Shouldnt this thread already have new name?one related to the current arc?

CC might be... Buggy's lost cousin...

It's going to be a tanuki. Oda's been making those jokes for the entire show since Chopper was introduced. Its happening. Prepare yourselves.
Offline
Not sure if it's a joke or not, but Mangastream says they'll be resuming jump releases.
Offline
Haha, don't worry. I wasn't expecting an early release or anything. Just shocked at the sudden 'change of heart' of Mangastream and wanted to check out more info.
For me, I welcome the return of their scanlations. Ok, maybe they weren't perfect and on rare occasions did not interpret completely accurately, but I liked the overall quality; atleast in their version certain words weren't missing, and the grammar and spelling in general was up to scratch. Pet peeve of mine is glaringly bad grammar/spelling. Definitely hate it when the sentences are finished within a speech bubble. If I don't notice then fair enough, but some of the alternatives we have since Mangastream stopped have been atrocious.
Guess it's also because I had become familiar with Mangastream's style of translation (e.g. the wording and the typography, etc) which helped with the flow as I read, so going back to their translations would be nice.
Anyway, sorry, didn't mean to turn into a mini-rant. We shall see how it goes with Mangastream. I - like all of you, I'm sure - have alternative places to get my One Piece manga fix, but like I said, I'd happily go back to Mangastream ![]()

That is good news, in a sense. Basically, according to their Twitter feed, the ones at fault aren't Mangastream itself, but rather all the other sites that archive their scanlations (e.g. Mangareader and Mangafox).
They won't release their own scanlation until another group does, to keep all the archivers from putting it up on their sites. Plus, they'll take the scanlations off their own site much sooner, a few days as opposed to a few weeks.
I've just read the twitter feed you mentioned, so basically the reason they returned to scanlating jump is because the whole country of bulgaria emailed and warned them?

No... the e-mail they quoted had a guy (or gal) say "I am Bulgaria" (presumably meant "I am Bulgarian"), and Mangastream was poking fun at that e-mail by saying that the entire country had sent an e-mail. Kind of makes me wonder if they are serious in the entire re-scanlating thing.

Chapter out-
I'm interested to see if this pans out as a useful arc. It's already proven to be a very informative arc, but is the imminent showdown all that important? CC strikes me as an enemy of intermediate relevance- the development of the overall storyline looks more connected to the other parts: Trafalgar, the island as the former battlefield of Aokiji/Akainu, and the mention of the 11 supernovas influence in the intervening 2 years. Hopefully the coming battle with CC and his underlings has greater influence on the story (I imagine smoker and tashigi's connection to the SH will be further cemented, good or bad), and not just a "take him down, bounty goes up" plot. (And of utmost significance and importance I, like Luffy, also wonder what happened to kuma?
)

It's possible since Law is involved. Looks like CC is following orders from someone else.

An exposition chapter. Might take a while for it all to sink in.
Also: That color spread is the epic definition of epic. Please tell me that relates to the new movie.
edit: I'm sorry, but I can't get over this. This image will be one of the last things to flash before my dying eyes. I want this painted on my van someday. The only thing that would make this more awesome was if the ladies were somewhere in it with machine guns, but hey, it's a small boat.

That cover page was EPIC, though Chopper kinda got hosed. He didn't get a gun or any cotton candy in his mouth, c'mon Oda.
All those marines with Smoker have some weird hats, one of em even had a bucket for a hat. Had to love Smoker walking around in Tashigi's body with the shirt open too.

There's a missing page on the mangastream version , the last page.

Actually, Chopper has what looks like a .22 rifle on his back.

Ah. I just realized something.
This could finally be the arc where we get to see a Sanji vs Zoro deathmatch pending on CC's hallucination gases and just how the body swap stuff ends up, which would be awesome. He so far doesn't seem to have many fighters on his side currently. The current possible opponents are bird girl, "Joker", Law, Smoker, Tashigi, and Caesar. I can't honestly see Law having a major fight here. I'm expecting his goals to be achieved then unswap and leave. Same kind of thing with Smoker and Tashigi. They might have a smaller clash with the straw hats, but I can't imagine a major clash.
That leaves Caesar for Luffy, bird girl (who doesn't seem like an opponent for Zoro or Sanji) and "Joker" assuming the mole is there.

I knew it. The people were left behind by the Marines. Used as test subjects in Vegapunk's Experiments. I KNEW IT!!
Caesars a huge di-k. also reminds me of Mayuri from Bleach. Ill pretend its Mayuri, and he did actually get ousted by the good guys.
I think that CCs working for Doflamingo. Makes the most sense to me, hes a guy that pulls strings and has plots and conspiracies.

I saw it, but he's not firing it, though that'd be weird in his brain point form aaaaaannnd he probably wouldn't fit there in any of his other forms so I guess I'll give it a pass. Still though if Luffy can chomp on a piece of meet while firing semi-automatics I think he could've let Chopper have a piece of cotton candy... just sayin.
Actually when people were talking about Manga Steam missing the last page I realized when I read the chapter this morning (not on manga stream) I didn't see the color spread. Not till I checked this thread in the afternoon...
AAAAAAANNND shouldn't brook have a .45... also just sayin.

A thought just occurred to me. Can Tashigi in Smoker's body use his devil fruit. It would appear that Nami can use some of Franky's cyborg abilities, but Franky hasn't changed out of Chopper's Kung Fu Point. So I'm wondering if only the person who originally had the devil fruit can use it, or if it just hasn't occurred to them yet to practice with their new abilities. We know that once you eat a devil fruit, you pretty much know how to use it, though the extent of that use can be raised through experience. But maybe the knowledge of how to change forms or turn into smoke was only granted to the mind that was originally in charge. Also, it looks like Law still has Smoker's heart, so maybe that somehow has taken his abilities away. Either way, I'm sure we'll have an answer soon enough. Hell, we might get a good explanation of how devil fruits work out of this arc.

The worst time of the year has arrived once again...it's....GOLDEN WEEK!!!!!!!!

I dont think we are going to get an in-depth explanation of DFs until we actually meet Vegapunk, whose done the most research into that particular field. I would expect to get some more info on Vegapunk in general in this arc though, similar to how we got some info from Buggy on Shanks waaay back in Buggy's arc. Which was incomplete in many ways, but was more than what we had at the time.

Hm....seems like an early release. Chapter is out.
edit: there are some answers about the DF abilities concerning the mind-swapped characters.
edit2: Wow, interesting. I'll wait for others to read first before I say any more.

Wow, soon as they started going berserk I could tell what was going on. Holy Crap. It was nuts how the chapter started off crazy funny then got totally serious, even though that One Piece.
Robin... her comments had be laughing so hard I woke up my roommate.
Offline
I full on creased at Robin and just yeah, started for with much humour and ended so seriously. As you said though, typical One Piece affair. Story is starting to progress though.
I also had an inkling about what was going on when they started going berserk.

Wasn't the week gone by Golden Week, so this chapter was due this week? Obviously no chapter this coming week now though.
The Samurai's name was mentioned by Caesar last chapter, Kinemon. I think the different groups had difficulty translating it though...something like Kinemon the Will O Wisp or something.
