ooc: that's okay. thanks for telling us, it lets us know that youre still an active crewmember (this is a problem a lot of forum RPs have)
ic: Misty stared over the horizon, still watching the fight (mermaids have extremely good eyesight, like elves). Sadly, she watched as X tried his best to dodge Lazarus's attacks. Blood dripped from numerous cuts on his body. Every time he avoided an attack he fired a barrage of x's at Lazarus, who seemed to not notice. Lazarus quickly fired 3 arrows from his bow, one frozen, one electrical, and one flaming. Before the arrows neared their target, Lazarus flung two of his golden double-bladed knives at X and drew his elemental switchblade. Unable to watch, Misty turned away.
Poor X... he tried to protect us... Misty thought. She slowly turned back, but saw nothing on the shore. She then wet to find Dimitri.

Dimitri was in the room dressed in his training gear when a knocked reached his ears, he sighed and bid the visitor to enter his room. He was standing his room infront of his dresser when puddle of water slipped through the crack in the doorway. Dimitri scoffed softly, "Hello, captain." he greeted with a sad smile on his lips. Slowly, the puddle rose and shaped into Misty who noticed how sad Dimitri seemed.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing, miss Misty." he replied. He cast his gaze down towrds the floor. "I-I apologize for my behavior towards you, miss Misty." he continued, embarresed over his loss of control.
"It's okay..." Misty said in a soft tone a she went to stand next to her first mate. "but something is botheirng you. What is it?"
Dimitri didn't answer her, instead he moved towards the window of his room. Misty looked after him, "If your sad about X, there is nothing we could have done. He died so that we could get away."
Still Dimitri remained silent. You would not understand... he thought. Misty continued to stare at him. "Why wouldn't I understand?" she asked. Dimitri's head rose slightly in surprise, Did she...?
"So? Why wouldn't I understand?" Misty repeated. Dimitri refused to respond however; as a precaution he also kept his mind clear of thoughts.
"Oh...Did you think that? Sorry. I thought you had spoken it."
Dimitri turned slightly, just enought to catch Misty in his sight as she turned to look out the door at the ocean. "Please tell me what's wrong, Dimitri."
Still he remained still and silent. Misty returned her gaze to him, "Why won't you tell me?"
When he only stared at her, she looked down at the floor, "You can tell me, you know."
Dimitri turned back to the window in response.
Misty sat on the bed then she lay back and stared at the ceiling. Not wanting to leave her in the room alone, Dimitri simply stood in front of the window, careful not to think while Misty said nothing and continued staring at the ceiling.
"I'm not telling you, miss Misty." Dimitri finally replied. Misty stayed silent for a minute, "Please tell me, so that I can help."
But Dimitri didn't answer her, he just resumed his defiant silence. Misty slowly stood. She walked to the door and turned. "Well, if you wnat to tell me I'll be around." with that, she left the room and closed the door.
She didn't get fare before she remembered she had seen a picture on the small table. Misty turned and re-entered the room and found Dimitri turned slightly to see that she had returned, then he turned back to his view of the sea. Misty shifted her eyes from Dimitri to the picture ont he nightstand and turned back to Dimitri. "So, who is that picture of?" she asked.
"No one. he answered softly, "No one that is important to you anyway."
Misty looked back at the picture. "Is she your sister, or what?"
"I said she's not important to you." he repeated a bit more loudly than he had intended. Misty stepped back, "I asked you this because I know what it's like to leave behind family and friends. You see, I have a brother back where I was born. If I could, I would still be there. But...my father..." her voice trailed off. Dimitri turned to her slightly, eyes a crack wider by the last statement.

Misty continued. "I was born in the city of Atlantis. When I was born, I was next in line to the throne, as my father is king of Atlantis. So, I am the princess of Atlantis. However, my father wanted a son. Soon my mother bore him a son and, since I was the next in line for the throne, he decided to have me killed, so that his son could rule after him. He exiled me and commanded the Atlantian army to find me and kill me. I have been unable to return to my homeland and my family and friends for more than three hundred years. Recently I found out that my father has hired the legendary assassin Lazarus to finishe the job. Also, my father has forbidden all mermaids and mermen from leaving the city until I am dead."

ooc: um...we have food. Dimitri loaded up the ship before we left crystal island...and i say we just leave the doctor part alone until somone applies as the new doctor, until then dimitri with his knowledge would be an amateur doc and annie could give nutrion and heal slightly through food preperation or we could just like iono run around until we find a local doc of the towns we go to like luffy did before he got chopper.
ic: After Misty finished her story, she stood there waiting for a response from Dimitri. But there was none. What could he have said? Dimitri didn't know how to respond so he simply stood there, staring at her until she finally left him to his sadness. When the door closed, Dimitri moved from his spot by the window and locked the portal to the rest of the ship. Then he changed back to his regular clothes, no longer motivated to train. When he finished, Dimtiri found himself sitting on his bed once more. Gently he took the picture on the table and looked at it intently...

"Annie!" Tsubaki enthusiastically waved to her cohort in crime. "Doesn't our ship look a little bit too plain?" The two devilish girls whispered hoarsely in a corner whilst the others were occupied.
"Do we have paint, Annie?" Tsubaki asked.
"No~, but we do have fruit!" Annie whispered excitedly.
"Everyone's been too sad and depressed here lately, so~ let's cheer them up slash take their minds off of things."
"Okay. So, we have strawberries, cantelope, blueberries, melons, lemons, hey! that rhymed, anyhoo~, limes, oranges..."
"Enough to paint the pink, purple, spotted penguins of the tequila tribe all over the boat?"
"And with enough leftovers to make a swirly background of happiness and love and joy." And so the insidious, I mean, innocent plot began.
Offline
Whistling innocently, (yes, Annie actually can whistle -gasp-) Annie bought out a basket full of fruit, covering it with her parasol to try and hide it. In her mind, she pictured herself not noticable or suspicious at all. Meeting back up with Tsubaki, the two girls giggled quietly, sorting through the fruit.
"Ready?" Tsubaki asked, yet Annie shook her head.
"Wait!" Annie then took a blueberry and squished it onto her cheeks, making two blue lines under her eyes, as if ready for battle. Without asking, she did the same to Tsubaki's cheeks, and clapped her hands together when she finished. "Okies, we're ready now!" They both grinned, taking a fruit in each hand. Annie blinked. "This whole ship is so bo~ring. Where oh where should we start, Tsubaki?!"

The two waited until it was evening so they could carry out their devious, I mean, innocuous and totally family-friendly plot quickly. Since, most everone was on the actual ship and sleeping, Annie and Tsubaki decided to start on the actual outer hull. Giggling, as they lowered themselves to the side of the ship on ropes, each with her own basket of fruitilicious paint. They decided to start with the "beaches of curry." Quickly, the two artists smeared lemons and oranges on the hull as close to the bottom as they could. They went round and round and round and, well you get the point, 'til there was a cute beach of curry encircling the ship. It was now time to paint the penguins. Annie squished (I like that word, squishy squishy!) a large quantity of strawberries in her hand and started to splat a rough outline of a penguin near the ship's front-left. Tsubaki took the grapes and did the same, only on the ship's fron-right. However, the duo discovered that lychee could not actually serve for the white of the penguins.
"Uh-oh. Annie what do we do?!"
"Hmm..." Since Annie was the cook, the answer came quite quickly. "Marshmellows."
"Perfect!" With as few giggles as possible they rushed to the kitchen and appehended the marshmellows-in-distress from the evil refrigerator of DOOM! After the marshmellow mission the penguins were completed, and the two started the laborious process of smacking on the sky... with marshmellow clouds, of course. This required frequent trips to the kitchen, because the blueberries were tiny little critters. Finally, the hull was "beautified."
Annie had previously told the captain that Tsubaki and she could handle the duty of look-out, so the next stop were the masts and crows nest. Deciding that a lovely swirl of marshmellow and cherry red was just what it needed the end result were candy-cane monstrosities. Ah yes, the joys of sugar.
Now came the difficult part - the deck.
"Annie, how are we going to paint the deck without anyone waking up?"
"Err..." They hadn't thought that far ahead. Fortunately for them, the three buckets used to swab the aforementioned deck happened to be in their line of sight. The two snuck quietly into the kitchen and, since the crew was used to Tsubaki's rather surprising appetite at the most inconvenient times during the day, noise wasn't an issue. In two of the buckets they smushed strawberries with lychee and marshmellows to make an...interesting shade of pink and in the remaining container, they created a beautiful shade of lime green. Annie and Tsubaki used mops to cover the entire deck with pink and then the finishing touch came in the form of green polka dots. After congratulating themselves on a job well done, they washed themselves in the kitchen and went for a well deserved rest, not noticing a ripples that marked the ocean surface as the sun began to rise.

A few minutes before Annie and Tsubaki's dastardly plot *ahem* artistic enhancement, Misty had left Dimitri's room.
Why the heck was he so quiet...? she wondered. She slowly walked up to the roof of the main cabin area. Tired, she brought some water from the sea and formed it into a ball around herself. She lay back in the liquid sphere and soon fell asleep.

Offline
Morning came upon the pirate ship, the raising rays of the sun slowly reaching across the vast ocean the boat was anchored upon. Dimitri was fast asleep however, he had drifted off in a sitting position with his precious picture held gently but firmly within his grasp. Had his back not been facing the window to this room the warm light would've struck the photo, causing it to gleam from the many tears that now lay on the glass.
Dimitri slowly opened his eyes and he smiled slightly, happy that this first morning sight was of Seiran but then his happiness gave way to despair as he the memories of his failure came flooding back. He sighed sadly as he carfully put the frame back to its sitting place-
-but his hand slipped as the ship jolted. Before the crash of wood and glass could be heard, Dimitri quickly snatched the photo from the air, saving it from ruin. Then he layed it on his bed and ran out of his room to see if they had hit something.
Upon arriving on the port side of the deck, Dimitri made several important discovers. First, he learned the ship had not run aground anywhere nor had it hit something in the water, rather something in the water hit the ship. Second, the thing that had ran into the ship had actually hit the ship on purpose and was actually a seaking. Third, the seaking had been lured by the fruits from the kitchen which had been taken and spattered all over the ship. Fourth, Tsubaki and Annie did it. He knew this because the duo was now running around the deck of the ship panicking over how their curry covered beaches with pink penguins was being destroyed...
Dimitri could only shake his head, laughing slightly. But he stopped because a deafening roar from the beast itself had covered it up. Looking up, Dimitri took a seed from his shirt pocket and held it in his palm. As with the men from Crystal Island, Dimitri grew the seed into a vine and it rapped itself around the animal like a boa constrictor around its prey. Then he tossed the thing into the air; after a few minutes the seaking came back down with a sickening crack as it landed on the placid sea waters, dead.

Offline
Misty awoke with a start as the ship rattled from the SeaKing. She slowly turned and looked at the huge animal and saw the vine wrapping around it too late. She cringed as the life was crushed from the creature and it was thrown into the air. As the SeaKing crashed onto the water's surface, she smelled fruits. She looked around and noticed that the ship was painted with many varieties of tropical fruits.
It must have been Annie and Tsubaki... she thought. She flicked her wrists and the bubble of water popped, sending water everywhere. The water rained down on the deck below, washing away some of the 'paint'. Misty stood and jumped down to the deck. As Annie and Tsubaki ran past her, she made a small motion with her hand. The air moisture around their feet condensed and froze solid. The two girls fell, unable to move their feet. Misty turned around.
The two girls looked at Misty and tried to back away. Misty stared at them.
"You brought the death of a sea creature... there will be a punishment..." Misty said. The two girls on the deck quieted. "Now, go scrub off every bit of fruit on the ship. Then paint the ship with normal paint, every inch of it. Paint the hull black and the cabin blue, the masts black, and the deck brown. Paint it with two coats of paint. Then, at the next island, you two must buy more food. Now go!" Misty turned and the ice on Annie and Tsubaki's feet shattered. Misty turned around once more. "And finish before nightfall!" she instructed. With that, she left.

As Annie and Tsubaki quickly backed away, Misty brushed past Marin, not noticing him at all. She dove off of the box of the ship, her legs becoming a silver fin. She slid into the water without a splash, and swam to the dead SeaKing. She looked at the SeaKing's body, and seeing no large wounds, she raised her arms. A blue light shone in the water, surrounding the body of the SeaKing. A ring of water rose up and crystallized. The sun shone through it and became a brilliant pulsing beam of multicolored light. The light struck the SeaKing and was absorbed. The SeaKing's body rumbled and moved. The huge sea creature lifted its head. It stared at Misty. Misty stared back and spoke in her ancient language. The SeaKing replied in its own language. Misty said something else and the SeaKing nodded. Misty swam back to the ship and the SeaKing followed her. She hopped up on deck, her fin becoming legs again. She found Dimitri.
"Please don't kill any more SeaKings, Dimitri," she said. "They are almost a part of me, since I am of the sea as well. HOwever, I was able to resurrect this one, and it is now our ally." With that, Misty left to go make sure that Annie and Tsubaki were doing their jobs.

Further out, a black ship loomed on the horizon. The "Sea Lord" was a whaling ship. It had iron platting on the hull (for protection) and that gave the ship it's black, ominous look. The lookout yelled "SEA KING, dead ahead!" The captain yelled foreward, to the bow "Mr. Fuuma, ready the harpoon gun! Fire at will." "Aye" John Fuuma answered back. Then he prepared himself. He truly did not want to be a gunner, but he had put the gun back together and now he was the only one who could fire it without breaking it. He put on his polarized goggles, that everyone on this ship wore, and took aim at the sea king. It had gone deep, but not quite deep enought, John could see a dark shadow under the waves. He took his time, wanting the shot to be perfect. John wanted this creature to die painlessly, and if he missed, or hit the wrong spot, the creature would suffer. He finaly had the shot lined up and was about to fire when the lookout screamed "PIRATES!!!!!"
This distracted him, and he looked up. He could see a ship out there on the waves.
It bore no flag, and while that usualy meant it was a pirate ship, the stranger thing was the paint job on the hull. Looked like penquins on a beach, or, at least it must have at one point. Fuuma suddenly remembered he had a sea king to shot. Everyone around him was shouting orders, but he had to get back on his shot. He pointed the gun again just in time to see the sea king leap out of the water.
"ABANDON SHIP!!" someone yelled. John obeyed. Even if he shot the sea king, he only had a 50/50 chance of hitting the right spot, and even if he hit, that wouldnt stop its atack. He didn't worry about his weapons. They were already secure in his pack (that, per regulation, had an air bag inside it, so as not to weigh a sailor to his doom) So he jumped overboard and swam as hard as he could towrds the pirate ship...
(occ: thanks for letting me join. I hope we all have fun with this)

Dimitri scoffed lightly as Annie and Tsubaki sadly made their way to the storage rooms to retrieve the buckets and mops needed to clean the ship.
"My apologies, miss Misty. Had I known I would have been gentler." Dimitri tossed over his shoulder to his captain. Misty didn't reply though, Dimitri frowned slightly, is she...?
"no" she answered his unspoken question. Dimitri smiled uneasily, I'll have to be on guard from now on huh captain? Misty only nodded in response.
Dimitri towards the seaking that had been resurrected and bowed his head slightly, "I apologize for killing you." he said to the creature, half joking half serious.
"HELP"
Dimitri opend his eyes and noticed a man was floating in the water, sputtering slightly as he conitnuely dipped and surfaced trying to keep from going under the ship. The seaking let out a defeaning roar as it moved to snatch the unfortunate man from the waters. Before the man could be givent to the afterlife however, Dimitri summoned the vine used on the seaking to lift the scared man out of the water and onto safety.
When he landed on the deck, the stranger scrambled away from the seacreature. Taking care to keep the castaway in his sights, Dimitri freed him of the vines grasp.

Misty ran over to the man. "Who are you? And what the heck were you doing floating alone in the sea?"
The man didn't respond. He instead was carefully watching the SeaKing. He backed up a bit and looked at the girl staring at him.
Misty quickly spoke something to the SeaKing. "Don't worry, he won't harm you now."
The man looked unsure. "Who are you people?" he asked.
Misty grinned. "Pirates."

The vines away, John stood up, slowly. He looked around, but he could only see 3 people on deck. A sumo (at least thats what he looked like), a man wearing a jaket, and seamingly in control of the vine that saved his life. And also the woman who had anounced that they were pirates.
John then took a bow and said "Thank you all, for saving my life. Let me repay you in any way I can."
At that moment the doar to the supply room burst open and two girls ran out on deck bearing mops and soap.

"You're welcome... but we didn't really save you... you see, the SeaKing there is more or less my pet." Misty grinned. "By the way, I'm Misty, captain of this ship."
"I'm John Fumma. Why do you have a SeaKing for a pet!?" he excalimed when he realized what Misty had said.
Misty grinned wider. "I revived it. And I can talk to sea-dwelling animals. But that's another story. You said you would like to repay us... but there isn't anything you can do. so, would you like to join our crew? We're kind of a small crew right now."

John Fuuma thought about it, he had never served on a pirate crew before. There realy wasn't much else to do, and anything was better than that whaling ship.
I guess the sea has decided my fate he thought
"All right, I'll join your crew!"

"Yay!!! We have a new member!!! Nice to meet ya!!!" The 5'11" man fell over backwards as a human missile, aka Tsubaki, slammed, more like ran over, poor confused and wet John.
"Miss Tsubaki should you not be cleaning at the moment?" Dimitri lifted up the petit girl very much how one would lift a cat from the neck. At his words, Tsubaki started to bawl...loudly. Huge stream of tears ran down her cheeks as Dimitri carried her back to her cleaning duty.

John stood up again. A bit more confused than he was before, and looked at Misty. "Is your entire crew like that?" He asked her. She laughed and replied "Only the younger ones!" John looked around the deck. Then he saw something. He walked over to a cannon on the starbord side. "Have you tested this gun yet?" Marlin walked over as well "Nope, we haven't had a use for it yet. Why, planning on shoting something?" "I just wanted you to know that it's broken, there's a crack in the breach" and John pointed out the rather small crack for all to see. "I can fix this..." he said, setting to work.

OCC: bitsmart, you forgot powder, you can't shoot a cannon without powder.
IC: John had originaly worried about the cannon, the crack was small, but it looked like it went all the way through the metal. If they had fired it, there was a very good chance it would've backfired. Now the hole had been patched, and John had cleaned the cannon as well. He had been suppriesd at the amount of dirt the was in the barrel.
has anyone ever shot this cannon he wondered
Now came the test, he planed to shot at open water, but it helped to have a target. Now to find one. "See that rock." and John pointed off in the distance. "Barely," Marlin said "do you realy think you can hit that?" John was sure of it. He probly would've bet his life on it. Considering the sumo's face for a second he thought he might have to. This man didn't trust John yet, and after all, why should he. He realy hadn't expected trust on a pirate ship anyway.
That didn't mater now though, he had to focus on the shot. Hitting a statonary target isn't hard, normaly. On a ship though, you need to take into acount the rolling of the ocean, the wind, and the hight of the swells in your path. The ocean was fairly calm today. Ill use the skip shot John told himself. He aimed out the cannon and fired. The cannon roared and belched it's bullet away on twoards it's target. Just as John planned the round ball skiped three times off the water's surface before oblitarating the rock. John stood up and surveyed the damage. The rock had been destroyed by the cannon ball. There was almost nothing left of it. The cannon was holding up perfectly as well. "Well, that's one problem fixed, got anything else broken." John asked.

Dimitri smiled out to sea. interesting... he thought. "Excellent shot." he complemented. "Well, there is not much on the ship however if you wish to fix other things I suppose you could try the bow of the ship. The seaking did minor damage." he added pointing to the staircase leading down to the storage area under the deck. As the newcomer nodded and moved towards the stairwell, Dimitri noticed Marlin staring after him. "Eyes open and we should be fine, my friend." Dimitri said. Marlin turned towards his superior and Dimitri simply smiled then he added, "oh, and do not ruin small town businesses again, Marlin. It's not very nice."
Marlin stared after him as Dimitri walked away, perhaps I shall train this morning before breakfast. Dimitri thought.

Candor Adsertor
This was not good. Those damn Pirates... He'd been tricked. They told him they needed a mthematician on their ship to work out the inflation rates, and ended up kidnapping him. It was Candor's fault really though....
Several weeks ago
The bar was jam packed, with people eagerly awaiting that night's show. It was always a garuanteed good 'un at the Lucky Catfish, and tonight there was a special treat, a warrior mathematician from the island in the Calm Belt... People had heard of these strange people's fearsome power with numbers but didn't believe it was possible. Now they hoped to be proved wrong.
Finally, Candor walked up to the stage, complete with his notepad in one hand and his pencil tucked behind his ear. After surveying the crowd, he began to right, drawing and lavish, extravegant and elegant equation that flowed from his rapidly moving hand and onto the paper. In the blink of an eye he was finished, pausing only to examine it before tearing the page away and holding it up to the audience. It was a simple proof designed to transifx the viewer and fill them with a senses of well being, and it did its job, the people only snapping out of their dreamlike state when Candor scrunched the paper up and burned it with the lighter he always carried. The rest of the hour was filled with similar such tricks and curiosities, but the big finale came when policemen brought in a convicted criminal. Now people would see if the rumours were true. Could numbers kill a man? It was several minutes before Candor finished writing his equation, instructing thsoe in the room to shield their eyes. When they opened them again there was a dead an on the floor, with a piece of burning paper in the bin. The crowd had loved it...
Present day
Those pirates had een watching in the bar, and they'd wanted him to tell them how to do those tricks. Candor attempted to explain that it would be impossible without many years of training, but that if they'd just give him something to write with... It hadn't worked. They'd locked him in an empty cellar with nothing he could possibly use to write with. It was while he was staring out the tiny grimy porthole that Candor saw another ship, anchored, and getting closer by the second. This was it. Candor had decided it was time to escape.
