But this Vollständig seems to be a variant, in which the Quincy's powers do not dissipate after it is used, if I'm reading Kirge's comments correctly.
I doubt that. It's different, but there was MUCH implication when he said "I was just given command to use all the strength I have to defeat you" so I'm falling on that it's still a power that dissipates your powers.

I think the Vandenreich are a rogue faction of Quincies that split from the group before Uryu's grandfather died. Kirge mentions Uryu's grandfather in a manner that suggests he detests him, which implies that the Quincies of the Vandenreich had a falling out.
No, these guys are possibly upto 1000 years old. Uryu's ancestors dealt with them, but not the grandfather. When the quincy were wiped out it was after these guys split off.

Am I the only one with the twisted mind that Sasabike is the one behind this? Since he died without giving a fight, I am having thoughts about it. Well, too soon to say, or too stupid to accept.

This is the first time we see Ichigo's Bankai since getting his powers back. Any differences other than the zigzagging black cloth around his chest? I can't tell if his sword changed.

Shit, you're right! i should've realized. Yeah I'm glad Kubo did that.

He's dead, dude. 100%. You don't survive that unless orihime is right next to you.
I like this; killing characters we feel strongly about. That's a true story. That's when you know the series is ending with this final arc. This is by far anywhere from slow, thankfully.
I'm back to liking the series. It's very fresh to me, right now. What about you guys?

I think it was kind of silly for Kubo to introduce three new named characters, reveal the names of their shikai, and then instantly kill them off without even showing us clearly what their released swords even looked like. And I see Kubo still hasn't lost his amputee fetish.
I just hope we get to see some new bankai. I want to see Kyouraku's for sure, and I'm hoping Rukia has one to show off now as well (I've been waiting the whole damn series to see hers).

It's veeery early to say "100%". Remember when Allon punched Vice Captain Booblady's organs out? Or Aizen nearly slicing Ichigo in half down to the spine, after Captain Kuchiki had already beaten on him? Or Mayuri basically losing his entire torso but still surviving long enough to turn himself into goo? In fact, while my memory isn't great, I'm fairly sure that Yamamoto's vice-captain being killed was the first time in the *entire series* one of the good guys has died. I agree that it would normally be a mortal wound, but...Bleach doesn't let go of its characters easily.

After the fairly normal names for the new characters in the Xcution arc, I had hoped that the bizarre names of the Arrancar arc were a thing of the past...I guess I was wrong. Seriously though, how does Kubo consistently pick the stupidest, hardest to pronounce names for his characters? I thought Nnoitra and Szayel were ridiculously bad names, but they're tame compared with Nanananananana Batman or whatever the garbage his name is.

Anyone else getting major Karasu vibes from As Nodt?

Have you forgotten about Gin Ichimaru?

I think there was some magical hope he was somehow.. alive... I mean, no funeral, so, not AS official.

I did, actually, but his role as a "good guy" was unsteady at best.
As for the latest chapter; or, Byakuya, you could not be stupid and let your much weaker subordinate sacrifice his bankai to see how it works.

Interesting things to consider before the next chapter:
1. The four captains that lost their Bankai; These are the four newest captains. There are nine other captains who may very well asked the new captains to try this strategy...
2. Ichigo is immune to this. It's possible it is due to him being a vizard... We have Vizard captains.
3. Kenpachi.
The third reason alone will keep me from reading bleach for a few or more chapters to let it build up. Watching Kenpachi rip these guys a new one would make my year. No lie.

Huh? Since when are any of them even slightly new?

Although technically, one could argue that Rose, Shinji, and Kensei are now the most recently appointed ones, since they used to be captains but lost their posts, and now they've been reinstated.
That's obviously not what I meant.

holy crap, did something actually happen?!

Yeah, Urahara is such a killstealer--first Aizen and now Kirge.

Wait wait wait I just thought of something fun. If the Quincies are sealing away Bankai's, ain't this already Kenpachi's game?
Offline
Wait, did Ichigo just get sealed in that between-dimensions place where time flows differently? Because the last time that happened it didn't work out so great for the bad guys.

Aizen.
That would be a hell of a twist, with the requisite "Only I may destroy Soul Society.", but I'm thinking Grimmjow. Also, that was a hell of a chapter. My pulse hasn't raced that quickly from a Bleach chapter in a long time. Can't wait for next week.

I'm not sure if I would enjoy Aizen returning or not...
I have to agree though sokpupet, this week's chapter has been a bit better. Hopefully this will carry on and Bleach can end on a high, just like how it started... hopefully it'll be enough for me to forget the junk in the middle.

I wanna say Aizen too but then again why would he be in Hueco Mundo when he got locked away in SS. And how did he get his zanpakuto back after it crumbled away. Then again this is Bleach where random shit happens with no explanation so who knows.

It's prolly Isshin, saying "Where's my boy?"
And it's about time we hear his side of the story.....

Indeed.
Isshin would be good, and we might finally get some answers and stuff about his past! There is so much Kubo could do here to really draw us 'fans' (I use that term ever so generously) in; so much he can reveal!!
