother passing away, etc.) so even if this new arc focuses on what the dragons are doing there are still many questions to be answered.

Well, new chapter's out. Fairy Tail's turned to shit over the past seven years (the guild itself, not the manga). Just when things are at their lowest, Blue Pegasus arrive and procclaim that the Island is not destroyed.
I kinda had a feeling that the boy would be Romeo. But it looks like we won't get a chance to see the lesser members shine. Things went downhill when Fairy Tail's strongest were taken away. I can't tell if they're simply going to bring Natsu and his friends back straight away or if they're going to have to do some things first.
Either way, I'm not crazy about this surprise timeskip.

the way he set this up just felt a bit weird, i actually kinda think that there are 2 ways this could play out. either this will be the last major arc for fairy tale, i mean we've met zeref and the black dragon, he might start answering the big mysteries in there. or this'll actually be a temporary timeskip, where bringing the island and the main characters back will open up the possibility for time travel, where after some kind of big event that ends with the world facing destruction they send the main characters back to where they came from so they can take part in whatever secret battles were going on in the missing 7 years to change the outcome and save the world. i know, sounds stupid, but that's was part of the plot of rave master so you can't say he wouldn't do it.

SO Mavis huh... that was quite a surprise to who it was.

Ahhhhh...hmm, well now I hope there was a good point to the timeskip because it seems really pointless now with the exception of it being seven years. The number seven seems integral to the FT storyline.
The old man can't seem to die no matter what. He's been taken out of every major fight but is still kicking.

Yup, no point to a time skip if you can't see new character designs. I want my seven years older Erza, damnit!

This timeskip was a "cool story, bro" if you ask me.

Everything around them changes. That's the point. We're going to have a few chapters showing us how things have changed...including how Romeo learned how to use the Seven Color Fire (from Totomaru of all people) and that Lucy's dad is now dead as well.

Whoa, was surprised by how the chapter went. He took it to the right place this time. Seven years of changes would be a shock to anyone, poor Lucy. I won't say I was completely wrong, but it was a damn interesting chapter. I'm assuming Makarov was asking about his son's guild, with Grimoire Heart and uh... what was the name of Zero's guild? Well anyway with them gone he's probably taken center stage in the world of dark guilds. I was wondering how he'd fit into the the story since, before the timeskip at least, it seemed to be winding down, but it seems like he'll be able to fit it in soon.

Next time there's a mystery in FT I'm betting my money on Edolas..

Most relevant fact of the chapter: Lucy suffers from constipation. ![]()

Mwahahahaha, yeah true that.
I groaned when I saw that arena, even if he says this isn't a tournament, this is gonna be a tournament. Also predictably the FT dragon slayers will fight those ones they've been teasing for a couple of chaps.
I'm wondering where Gajeel has been though. Did Makarov send him to check on Raven Tail again?

The new chapter was really unexpected and enjoyable ^_^
Really hope to see some interesting tournament games..

I honestly feel sorry for the spirits in this case. Just when you think Lucy is summoning her spirits about twice a week, she's actually calling for them every 5 minutes from their perspective ![]()
Offline
^no wonder Aquarius is always so pissed. Lucy's probably calling her multiple times on the same date.
Wasn't expecting them to lose the whole time like that. It was perfectly awesome. Though now what do they do? I know there's not supposed to be any fighting, but anything Natsu get's involved in is likely to turn into a brawl.

Gajeel and the Raijinshuu presumably still got their three months of training at least.

New chapter is posted.
Sting is excited at representing Sabretooth at the games so he can have the chance to battle Natsu; his partner Rogue doesn't care if he participates.
Raven Tail is also going to be in the mix, so we'll finally see Makarov's son and his group in action.
Ultear and Meredy broke Gerard out of prison, and the three have been working together taking down dark guilds ever since to try and atone for their transgressions in their own way. Now they've offered to help Natsu's group find some hidden potential within themselves. Naturally, Erza is a little hesitant at accepting their offer.
And, as if glory wasn't enough, now the group has a second reason to participate in the tournament. Personally, I think this reason was a little cliché.
Honestly, a dark source of magic in the tournament, hmmmmmm who could it be...
*stares at the page with Raven tail's master*
Why, it looks like we got ourselves a groovy mystery, gang.

Hmmm wanted to see Luxus, Freed, Mirajane and Gajeel in action... I'm getting tired of all this coincidence (not a single one of 'em all returned) bs.
And pretty much yeah... almost every mystery until now has an answer: Edolas ![]()

It's possible that Gajeel will join Raven Tail (as Makarov's double agent), but I think he'll be better suited to beat the other Dragon Slayer, though Wendy did apparently learn some new moves which I'm assuming are offensive for her sake. I'm sure how Lucy was chosen over a number of people, guess Makarov believes it's better to be lucky than skillful.
I still fully expect there to be battles in spite of everything that's been said so far. This is a Shounen Manga after all.

I don't really mind not seeing Luxus and Freed.. I don't really like those characters anyhow. Plus it's incredibly difficult to keep a manga going with so many different characters all over the place. Makes the story slow and sluggish and on the whole (even) less interesting.
What I'm tired of is seeing Natsu being weak (and then getting some bs powerup which somehow allows him to beat up the biggest badass on the playground). I mean, he's probably gonna get his ass handed to him by these two new dragonslayers; which is going to annoy me to no end, I can tell. I wish he would just get stronger, once and for all...
Anyway I have a theory about these dragon Lacryma (like the one Luxus got stuffed in him by his old man). The way to obtain it is by killing the dragon of the same element (random speculation). So maybe the reason Igneel suddenly left is because Natsu is supposed to find him in some epic quest and then beat him in epic battle, after which Natsu will get the epic Lacryma, which will allow him to become the epic Dragon King that finally beats Acnologia and Zeref..... Just an epic suggestion
.

It's gonna be a really nice fight tournament next chapter...cannot wait...woohoo!!

Hmm... who's under that mask in Raven Tail? My money would be on Gajeel, but Natsu didn't say anything about a familiar smell. If that is Gajeel he probably knocked her out to keep her away from those crazy 3rd gen dragon slayers, but that's still supposing that was Gajeel.
