My best guess is that since Naruto controls the majority of the Kyuubi's chakra as it is, Naruto's bijuu transformation looks like a giant Kyuubi shaped chakra cloak around Naruto instead of a flesh and blood manifestation of the tailed beast itself. In other words, whereas Bee and the other jinchuuriki simply lets the bijuu fully take over, Naruto is still the one in full control in his bijuu mode. This would also explain the time limit. Naruto hasn't trained sufficiently yet to be able to wield all that power for an unlimited amount of time.

With all the large beasts, and add Sasuke's large Susano'o, what I am seeing is a scene that more closely resembles the one on Shaman King.

I wondered about Sasuke. How will he even play into any of this, anymore? He seems to have completely gone to the backburner in story as there are obviously more pressing matters.
So what in the fuck does Sasuke want, anymore, and how does that have to do with Tobi?

Naruto's looking like his father in his trenchcoat... oh wait... there's two of them! Naruto deserved this power-up... unlike some other emo kid...

UneasySpider, the explanation that I am seeing is that Kyuubii's Yin chakra is sealed away with the death god, which is why we see this kind of transformation.
pilkman, this is also why, I believe, we're not going to see an actual full transformation for Nine-tails..
Edit: although we did see its fleshed form during the Pain arc..
Now I'm confused too.

Here's how I think the whole thing shakes out, beyond Kishimoto simply wishing to make a stylistic choice...
Before, when Kurama was all flesh and bones, that was his physical form and him literally about to break free. That's the warning Jiraiya gave should all nine tails form, so no surprise there. Based on that, and ignoring the obvious example of Orochimaru's hands being decimated from the 3rd's same attack, Kurama having the Yin side of his chakra gone has no effect on his physical form. In sharp contrast to that, the form we're seeing now is entirely chakra based and it does matter that the Yin half is gone.
After all, the Hachibi is still sealed within Bee, so it's not possible that what we see as his actual form is in any way his real flesh and blood. Otherwise, why have the seal at all? As for the other tailed beasts, they were reworked to function as before and in the same way that Bee and the Hachibi do.
"Well yeah, but Son Goku was taken away and Roshi left behind." So? Think of it like a file being moved from a computer to a flash drive and back to a computer again. It's all about the vessel, man. I think it makes plenty of sense, so until/unless Kishimoto gives his own spin on what we're seeing, I'm sticking with it.

I truly enjoy having no idea what will happen next chapter. This is what a good manga is about.

Something I don't understand. All the tailed beasts had full control of all of their powers. The nine-tails lent Naruto SOME of his strength. How did Naruto get strong enough to overcome all the tailed beasts? Or did I miss something?
Offline
the nine tails is giving every bit to naruto now, though naruto can't control it for long, and from the looks of it the nine tails might be the strongest of all of them. all that, plus having guy, kakashi and 8 tails on his side and already having taken down 4 tales, that enough to have it make sense i think.

^ I'm with you on this. I just let it slide but I'm interested in wtf happened, as well.
Also.. I thought all the jinchu were hated by their tailed beasts..

It's weird to me seeing the tailed beasts as kids. I mean, aren't they essentially giant chakra-monsters formed from the torn-apart chakra of an even bigger chakra monster? It's not like they were "born" and had a subsequent infant stage. Maybe that's just me.

Maybe they hate humanity in general for their treatment, but have a grudging respect/tolerance for their hosts for the crap they also have to go through.

I thought the same exact thing as Rhekarid. Chibi bijuus are ridiculous. And ever since the Ichibi's appearance in part 1 that it was accepted that bijuus don't want to be trapped inside jinchurikis and that they try to break free whenever they feel like they might. Naruto almost died several times and Shukaku used to basically torture Gaara. Everything pointed towards Bee being the exception. I honestly dislike the way Kishimoto decided to handle this arc. Was expecting so much more (screen time and relevance) from other characters and so much less from Naruto.

I just wished Naruto would be invaluable as an asset (that's how he was treated in the beggining of the arc) throughout the whole arc instead of being almost the messiah who will solve the war (instead of the combined efforts of thousands of people)

@InfamousDemo - I don't see the problem. Could you tell me how that difference matter? I'm legit curious.

Imagine Naruto not getting out so fast and start kicking serious butt as he did. Instead, everyone else BUT him and bee would deal with most (if not all) of the fights. That's what I liked so much about the beggining of the arc: lots and lots of side characters with something worth seeing got to fight (and therefore had some screen time). It felt, until this last chapter, that Naruto got ungodly powers ( he took on 7/2 bijuu, at the same time) and was going to keep on solving every battle possible (he did that literally at first, than started his fight with the big bad alongside Bee). His power just makes every other character look horribly weak in comparison. Even if he is the titular character and the author is trying to convey the message that you can be strong and respected if work really hard, he is kind of contradicting himself if you look towards Sakura, or most of the other characters. Yeah they do work their butts off to get stronger, but Kakashi and Neji don't redefine landscapes with beams of condensed awesomeness power.
Funny thing is: Kishimoto must have read my mind. This last chapter just shifted focus and lampshaded that Naruto makes other characters that were supposed to be incredibly powerful (like Kakashi and Guy used to be) seem weak-ass red-shirts. The double page on the second chapter seemed kinda unnecessary, but it was well drawn, as his landscapes usually are.
I reread what I just wrote and I'm not sure if I explained myself correctly. I blame english being my second language.

It's a bit hard to argue about the scale of power in all forms of fiction, especially in regards to main characters. I think it had been suggested, either by the source material or (more likely) speculation that the nin-tail's total power rivals the rest of the tailed beasts combined, which would give the character a precedent for crushing opposition.
But if the power of a tailed beast didn't make powerful human characters seem "like weak-ass red shirts," there would be absolutely little merit in considering the tailed beasts to be a tool for warfare and maintaining the status quo.

I believe I follow. Frankly, it's true. At the same time, though, it was supposed to be this way all along. He got this far in saving the village, but when it was the whole of ninja-dom, he just kept doing it. Because he's not so much goal oriented, as himself being himself.
I think it's more a tale of a personality unlike any other.

That sure is a dramatic shot of Sasuke. Too bad I can't really imagine he's anywhere near the level Naruto's currently at, or that anything short of a mighty pulling of new powers out of his ass is going to let him cover that distance.

I think Tobi knows something about Sasuke's current condition that the rest of us do not.. I think naruto was supported to deal with bringing out sasuke's worst, and somehow sasuke is a major if not the most important part of this plot... but... how?
Well, Lets go back to what we know about what we DON'T know:
- What Sasuke has to do with any of this.
- Who Tobi REALLY is.
- What Kabuto will do/wants.
Considering all of these, and how weak wanting to take over the world is for a main villain, it's important to be ready for something pretty shocking in the next coming weeks or month/s.

I thought it seemed like Sasuke was going to be meeting up with all the charging shinobi? At least that's what I thought when I saw the last panel.

Lets hope so because the whole chibi tailed beast stuff was pretty bad.
I really loved how the tailed ones were portrayed as evil and untconrollable. I really digged the temporary teamwork between ninetails and naruto just because he hates madara/tobi more (the enemy of my enemy is my frind stuff). now they are just oversized pets who just want to be loved....
Offline
@AmicardiaN - I have a hard time believing anything is 'evil', because in real life there is no such thing. Evil is an idea, and a label.. not a stance. The people who are VERY obviously doing evil believe themselves to be doing good.. like, example.. the germans, soldiers killing native americans during the civil war..

How could anyone hate the Bijuu Babies?
In all seriousness, though, I don't think it was ever said that the tailed beasts were evil--just that they were giant masses of hate infused chakra. Naruto has found a way to overcome their hatred, which is in keeping with his ultimate goal of ending the cycle of hatred and violence that has ruled the shinobi world for generations.

real life =! manga/anime ![]()
and I do not hate them, they just dropped from ubercool to generic cool.

The sudden rainfall reminds of the Sasuke vs Itachi, he could be using "that" move again. Calling it "that" since I honestly don't remember the name. And Tobi seems awfully nervous right now, he changed from the supposedly cool customer that he was portrayed as till recently.
My single gripe with this whole arc is the lack of development of the "older" characters such as Neji, Rock Lee ect (them being my favs), it seems he threw a way a shining chance to develop some of the characters that were introduced way back in favor of developing the newer ones, like the cloud ninjas. Unless something drastic happens he's throwing away a golden opportunity.
Anyway... still wondering what happened to Zabuza's sword.
