I think its possible that the series production has been postponed until Funimation gets its new owner seeing as its mother company seems intent on selling it. Maybe funimation will cancel it but I highly doubt it. I remember when the dragon ball series first came out and they had to restart it twice more before it finally took off. Not to mention the directors and VA's really like doing the series. Maybe they need a reboot now that they have finally caught up to where they were originally dubbing. Also I don't think if they were going to drop it they would still be putting all that effort into providing free simulicasts still every week. When that stops then I'll be worried. Make no mistake funimation plans to make one piece their dragonball of the 21st century.

I would like to hear the sound of the character's right, I do not think I have heard the voices of these people, though the former. I hope they do a good job, I mean I have to admit that the voice of Naruto dubbing sounds like they really go with the characters.

Funimation finally got the rights to more One Piece. They now have all the way through to 263, the end of Water 7!

Hellz yeah! I remember thinking about checking in on this update some time on Friday, but I completely forgot about it. Glad to see that we're getting our dub Piece back.

Oh! Is that what that countdown was for? Sweet! I'm still a little behind but I'm almost at G8, so I was hoping for this.

ANN has Rob Lucci listed as Jason Liebrecht I didn't bother looking at the rest since the list is so long. Though it could be someone assuming since he did the voicework in the game he will during series.

Its highly possible they will return, and I think they will make every effort.
That said, they may recast some roles. Bon Clay in the game was not Bon Clay for the dub. Some things may change.
The reason I say this is because the game was recorded 3 plus years ago, and there are alot of new funimation voice actors that have joined since then. There might be a better suited actor among the new crop to fill these roles.

Who do you think should sing the dub for opening 5 and ending 14? I personally want to see the dub for the groggy ring, cuz I love those episodes

Yeah I have to admit the dubbing on the some of the opening and ending theme really could use some work. I liked the 1st and 3rd openings but whoever did the 2nd and 4th openings andsome of the endings needs to do a better job with her singing. Goofs up her pitch at points and misses the high notes. Too bad because she has the voice to do the songs. Maybe needs a bit more practice or better editing scrutiny from the Funi crew. Has anyone else noticed that some of the dubbing quality went down a little at the end of season 2?

You mean during the filler boxset? I didn't pay attention as much. I always play Minecraft or something when I watch that set. Me and my friend have noticed that too about Caitlin Glass's singing. All it takes is pressing the audio button on my remote a couple times to shift it back and forth ![]()

And we might get them in blu ray. So I'm dying to see them.
hell yeah blue ray is difficult and expensive lol....all thing is now using blue ray....but i hate expensive price ~_~

Not if they do a blu-ray/dvd combo. The prices on amazon for the fairy tail BR/dvd combos aren't any more than a regular DVD set. That bodes well for One Piece

Do you think the people who voiced characters introduced in Water 7 in the Unlimited Adventure video game will reprise their roles in the new dub, or should we expect them to be voiced by different people? I never played the game myself, so I don't know how the characters sounded.

This is actually a huge shame - my first exposure to Funimation's dub of One Piece was through Unlimited Adventure just this year. I found the game in a bargain bin of used games for $4.99 (which is awesome since it's roughly $100 online for a used copy
).
I was absolutely blown away by how well done the translations and voices were. I'm very picky about dubs, and I didn't set high standards since One Piece is a pretty difficult series to translate; with its strange sense of humor, tons of puns and all the weird personalities, voices etc.
But Unlimited Adventure was incredibly well translated and all the voices were superb! They really made the effort to mimic all the original voices and patterns of speech, even the very odd ones like Bon Clay.
I was so impressed, I downloaded a torrent for the Funimation dub to see more of it.
Sadly, I found that Funimation dubbed the game and the series differently. The series makes less of an effort to stick to little quirks (nick names among the characters, patterns of speech, puns etc.) which was a huge shame since the game captured all those traits flawlessly.
Something that REALLY bugs me is how Funimation kept the integrity of all the attacks in Unlimited Adventure, but not in the actual show. In the game, Sanji says his moves in French, Robin in Spanish, Zoro in Japanese etc. (only exception is translating "gomu gomu" into "gum gum"). But in the show, almost all the attacks are translated into English ![]()
I still find that Funimation is doing a very decent job on the dub, but they're messing with stuff that should be left alone. Based on the episodes I've seen, there are some unnecessary changes to dialog as well, which can really damper the significance or meaning of a scene.
And yeah, the dubbed opening/ending themes piss me off.

As far as I know, Robin's and Sanji's attacks keep their original names in the new dub, but that's probably because Spanish and French are commonly spoken languages in the U.S. I don't mind them translating Zoro's attacks, but they really should have left the name Santouryu as is.
Ohhh, well that's good. I wasn't aware that Funimation made a "new dub". The episodes I were watching were all before the Drum Arc, so when Funimation was still new at dubbing One Piece.

I believe now Funimation keeps Sanji's attacks in French and Robin's attacks in Spanish. Only Zoro's attacks are still in English, but I would need to double check on that since it has been a while.

Are you sure you're not confused, Mushi? By "new dub" I mean the Funimation dub. Although, they did re-do the Skypiea episodes after they aired on TV to correct some dialogue mistakes, most notably the fact that Robin never refers to her crewmates by name at that point in the series.
I remember her calling Nami "miss navigator" way back in the '07 dub on Toonami.

Fantastic. Time to start saving up. Do you know if they're releasing a blu-ray set too?
Offline
Doesn't look like it. However the details on the set aren't out so there's still a chance for a combo pack.

Offline
I feel bad for passing up on the sets when i saw them at Best Buy when i had the money, still do actually. I guess its true what they say about illegal downloading lol. I have those episodes on blank DVD and now don't feel too rushed on buying them. I feel bad. Like i'm hurting the sells for the series.

Offline
Then buy them off amazon. or the very least buy the collections then switch to the voyages as the new ones come out.

Yay groggy ring! I love that part.

but who will play Foxy...

FUnimation's one piece official website now has episodes 206-207 sub only, with no subs for opening 5 and the ending was ending 15 so I guess they are going to skip ending 14.
