Have you seen the #Kaizoku-Fansubs Codecs Page? horribly out of date but it's still a good read, you should try it. Plus you're not gonuh get any help with "I use VLC" so go figure out what operating system I'm using.

I have the same problem: as far as i've noticed, these 4 episodes are the only ones. I'm also using VLC, btw: version 2.0.
I installed K-Lite full codec (mega version) prior to installing VLC.

Thanks: replied!
The files in question play fine in Media Player Classic but not in VLC and, as far as i know, these 4 episodes are the only ones which don't play (video) with VLC: why is that? What makes these fires different from the others?

something wrong with your codec. I can play those 4 eps well in Media Player Classic, VLC and Gom Player

That should be the case if any of the others (as far as i can tell) didn't play as well but it seems it's only these 4 episodes.
Never used Gom Player but the episodes in question do work in Media Player Classic: i've checked.
I would assume the same codecs were used for all the episodes in the batch 161-170 and yet, only these 4 don't show video: why is that?

I usually have no point what so ever with my post. Incidentally, you can try and right click on VLC and choose to run it as administrator, then try and play the problem EP's and see how it fairs.

You should notice that 162 is the first episode for K-F that used MP4 format. There should be some different encoding setting here and there. So compability issues sometimes happened. I already encounter problem like this in several occasions (any other shows). So installing some players / change codec setting / updating codec could do the trick. As long as I can watch it (using any player), then all is well.
(Reason for Edit : Stupid typos)

Really? Didn't know.
Anyway, BIG NEWS!!!!!! I got it to work (162, @ least).
What was the problem you ask? It had the video track disabled ????? Why the hell would that be the case?????
EDIT
I think i found out why:

161 is the last avi container. 162 and any release afterward using mp4 container. It should be more noticable in the batch. I guess you didn`t turn on the setting to show the file extensions in your PC.
and aaanyway didn`t you already confirm / check that the episodes in question do work in Media Player Classic, so why bother watching them in VLC. Use Media Player Classic to watch them then.

Because, as far as i know, i can't right click a folder and have it play on MPC the way i can with VLC. I find it very useful: specially when the folder has many subfolders.
I do have the "show file extensions" on but i didn't notice, heh: my bad.
Anyway: i would guess the corruption @ the beginning of the file is the reason it has the video track disabled. I tried to reproduce this error in MPC and ... it's not there ... which leads me to believe something's not properly configured with VLC, but i have no idea where to look ![]()

Oh yes, I see your point. I never used that feature so I didn`t really notice. And I have a little experience with VLC, since it is my secondary player. So can`t really help you there. Maybe uninstall and install the newest VLC 2.0.0 can do the trick?

I'm already using VLC 2.0.0 ...

Programs die. If crap turns up and cant fix it, unsintall vlc and download a fresh installfile. Might seem useless but it could just fix your problem. Especially on windows.

Tried this and even deleted preferences and caches but it didn't work ![]()
Tested on episode 162 and again it didn't have video track enabled. When i enabled it, it showed this:

LOL I can`t believe you have so much trouble at this one. And I`m stuck, can`t help you any further. I have the same answer as AmicardiaN

tulip, are you also using VLC to play the file?
Anyway, it seems the most reliable way is ffdshow + MPC. I never had a file I couldn't play using these two. Ok, VSFilter/DirectVobSub is needed for some subtitles, but other than that it's the best choice imo.
Easiest way to get both is by installing CCCP. So I suggest you uninstall all codec packs you might be using and get this:
