Avatar: The Legend of Korra

I'd heard about it but I never thought it would get here so soon.
The new show really has the same...spirit as the previous one. Somehow, even if it feels like "the last airbender" just ended, this gives me a great sense of nostalgia. So much that I was in tears actually....I am so weak.

Yes, I can attest to this online leaked version since I watched it.. in low quality =[. My roommate did say that the FB page would release a leaked version if they reached a certain amount of views so maybe they might have been behind this or something? Anyways, all you have to do is google it and you'll find it!

Re: Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Awww I know my thread was 2 years old; but it was good. Ah well.

Fav part/Rage part all happened with in a few secs.

Grandma what happened to Zuko's mom?  *Holy Crap! Major loose end* squee
Let's make snow men!  *Gha! I hate you forever middle sister whose name I've already forgotten.*

Overall really good start to series. Animation was very much improved over the last series.

Re: Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Yeah, but there's only three episodes so far. They're awesome episodes, don't get me wrong, but I hope you've diversified your portfolio.

I thought Amon's big reveal would be that he was related to one of Team Avatar. His real reveal was sooooo much better.

Hell we don't know that he's not. His soldiers were using Ty Lee's chi blocking moves afterall.

Re: Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Spoilers ahead, so be aware of that.

When Aang took away Ozai's bending he had his hands on the head and the heart, while Amon only puts his hand on the head. Since he's utilizing chi blocking it may be a sort of bastardized form of energy bending; it takes away the bending away, but it may not be as permanent like what Galaxy Crisis says.

It may also be that Amon was actually bestowed the power by the spirits. Think about it. The world has entered an age where the supernatural is seen more as legend and folk tales than something that's actually real and accessible. Spirits are believed in less and less in the face of rapidly escalating technology and the Avatar, the physical manifestation of the link to them, hasn't been in contact for over 17 years. It's understandable that there would be discontent among at least a fraction of the spirit world.

It's conjecture, but I think it would be really incredible to see that not only is there discord in the physical realm but in the spiritual realm as well. It's been stated already that it's a problem that Korra hasn't tapped into it, so I want to see just how big of a problem.

In a last bit, I'm really happy that Tenzin believed Korra about Amon's ability right away instead of brushing her off. The writers are doing a great job of keeping the story moving.

Re: Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Perhaps the reason that she can't master the spiritual aspect of being the Avatar has to with the reason that Amon CAN.

The pacing of the first three episodes were near perfect, had no objections, and the voice acting was pretty darn good, like Steve Blum as a bad guy that's not Orochimaru...

I also think its a little cheap of Amon to take away powers like that, it certainly does feel like bending it's almost as though he's selling out his own principles, but unfortunately we don't know enough about him to REALLY know what his motives are.  Also found the guy using the electrified batons a little annoying, though bending is a great power I feel all these guys might just be jealous that they can't bend in the first place.  Something about the story so far reminds of X-men just turned on its side since the benders appear to be the ones in power right now.

Simple misinterpretation my good man.

'-but it may not be as permanent, like what Galaxy Crisis said.' I was saying that I agree with your assessment that Amon maybe isn't doing it right. *comma added for clarity.

Re: Avatar: The Legend of Korra

so, prediction time!!!  i'm guessing battle with amon will end with korra discovering her own spirit bending powers.  with two spirit benders it'll be like the light show at the end of the first series with korra winning.  course, instead of taking away bending, she'll make him an airbender.  after that, she'll start giving airbending out to the homeless people in the park and stuff, the people closest to already being nomads, who tenzen will then lead to the air temples to finally return balance between the 4 elements.

yes, because there were no romantic sub-plots in the original avatar

Yes but this episode was a throw away episode. Every thing in this story could have been in the B plot in two good episodes dealing with Anon.

maybe, but probably not as well, especially with the bending tournament and all.  and i was more getting at soul's comment on how this avatar is more for girls just because of one romantic themed episode.

That just reminds me. If another movie producer even tries to touch this series, they better keep it original... what a fail the previous one was =[

As did I.

Re: Avatar: The Legend of Korra

I wonder if that is Toph at the end, the person does seem blind but it's hard to tell. That would probably make Tarrlok older then he seems tho. It is also quite likely that he is Amon, the boss of the equalist being a bender wouldn't be very surprising.

Re: Avatar: The Legend of Korra

i dobut it, the way he looked when korra compaired the two, it was more like anger than fear of discovery.  this series is getting really dark, i mean i already had a hard time viewing the equalists as villians because what they want is, well, what we have, kinda hard to fault them for that.  and now this.  great show, just a hell of a lot darker than the original

Re: Avatar: The Legend of Korra

I think Amon is actually Tarrlok's father, and he learned how to take bending away from Aang trying to do it on him (and for some reason, failing). The reason he can resist bloodbending is due to his own ability to bloodbend, which he uses to negate Tarrlok's bending.
