I have to say I really disliked the way they handled the Zoro vs Hody encounter, in this episode and the last. Almost the entire underwater portion was filler, and in a confrontation that was meant to emphasize how strong he's become I felt they really watered it down by making him struggle so much.

I agree to some extent, at first really wasn't getting that sense of how much Zoro had powered up and was really worried that they'll make him look weaker than he was in the manga, but it wasn't as bad I had expected. Still agree that it didn't have the same impact as in the manga, but that actual scene when Zoro cut Hody was quite good and still managed to show Zoro's power up...imo anyway..

Anyone know where to get One Piece raw episodes?? Like torrents or something?? Also downlods of the intros/outros without credits that get ripped from the DVDs would be nice too.
thanks in advance.

I guess they wanted to show some handicap at least because Zoro was at a huge disadvantage underwater. Remember Sanji's fight underwater way back in the Arlong arc?
That and I also don't mind the anime team making fights longer.

Yes, but I also felt that exact comparison was part of the point of how fast Zoro dispatched Hody; he's advanced to the degree that instead of being nearly helpless in that situation, he can fight them on their own terms.
I don't usually mind extended fights much, but it's always iffy when they're basically working from nothing. What each fighter does is made up by people separate from the general author, and often gives it kind of a disconnected, pointless feeling to me.

It was supposed to have an epic Luffy vs Bellamy-style impact, where the opponent had absolutely no chance...but that went out the window... *mumble* >.<
Btw, this was mentioned elsewhere so I thought I'd say it here. Toei screwed themselves up with the Hody flashback filler in the previous episode.
Manga Spoilers:-- Now it wont make sense when Hody says humans have never done anything to him.--

Couldn't help but laugh at Franky's silence to Luffy's misunderstanding.

This part was hilarious. It caught me off guard and I nearly spilt my tea all over my laptop, which would not have been so good.
Generally a good episode with what felt like lots going on. Neptune was pretty awesome and the aftermath was fairly humorous. Wasn't expecting it to end the way it did...is that how it was in the manga? I can't remember...

I was curious about that too, so I checked. Nami's flashbacks occur in the next chapter, so it just only ends with Jinbei saying that he is responsible. I thought the scene was well done in rehashing Nami's painful memories.

Not just rehashing, but they reanimated the scenes as well. A very well done flashback.

Just dropping in to say that I'm really enjoying this arc so far. It feels very well paced, not far in and the crew already finds itself in the thick of things both at the palace and with the unfortunate courtship of Shirahoshi. Of course it helps to have the gang back together after such a long time, everything feels fresh again, for lack of a better word.
One thing that's curious is that no obvious 1 on 1 opponents for the strawhats have been established yet (apart from drug-enhanced Hody for Luffy, I guess, but where does that leave Van Der Decken?), which I assume is going to happen down the line. Makes the whole thing more unpredictable than most previous arcs.

He tried to fight Luffy (sorta). Luffy kicks his ass hard.

No new episode this week, on account of Sunday being the one-year anniversary of the Tohoku region tsunami.
Disappointed but it's totally understandable.
Here's a link to before and after: images taken with almost a year difference.

The difference is astonishing!!!
Regarding this topic's name: if @ all possible, could a mod change the title of this thread from "-ep526 pg 409" to current episode and page? The topic's owner doesn't seem to be around, unfortunately ![]()

I'm referring to what happens in the big climactic battle yet to come, not what just happened two episodes ago.
Clearly, Decken wants to get back at Luffy, but he'll never get the chance.
Says who? He's the only one in the group who hasn't taken the energy steriods. Therefore....

Heard there was some kind of fire at the animation studio. So no OP this week and next, with a 90 min special encompassing 539-541 on the 24th.

A fansub place and a few places where u can stream episodes had some guy post that, I'm taking it with a huge grain of salt though. I think your answer is the right one and we just had a one week break.

Finally those lazy-bums of Toei reanimate stuff, they always paste the old episode in 4:3 to a weird background ¬¬

Too bad no 540 today. Would of loved a double feature.

This weeks ep didn't do a lot for me. Also, I seem to find Nami weird looking in the anime, kinda feels like the animators struggle to draw her? Dno, maybe just me. Was nice to see that they finally reanimated the flashbacks too.

Didn't really remember feeling emotional when going through that scene in the manga, so they definitely did their job well in creating that effect for me. Very touching

I'm still amazed that they can introduce a new character mid-episode and leave me teary-eyed by the end.
Also, I feel the need to confess that I have become completely enamored with the voice actress who plays Queen Otohime!

I think there's a Toriko crossover this week instead of an actual episode.
