this is just a hypothetical senario, but would it be better if viz media was dubbing one piece instead of funimation. I mean noone could complain about dubbed openings and endings, cuz I don't think viz media dubs openings and endings. I'm just wondering what people think about this.

No, in my experience Viz is inconsistent and sloppy with a lot of its translations--much worse than funimation. As an example, Viz translated Xerxes as Cselkcess in most, if not all, of their Fullmetal Alchemist releases. They also occasionally put text in the incorrect text bubble, causing scenes not to make sense, and they often changed romanizations in between volumes (and not because of any official romanizations revealed by the author).

I enjoy dub openings/ endings, if anything just to see how it would sound in english. And if I were not to enjoy the opening in english, I can just as easily switch it back to Japanese. I have begun to see the Funimation dub actors as natural One Piece voices, so I have no qualms with them.

Not to mention that Funimation are kings of marketing when it comes to dubbed anime in general. If you want an unknown anime to have a chance at accessible popularity in America, Funimation is probably the best bet.

If Funimation didn't license One Piece, I wouldn't watch the dub. Viz dubs are lifeless and I think the intros are a big part of what makes the dub exciting. I can't fucking wait for Kokoro no Chizu and Brand New World.

I would argue the viz dubs are lifeless part.
Viz has some really good voice actors under its wing. I think the biggest problem with Viz is that they cast the wrong people for some of its roles.
